  1. That won't happen. I was kidding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. If Marinelli doesn't stay the Bears should hire Lovie as DC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'm liking it less and less. The west coast offense's time has passed. Trestman is going to struggle to get the respect of players and other coaches with his very poor resume. Much like Lovie's first coaching staff with the Bears, that was filled with a bunch of college coaches, I am very concerned about having a GM with very little NFL experience hiring a coach with minimal NFL experience that has gone stale. What he did in the mid-90's is not going to fly in 2012. Trestman is going to have to spend months reteaching himself the league. He hasn't seen an NFL talent in practice in 8 years, and that was with a pathetic Dave Wanndstedt team in Miami. What kind of offense do the Packers run? It sure as [expletive] isn't the mid-90's west coast that Trestman is used to. Good thing its minimal experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I'm pretty confident Trestman will be calling the plays so Kromer is mostly the OL coach I'm guessing. Still bring in some knowledge from Sean Payton is a positive. And I wonder is Carmichael endorsed Kromer also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The McCoy thing was interesting st first. But I think the whole "hey he can fit his offense around any personel" ended up being overblown. We don't have Tebow and if we end up with a situation where our offensive talent looks like that, Emery and the HC should be on the way out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I just want a PC so I can get some feedback and really decide which way I'll fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Well we made a hire for him, so I'm definitely okay with more accountability. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. As far as why he moved around so much, it looked likes his head coaches kept getting fired. And we know in the NFL when a head coach comes in the assistants tend to go too. So its at least partially circumstances. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. What teams still need a DC at this point? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I wonder if Lovie would go to the college ranks? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I don't want to be bottom 5 in either so if we just shift the other way, I'll feel more or less the same. But then you also have to factor in ST. If they stop being elite at that also, we're probably worse off. So how far does his offense-only mindset extend? Yes I'd rather be better at offense, but not to same the extreme we were only defense. Its great the Packers went 15-1, but regular season success hasn't correlated in the NFL the way it does in the NBA. They won the SB when they had a more respectable D. As far as jersey's point below, yes you aren't competing for individual players time. So on individual activities you din't lose out. But with limited rosters when you are doing team activities you're pretty limited to working on either tour offense or defense. Full 11 man reps against a prep team matter. Add in special teams and you aren't getting in offense or defense work either. So a coach needs to find the time to get all phases reps during practice. Repson offense do matter more because of timing, but even with that in mind, balance has to be present. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I don't mind hands of in the sense of him letting the DC have autonomy or even letting the GM have a large say in the hiring. I'm more concerned about the allocation of resources. A head coach is going to dictate how the team spends their practice time. There has to be some balance. Then there's also the question of personnel decisions. I think if Trestman came in though, Emery is going to have most of the say, so I'mm not as concerned about that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Just from what I've read about him, his teams consistently have been among the top passing in the league. He has had some good exposure to west coast offense so i suspect you'd see a lot of west coast tendencies. He never lasted long anywhere, but just read through his wikipedia and you can see he 's gotten success out of QBs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I do agree on that setiment, which is why the Clements love scares me a little. Ideally you want a great football mind who has an ability to put a staff in place that includes a QB coach like... Clements or Trestman. And I'd even take it a step further and say I want the HC who is best for the team, which is why the ST coaches don't necessarily put me off. And I wonder if a guy like Trestman could be brought in more as a possible OC if you brought in a ST coach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Browns just hired Rob Chudzinski so there goes a suitor for Saban. And I really think Saban only leaves if he can be GM. He aint leaving for just a HC gig. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Honestly I'm not sure what the difference between Clements and Trestman is. You're hiring them for their history of getting a lot of of their QB. Trestman's CFL years and Clements one year as an OC are relatively meaningless. This is a hire to try and make Jay Cutler a top tier QB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Is there anyone from Emery's list that wasn't interviewed yet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. And sometimes you put the Indians. Because seriously, Cleveland. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I'd blame Emery for Tice over the draft, though at this point I dont know whats to blame other than taking an injury prone safety. Jeffery looked good when he wasnt hurt and it was a solid trade to get him Mclellin wasn't great, but I don't think that pick was supposed to be an impact off the bat. Evan showed some good things. Then you reach the point where the talent level is basically UDFA. I can get Hardin criticism. And I kind of get the McClellin criticism, though you still have to give it more years to evaluate. But even still this first draft can't be fully judged. The Bears made their picks with Angelos scouts and Angelo's rating system. Since then they've overhauled the scouting department, including adding positions. And Emery has had the past year to implement his scouting system. This draft will be much more telling to what we can expect from Emery. Running a draft with the old guys scouts and "infrastructure" is like reading a foreign language Novel that was translated through Google. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. How can you say he botched the draft after one year? What a joke. Besides its not a GMs job to evaluate the entire draft pool. He had no time to implement his scouting system or put in his own guys. Even if two years from now this draft sucked, it gets a waiver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. When the Lovie news broke my dad just started listing off 85 Bears he'd like to see as head coach, including Singletary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. They're already covered with the Atlanta coach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I just can't see Emery being that sneaky. I think he just completely embraces his scout background and believes that if he goes the extra mile searching for a coach/prospect he is going to find a diamond in the rough that he can discover. This worries me a little in that I could see an unqualified candidate getting the job based on a good interview, but I suppose he should get the benefit of the doubt for now. From what I've gathered that's not him at all. I don't think I can look at his moves and see evidence of that based on his moves, granted it isn't a huge sample yet. There's also a couple excerpts on him in "War Room" and he comes off as very pragmatic, IMO. There is probably some truth to the fact he will be an info junkie, but not to the extent that he undermines the process trying to find a diamond in the rough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Emery doesnt strike me as that shortsighted. A great way to fill a need is with a first round talent. He'll trade up if need be. Sure he could trade down for the right value, but I wouldn't bet on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Every QB is a dick. If they happen to show Peyton Manning tell his receiver to run a route he's a "teacher" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
