  1. I would have laughed if Pittsburgh recovered that punt.
  2. UCLA blows a 15-pt lead at home and loses to Washington. :( Another injury - freshman Alfred Aboya hurt his knee (one he's had two surgeries on already). Starting C Lorenzo Mata is out through the regular Pac 10 season (8 weeks) with a broken leg. And Jordan Farmar has no shot now because he's playing through his ankle injury. These injuries really suck.
  3. The refs get an assist on that TD. Embarassing. I'm rooting for Pittsburgh now because of that call.
  4. These refs are embarassing. And the CBS crew is besides themselves, they were about to marry Polamalu before the change in call.
  5. Yeah, I have butterflies too. C'mon, Bears.
  6. What the heck!?
  7. Bryan Johnson not expected to play, Terrence Metcalf is questionable.
  8. You don't deserve to watch 24. Jack Bauer disagrees. Cannot wait for 24. Hope the game ends quickly so I can see Jack kill lots of people and thwart terrorist attempts only to learn there's a bigger one lying ahead. We need to win in order for me to enjoy that show. Yes please. I wonder if Carlos Bernard (Tony Almeida) is a Bears fan too.
  9. Our secondary is good, not great. Some analysts have gone as far to call Mike Brown the best safety in the league (I don't agree with that though). I think Tillman is a better corner than Vasher; Vasher might get more INTs, but he doesn't cover the other teams #1 like Tillman does. Tillman looked bad early in the year but hasn't been burned in recent weeks. I know its early, but I'm predicting a Pro-Bowl year for him next year. Vasher has came up with the big play this year. The secondary has good tacklers (Harris especially) and some play-makers, but coverage can be a bit suspect at times. I wouldn't say you're wrong in saying its not a great secondary... but I think it is definitely a good one. Ahem, do I get copyright credit for the bolded? :D
  10. UGH! UCLA's remaining center, Lorenzo Mata, injured himself and it looks severe. He crashed right into Jordan Farmar going for a loose ball and his leg bent really awkwardly. :( Pauley just deflated when Mata got hurt (he's a huge fan favorite) and UCLA nearly blew a 17 point lead to WSU. They held on by 2 points only when WSU missed a layup as time expired. Mata's probably out for the year, and if that's the case, 3 out of UCLA's top 6 in the rotation are out for the season. Four other Bruins are out right now injured (Fey, Hollins, Shipp, Bozeman) and the biggest guy left on the UCLA roster is 6'7". UCLA now is playing with 8 guys including a walk-on 7th year senior, 2 sophomores and 5 freshmen. =\ And yet, UCLA is 14-2. U-Dub at Pauley on Saturday, the Huskies looked sloppy but beat USC at the Sports Arena just now. Oh, and Oregon State beat Arizona.
  11. Sophomore Josh Shipp, UCLA's third best player won't play again this season because of problems related to his hip surgery over the summer (he only play 4 games because of that surgery). UCLA's already without all three of their seniors - Cs Ryan Hollins and Michael Fey and swingman Cedric Bozeman. Sounds like Arron Afflalo, who hurt his hip on in ASU should be ok to play on Thursday against Wazzu and Jordan Farmar will have to play the rest of the season with a sprained ankle. Losing Bozeman and Shipp for the season is really going to hurt. :( EDIT: Ooo, looks like C Lorenzo Mata broke his nose in ASU too.
  12. WOOT! Great effort to get a huge road win. I just don't understand Mizzou. How can a team look so bad and then go into norman and win? I didn't get to see their 3 cupcake games between Illinois and the conference opener, but they've turned it around for sure. They've played pretty good defense before and maintained that, better offensive flow, better effort, and someone in each game stepping up to help Gardner shoulder the load(McKinney against OSU, Brown against OU). Should be a fun environment to be in on Saturday, hopefully both teams take care of business so there can be some real fun on Monday. wow, complicated name you chose. It's awesome.
  13. I agree with the thought that the Bears defense would struggle in slippery/icy/wet conditions but that cold weather won't affect them as much - especially the cold weather we should see on Sunday. NWS (who I'd trust over anyone else that I can check right now) has the expected high for Sunday at 34; game-time temps should be about the same and wind chills about 5-10 degrees cooler.
  14. The wind was fierce that day, my friend. I don't really remember Corey's HRs too well, though, since they both only brought the Cubs within a run. And Lee's should've gone out. :( Corey only hits solo shots. Duh. Yeah, I thought Lee's shot was gone too. And to bring it full circle, I sat within a section of you (and Mark?) at that game and never saw you guys.
  15. Obviously you weren't that little kid who Corey snubbed. Memories: - The inside-the-park HR in his rookie year (wearing #27). - The 2003 season until that awful July day. - The Pittsburgh 2-HR game (I called the second HR). - He hit 2 HRs in a mostly disappointing extra inning home loss to the Expos at Wrigley, but I was at the game. - Robbing Junior of that HR in Cincinatti. - Hitting the GW HR on Derrek Lee day this past season.
  16. Wow to Wazzou getting the nod over Cal. It won't be that way come March.
  17. .389/.486/.738/1.224 in 175 High-A PA's He then got promoted to AA where he had much less success (.687 OPS) in 113 PA's. He was 22 last year. And .337/.439/.708/1.147 in the AFL.
  18. Yeah, I was shocked with the U-Dub game. Washington is now 1-2 in Pac 10 play and has to go down to LA to play USC and UCLA this coming week. Cal also lost their first Pac 10 game.
  19. Yeah, not surprising after seeing the injury a few bajillion times (thanks for the replays, CBS).
  20. It was a bit late though, but not really dirty. It's a shame because Carson is one of those few Trojans that I like. This game is getting out of hand.
  21. Steve Smith had 14 catches for 169 yards last time these two teams played. As of now, looks like it will be mostly cloudy with temps in the upper 30s at game time.
  22. Yikes, Carson Palmer injured.
  23. Me too!
  24. My friend insisted on calling them the Montreal Elbs when we went to see an Expos-Dodgers game a few years back.
  25. Almost the same: 1. Delmon Young 2. Jeremy Hermida 3. Stephen Drew 4. Brandon Wood 5. Casey Kotchman 6. Lastings Milledge 7. Connor Jackson 8. Ian Stewart 9. Andy LaRoche 10. Daric Barton dkwg, BJ Upton already has fulfilled his ROY eligibility.
