Was he the Schwarber or Bryant draft? I remember reading a lot about him and hearing/thinking he was definitely in play for us until he had that injury. Bryant draft. Jonathan Gray essentially replaced him as the other top SP option with Mark Appel.

What’s the point of replay?

David Bote was drafted in the 18th round in 2012, making him the lowest drafted player by this Cubs regime to make it to the big leagues. The previous lowest was 2013 10th rounder Zack Godley (and if you're limiting it to just guys who made it with the Cubs, the lowest drafted big leaguer is 2014 3rd rounder Mark Zagunis).

Rich Hill, Jeff Samardzija and Andrew Cashner all had nice runs at Iowa since Prior (admittedly Samardzija and Cashner didn’t last long at AAA before being called up).

Have to think it’ll be Bote or Zagunis getting the call

To be fair to toonster, he said pop and defense. Short is clearly further up the defensive spectrum since he can play an adequate SS. I’d definitely disagree if toonster prefers Short’s power to Bote’s (or Vosler’s even).
