  1. Some one could randomly post this before every Daytona game and they'd have a 33% chance of being right. Just 33%? The Cubs should move their high-A team to the California League instead. :D
  2. The Dodgers AA franchise (Jacksonville) could probably beat the Dodgers big league team with ease right now. :?
  3. That happens when two of your #3 hitters are injured and out (Drew and Bradley).
  4. Right, but their stats are not too dissimilar. And Murton did it two levels higher, three levels higher, and in the bigs! Aren't they nearly the same age? Eric is 1.5 years younger (born in April, 1983, Matt was born in October, 1981). Yes, Eric isn't in an age-appropriate level, but he has done fantastic in his first full season. By getting promoted to AA by the end of his first full season, Eric is ahead of where Matt Murton was after his first full season (high A). I'd rate both Patterson and Sing's season as better than Murton's - this is a "player of the year" award, I'll only consider the playing level and age of the prospect only when the stats are very similar. I wouldn't say all their stats are that similar. Their BA and OBP are, but Eric has a large advantage in power (36-point slugging advantage). And don't forget the SBs.
  5. Yeah, I think Felix would be best at the 3 spot a few years down the road, if all goes right.
  6. He and Felix Pie are going to be in a real battle for who gets to leadoff when they, hopefully, make it to the Cubs. Hopefully they don't battle, because Felix Pie is no leadoff hitter right now. Nolasco with his second straight impressive outing: 7 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 8 K. David Aardsma now in. Yeah, I know Pie isn't a leadoff hitter right now, but it's hard to be any hitter at all when you're hurt. Fine, when he was healthy earlier this season, Felix did not display the pitch recognition or plate discipline to be a good leadoff hitter in the big leagues. His plate discipline at AA as of now is worse than Corey Patterson's was at AA. Aardsma has now surrendered 4 Rs here in the 4th to make it an 8-4 game. After Nolasco already pitched 7? Whoops, I meant the 8th inning. That 8th and 9th inning were pretty painful, yikes!
  7. Eric Patterson: Peoria: 432 AB, .333/.405/.535/.940, 90 R, 144 H, 26 2B, 11 3B, 13 HR, 71 RBI, 53 BB, 94 Ks, 40 SB, 11 CS WT: 1 AB, .000/.333/.000 -> as of yesterday Overall: 433 ABs, .333/.406/.533/.939 Matt Murton: West Tenn: 313 AB, .342/.403/.498/.901, 46 R, 107 H, 17 2B, 4 3B, 8 HR, 46 RBI, 29 BB, 42 Ks, 18 SB, 5 CS Iowa: 29 AB, .345/.424/.483/.907, 4 R, 10 H, 1 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 4 BB, 5 Ks, 0 SB, 0 CS -> as of last Iowa game Overall (minors only): 342 AB, .342/.405/.497/.902 Eric's done better than Matt in everything except BA - and in 91 more minor league ABs than Matt has. Murton's getting outslugged by a leadoff hitter!
  8. I wonder if Veal is hitting the low-90s at Boise this season. According to T2E's draft report, he was inconsistent at Pima, throwing in the 80s some days and in the 90s other days. He definitely had a nice start yesterday. Carlos Quentin is awesome.
  9. You're getting the feed quicker than me for some reason. Look at his location.
  10. Grand slam, Casey McGhee off Eck!
  11. You had me excited about him as a potential Cubs LOOGY last year, he's really fallen off. And now Aardsma has given up 5 baserunners after getting the first two outs. Haha, Eck is batting for himself. EDIT: Eck grounds out, 1-3 to end the 8th.

  14. Well, Sing has the walk record and Nolasco appears on his way to the breaking Brian McNichol's record of 12 DJaxx wins, so it would be nice to see Sing hit the record-breaking HR today too. UK's boy, Eck, is now in to pitch for Chatanooga. He has a robust 8+ ERA. :o
  15. But it's a player of the year award...
  16. Probable Starting Pitchers Iowa: TBA @ RHP Dennis Tankersley (9-7, 4.24 ERA) - the TBA could be one of Leicester, Brownlie or Valdes West Tenn: RHP Ricky Nolasco (12-3, 3.15 ERA) Daytona: RHP Randy Wells (9-2, 2.91 ERA) Peoria: RHP Mike Billek (2-0, 4.23 ERA) Boise: Matt Avery (1-2, 4.43 ERA) Nolasco is going for the Diamond Jaxx record for wins, Brandon Sing needs just one more walk and HR for the all-time Jaxx record in those categories.
  17. Nolasco was drafted out of Rialto (CA) HS, Mitre from San Diego City College and Chadd Blasko was drafted from Purdue.
  18. My sentiments exactly. Mine too. And I agree that Fergie's number should be retired too.
  19. I don't see Anaheim signing an outfielder. They already have a lot of cash tied up in that OF in Vlad, Garrett, and Finley. Finley's been a major disappointment and they only have him signed for another year. Also, they lose Salmon's contract and can move GA to DH. It appears they won't be spending much on pitching, as their minor league system is pretty strong, and they're really raking in the money this year. My guess is that they'll have Giles on their radar, as they need to add a little more offense. They have also talked about sending Erstad back to the OF and starting Kotchman at 1B. And I'd do 3 years/$35M for Giles.
  20. Going into today, the Jaxx were only 1 back of Carolina.
  21. Agreed. And Sammy's number better be retired. He was one of, if not the greatest hitter the Cubs have ever had.
  22. Brandon Wood hitting a single (sorry for the meh quality/close up-ness). Thanks to Jon for hosting the video. The wonderful color commentary ("Ohh!") was given by my friend's brother, who spent most of the game checking out one of the dancer/cheerleaders and trying to figure out how old she was.
  23. Angels (local team, love Vlad, K-Rod and Chone), then the A's. Maybe the White Sox are next after that. :?
  24. Because he's part of the upper management that has not produced a winner. Yosh got a big cheer! I hate booing, but I had to laugh at MacPhail getting booed, and then his reaction. That's right, start a "SANTO!" chant.
