  1. The city's ok, it's the majority of the people that suck. What high school did you go to?!?!?! haha jk
  2. I suppose I'm a little biased, but I don't think St. Louis is that terrible. It's no Chicago, but its a decent city. Not a lot tourism wise, but a nice city.
  3. I have a really hard time believing that would be his reasoning. After the the circus last season, what is so hard to believe about Brett Favre harboring such feelings of resentment toward the Packers? From beat reporters that follow the Packers the word is Favre has despised Ted Thompson ever since Aaron Rodgers was drafted in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. All of this animosity became quite clear after Favre unretired, even though the Packers moved on with Rodgers. Since things didn't go exactly to plan last season it appears that he wants another chance, this time with rumors swirling that he is talking to Minnesota. Favre is a god for some people in Wisconsin, and he would tarnish his legacy permanently if he chose to sign with Minnesota. Why would any rational person choose to do something like that? The truth is they wouldn't. Favre's feelings of bitterness are so strong that he's willing to throw away everything just to have another chance to prove to the world that Ted Thompson made a mistake with choosing Aaron Rodgers to be Green Bay's quarterback of the future. Just like Flames said, Favre's reasoning should not be surprising. Its like Jim Edmonds signing with the Cubs.
  4. Rondo, KG, and the rest of that team are a bunch of pathetic pieces of crap. F Them.
  5. More on the jersey numbers http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=5792 The NFL is stupid. Eligible Numbers 1-49, 80-89. Non Eligible Numbers 50-70, 90-99. Done, simple.
  6. Lets trade for Mark DeRosa.
  7. He doesn't have to make a huge impact individually for the whole line to benefit though, IMO. He just has to be a solid rotational player, which he is more than able to do. Also I said before, it will also have to do with a combined effort in which Marinelli gets the most out of the guys. So it won't be solely on Gilbert if we improve, but having another talented body out there will help out Marinelli's efforts a lot.
  8. I disagree. If he has talent, that means he has some specific football related skills that translate onto the field. It goes beyond athleticism and measurables. Sure, he won't come in from day one and completely live up to all his talents, and he still needs to improve his talents, but the talent is there. And if you threw him in a line with some other good players, that talent will show through in his play this year.
  9. If he is talented, that translates into immediate impact IMO. If a player doesn't figure to factor in this year, I'd call that potential, not talent. Now I'm not saying he's gonna immediately live up to his full talent, but he has enough talent to make some impact, particularly is the added rest for Harris can help Harris. Also if he demands any amount of attention, it creates a ripple effect to the other more talented lineman.
  10. If you think he is talented than he should improve the Bears pash rush this year. The only way he wouldn't is if everyone else on the line regresses more. Or more specifically if Harris is a non factor.
  11. Well that just depends on how talented you think he is I guess. I think new personnel (and a lot of competition), and a good coach can get improvement out of the DLine. If we do improve it will be a combination of both things. There are 10 guys on the DLine who could legitimately compete for a roster spot, let alone the 6-8 who will be fighting for starting spots. That kind of competition, along with a good coach is bound to create some results.
  12. Back up to an injury prone starter on a DLine that rotates bodies a lot. He'll see some time, and hopefully he'll be productive in the time he gets.
  13. I just think Louis is just going to outgrow being a TE. If he can lose some weight and keep the 4.6 speed then sure keep him at TE, but he is supposed at 300 lbs right now, and quite frankly I don't like 300 lbs TE. I think he has potential to a better OL prospect then a TE. I much rather released Davis and bring in a guy like Drew Bennett who has some good size (6'5 a shade under 200 lbs) and brings a solid pair of hands and a veteran to compete with what I assume will be a very young WR core with Hester/Bennett and Iglesias and perhaps even Rideau. Davis doesn't do anything that Know, Earl Bennett, or Iglesias don't already do better. Drew Bennett would bring legit size to the Bears. I think we're talking about different Davis's. I mean Kellen. Sounds like you are talking about Rashied. I have no problem letting Rashied go if we replace him with a decent vet.
  14. If you drafted a guy in the 3rd/4th, Garza doesn't have to be a lock. The only reason he is essentially a lock is because they have no more depth beyond him. True. However, since I'm generally pretty happy with the picks we did make in lieu of drafting an OL, I'm okay with putting it off this year. Duke Robinson did drop far though, and would have been intriguing. Looking at our youth, Williams and Beekman are both somewhat recent picks and somewhat early picks. Omilaye is pretty young as well. I think as long as you bring in a guy or two next year (maybe one early and one late), we'll be in good shape in the long term and short term. I'm definitely content with our line this year, even though it is on the older side. Also regarding Garza and Buenning (the two likely candidates to get the chop if we drafted a guy), neither is a huge cap strain, so its not even like you are saving yourself a huge amount. If savings are minimal, you're looking at experience. Garza has a lot of experience, and that is a good thing. Buenning has a decent amount too.
