  1. Gosh, UCLA's D pisses me off (ok, just the DL and CBs). Stanford leads it 7-0 in the first quarter.
  2. Nice day for the Gooz down in Surprise, AZ: 5 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 3 BB, 3 K Guzman's 1st inning: Josh Anderson walks (on 4 pitches). Howie Kendrick lines into double play, 9-3. Billy Butler grounds out, 3-1 Guzman's 2nd inning: Alex Gordon walks (on a full count). Travis Hanson flies out to left field. Corey Smith walks (on a full count). Alex Gordon to 2nd. Charlton Jimerson strikes out swinging (on a 1-2 count). Gabe Johnson strikes out swinging (on 3 pitches). Guzman's 3rd inning: Wade Robinson grounds out, 4-3 Josh Anderson flies out to left field. Howie Kendrick grounds out, 6-3. Guzman's 4th inning: Billy Butler grounds out, 6-3. Alex Gordon called out on strikes (on a 2-2 count). Travis Hanson grounds out, 3-1. Guzman's 5th inning: Corey Smith flies out to center field. Charlton Jimerson grounds out, 4-3. Gabe Johnson grounds out, 5-3. The game is still going on, but still (sorry, Brian): 2B Eric Patterson: 0/4 (.276) LF Matt Murton: 2/4, R, SB (.381) SS Buck Coats 0/3, K (.250)
  3. Anyone else see the Georgia TD? That was pretty impressive. 14-10 Florida still leads.
  4. Georgia down 14-3 at the half to Florida.
  5. So you don't want to see Williams and Hill traded for hitting?? Don't get your hopes up w/ this free agent market. That's all well and good if you trade one or two of them (for a good hitter), but look for a better starter than Rusch in the free agent market then.
  6. USC up 28-6 on Wazzu. In the first quarter.
  7. Man, I'd much rather prefer Jerome Williams in the rotation with Rich Hill as the 6th man. Angel Guzman (crosses fingers), Ricky Nolasco, Renyel Pinto and Sean Marshall all could be ready to be 5th starters by midseason next year. Rusch is definitely not woth 2/$6 as a swingman or a reliever, and those $3 million could have been better spent.
  8. I've been hearing rumors out here of Orel as manager and Gillick as GM. The fact that DePo didn't meet with Orel didn't sit well with McCourt and Lasorda, apparently.
  9. Wow, I had heard the rumors flying (fueled by the LA Times, who seems to hate DePo) but thought they'd give DePo some time before firing him. Idiotic decision.
  10. I have no problem with getting Howry, Eyre/Sauerbeck and OD. Yes, I will refer to him as OD henceforth.
  11. Where do you get 4 years? The reported offer is for 2. He's been "not horrible" for 2 years with the Cubs, already.
  12. Not if he's developed a taste for choking in big games! He has been a fine regular season closer but his pedigree has hardly been established in the postseason when closing games is critical. Harly been established? He was wonderful throughout the 2004 playoffs and was good until midway through the 2005 NLCS. I think all those innings finally caught up to his arm.
  13. I personally am indifferent about it. I would take either of them. Then you haven't seen Hernandez play much then. I live in So Cal and saw him a lot and he's got THE ENTIRE PACKAGE and hands down is a better option than Barrett at the position. Hernandez is a REAL Catcher and Barrett is a freak experiment gone wrong and appearently most Cub fans haven't realized that. Wow, you think Hernandez is a good defensive catcher?
  14. So, we're not supposed to say good job when our GM makes a good move? That's news to me. What are we supposed to do? Complain? Sorry, I meant that more along the lines of how we had to worry about whether he'd actually make an obvious move like picking up Walker's option.
  15. Especially those Latin American cultues that Edmonds and Paquette hail from? :D
  16. CPatterson20 wrote: I wasn't specifically replying to you, just posting as an observation. Soriano is crazy overrated. Even with his ridiculous Ameriquest numbers, he had a .309 OBP(691 suck factor), that's just not good. Plus he's a poor defender, and he'll command a lot in cash and players. With Walker already on board, there's no reason to pursue him. One hopes that Soriano's poor defense will keep him away from the Cubs, since Hendry supposedly is on an improve-defense kick.
  17. I highly doubt that. 91-93 is where he was when he pitched in a spring training game after having his surgery. When was this? Craig posted that on 10/8, in regards to Guzman's first AFL game. I'm much more concerned about his lack of throwing all four pitches since that start, I hope those pitches come back to their pre-injury form.
  18. It's kinda sad that we have to give Hendry kudos on making such moves.
  19. I highly doubt that. 91-93 is where he was when he pitched in a spring training game after having his surgery.
  20. Like I'd ever play in a league with a DH.
  21. 570 is the worse especially now that they have added MORE blowhards to the Hacksaw show and have added Mancow. Crazy station and all they talk about is Lakers and Dodgers. Unreal how insanely stupid they are to listen to. Lee Klein at night isn't that bad. One good show is the "Big Show" with Mason and Ireland on 710. They are fun to listen to and aren't pretenious. The only good show on 1090 is the Coach Katera show. The others are just a whine-a-thon about SD sports. You don't like the guys they have added to Hacksaw's show (I can't stand Hacksaw)? I love them - probably because I listened to Money on KROQ and Joe Grande on Power 106. And, most importantly, Money is a Chicago transplant and a diehard Bears, Bulls and Cubs fan. Hwhat? Hacksaw's a bleeping god. Money's alright. Grande's about as bad as Vic the Brick. I'm tired of infotainment radio. Hacksaw is also often wrong with his rumors and has an extremely annoying voice.
  22. Yeah, the Sox aren't exactly a budding dynasty. they could get better and younger though if they go with McArthy and Anderson in the outfield. Plus they have Sweeny and Chris Young in the wings. I don't think they are a dynasty but they did just win the freaking world series. Sweeney needs to hit more than 1 HR in a full minor league season for me to think highly of him. Chris Young is still a high-risk, high-reward prospect. We'll see how McCarthy and Anderson do next year (it'd be a shame if Brian Anderson wasn't starting next year in their OF). No doubt their farm system is better than the Cubs, but it's not like these young kids are studs, outside of maybe Young. Chris Young is Felix Pie, yet we are all pumped over Felix. It's not wise to be that pumped over Felix or Chris Young yet, they both have some work to do to be quality big leaguers.
  23. It's the Pudge/Urbina influence from Ozzie's days with the Fish.