  15. I still like Dez and I love his blocking ability, so one more year is about all he has left with the Bears. As for Louis, I know the Bears announced him as a TE, but one has to believe it's a matter of time before he's put on the OL. If he is the third TE, thats basically a lineman. I say he stays at TE, as long as he can catch the occasional goaline pass. Also, if he keeps his 4.6 speed thats enough that he should be athletic enough to contribute on special teams, which would be the other requirement of a third TE. He could spend a year or two on the practice squad until we cut ties with Clark. Hopefully then Davis will develop into a decent #2, and Olsen will be a bonafide #1.
  16. Here's the thing about the O-Line. We will only have 7 or 8 OLineman on the roster. 6 are virtual locks to make the roster, IMO (Pace, Williams, Shaffer, Omilaye, Beekman, Kruetz). Garza is pretty close to being a lock, and Buenning isn't a bad back up option. So you certainly couldn't invest a high pick on OL, knowing you really don't really have a spot for them. Yea, I wanted to see a 6th or 7th rounder, but at that point is there much difference between those guys and UDFA? They are possible Practice Squad material for a few years and then may make an impact down the road. Looking ahead to next year, I'll want to see some OL emphasis, but there just isn't the roster spots for this season. OLine was a huge need for us, and then we went a signed 3 FA, one who is a lock to start and the other 2 who will compete for starting jobs. The available spots kind of dried up, even for a back up spot.
  17. Man I was a fan of this draft. Angelo gets an A from me. Looking at our depth now. QB- Cutler, Hanie, Basanez RB- Forte, Jones, Wolfe, Peterson FB- McKie WR- Hester, Bennett, Iglesias, Davis, Knox TE- Olsen, Clark, Davis OT- Pace, Williams, Shaffer OG- Garza, Omilaye, Beekman, Buenning C- Kruetz DE- Ogunleye, Brown, Anderson, Idonije, Melton DT- Harris, Dvoracek, Harrison, Adams DL- Gilbert OLB- Briggs, Roach, Hillenmeyer, Freeman, Williams, LaRoque MLB- Urlacher CB- Tillman, Vasher, Graham, Moore, McBride DB- Manning FS- Bowman, Bullocks, Afalava SS- Payne, Steltz LS- Mannelly K- Gould P- Maynard Thats 55, so two would be cut. One of the LBs, OL, or S likely. Perhaps a DE too. Also someone could get the "medical redshirt". Louis and Kinder would be practice squad guys.
  18. I don't like ignoring the lines until pick 140. As far as the DLine goes, I think the drop off from 99 to 140 isn't too terrible, but I really could go either way. If we were to go with FS I really wouldn't want to wait on WR. If there is good value at DL at 49 I wouldn't even trade down. OLine, I'm kind of iffy on. I don't think we will take more than 8 OL. Pace, Williams, Kruetz, Omilaye, Schaffer, and Beekman are all locks, IMO. Garza pretty much is too. Buenning is a good option. So if theres a good value early I would be fine with it, and then let Buenning or Garza go. Otherwise a late round selection is good enough for me.
  19. Okay, here's my idea on an ideal draft. I'm gonna say that there isn't a clearly good value at 49 and we trade down. I'm gonna go with my Patriots trade (49 &119 for 58 & 89): #58- Rashad Johnson, FS, Alabama #89- Juanquin Iglesias, WR, Oklahoma #99- Darry Beckwith (LSU), Jason Phillips (TCU), or Zach Follet (Cal), LB #140- Michael Bennet or Brandon Williams, DE, Texas A&M/Tech #154- Marko Mitchell, WR, Nevada #190- Brandon Hughes, CB, Oregon State #246- QB #251- OL The DE,LB, and second WR could really go in a few different orders.
  20. In a trade down, looking at the trade value chart, the best bets are: #49 (410)and #119 (56) = (466) to Patriots for #58 (320) and #89 (145) = (465) If you didn't want to give up that extra 4th, #49 (410) to Titans for #62 (284) and #94 (124) = (408) Either team is possible. Titans might be willing to trade up to get a WR they like. Patriots have a lot of early picks and may not want to use all of them, but rather consolidate some.
  21. I like Johnson too, but think he is too much of a reach at 49 and won't be around at 99. It will depend on what else is there. DL and WR are in play still.
  22. Wow, I didn't even notice that, it was such a reach. Well I need to think this over for a few minutes now. Okay, I'm gonna go with Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut. Benson showed some signs last year, but this will hopefully create a 1-2 punch, and Brown is a better receiver. DE and Center get put off until later rounds. (I notice Rocket is still listed, but I was under the impression he didn't want to do this anymore. We can wait around for imput if you want).
  23. I think this pick could be Michael Johnson. I have a feeling he'll bust though. I like Barwin's potential, but he looks like a 3-4 OLB, not a 4-3 DE. Center could be a need, and Unger would be a great pick, but there is also some good center depth. So, while I'm not a huge fan, he is a better fit than Barwin, and it seems plausible enough that it could actually happen: Bengals select Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
  24. Just FYI, Britton is from Arizona.
  25. Bleh, I don't like that at all. No FS, DE not early enough. Too many OL early. No late round QB. LB too Late. Munnerlyn too early. As far as the players go, I like some of them. Williams, Irvin, and Munnerlyn all seem early. Luigs and Greene seem late.
