Most times I've sat in the bleachers were for bachelor parties. I think once I sat there just for a normal outing, but I 'd choose the rest of the stadium over it, considering cost. Most places the bleachers are attractive because of cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I really don't see Emery trading down unless the draft unfolds in a weird manner. Unless the BPA available is a QB or DB, I think you can argue us taking them round one. And if we do trade, it may not be out of the first round, but just down a few spots. I don't think we'll get any additional pick if significance unless a team overpays, which could happen. Really I wouldn't count on anything after about pick 75-85 as being a positive as far as depth for next year goes. Are we gonna trade down and gain a top 85 pick thats worth the difference in however far we have to drop to get a pick of that impact? Mid to late third round the talent differences usually start to level off and its mostly developmental guys. Getting a potential contributor at 90 and 130 isn't all too different. I really think Emery likely did more than just suggest him, but even if we take that as the most involvement a GM has, they should have waited for a GM to suggest OC candidates rather than trust a coach with a horrible offensive track record have autonomy. Especially when its freaking Mike Tice and he's just sitting on your staff already anyways. Maybe they were just trying to give Lovie enough rope to hang himself though. It's hard for me (and, I suspect, several others) to believe you can hold to that, especially after seeing what Emery's idea of an offensive coaching hire looks like. Tice in no way, shape, or form resembles what Emery wants to do on that side of the ball, and Trestman proves that. Your second theory is probably closer to the mark -- although I doubt they were actively hoping Lovie would hang himself. They just gave him one more chance to make an OC hire, that's all. And Lovie -- as he had done previously -- blew the hire. Emery certainly didn't block it, but I think that's about all I'd be willing to say. A little late to respond here, but I'm past the Emery having anything to do with Tice as I looked up the timeline and Tice was OC before Emery was on board- which I completely forgot I guess. Then my comments were about the organization letting Lovie fail at another OC choice, this being before Emery was even in the picture. No doubts about Emery's ability to bring in coaches here now. Prorating is probably what makes sense from an accounting standpoint, but payroll figures are likely much more set by cash flows. Although we've been told the cubs will essentially operate ln a multi-year budget in regards to payroll. So it probably doesn't matter as long as the method is consistent. Head coaches hire their staff. That doesn't make the bears stupid in the slightest Not always, and not when said head coach had a poor track record on that side of the ball. Its not like there was some urgency to lose the great Mike Tice that you wouldn't wait for the GM even if its the head coaches final say. Going into last year, it would have been totally reasonable to expect a OC decision to at least have heavy influence from the GM. For instance I highly doubt Trestman was the driving force behind Tucker, even if its ultimately his decision. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Was it well known Tice was mainly Lovie's callI don't really recall that. Just going off memory, it felt like Emery pursued guys who weren't interested and then settled on Tice because the only other option was Bates and the organization was put off cuz he spurned us for Carroll 3 years ago. I was worried about Emery's ability to identify and bring in coaches because of Tice. I'm starting to believe that was mostly Lovie. I'm giving any offensive hires to Trestman, but I'm guessing Emery was the main driver behind Tucker and DeCamillis. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If we wait for Garza proves he is healthy you may lose the hometown deal. Just run a risk/cost analysis (you should have all the medicals) and put an offer. It may bite you, but as long as the contract reflects the risk fairly, just do it. And as alluded, be more concerned with years and trade protection than AAV. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm fine with Hoke. Tucker intrigues me, but honestly, I think if we pass over Hoke for him, he'll probably ask to leave (and Tucker may not want him). So with the choice of Hoke or Tucker I'll take continuity and do my best to replenish the assistants. Ideally I'd bring in Tucker and keep Hoke though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The problem is those so-called "clear talent differences" are completely subjective and not clear at all. Ignoring need is stupid in the NFL. Only if you suck at your job. And granted everyone sucks at some poi t or another, but you should try to suck less than everyone else. Going primarily by need or fit just ends up in reaches. If you have a real need, FA is a much more reliable means anyways. Tge draft is more about playing odds while minimuzing risk. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't think anyone pretends BPA isn't a fluid discussion, otherwise you could upload rankings and let a computer make the pick. It just means you won't let fit or need override clear talent differences. Especially when comparing across positions, objective analysis can only get you so far. The goal of BPA is to get your rating language consistent across all positions and scouts and put the final ratings through rigourous analysis so your final decision has a small of a pool as possible to choose from. Its upsetting Marinelli chose to leave, but if that was the collateral damage of changing the overall team's direction, than its worth it. It remains to be seen if Trestman will be the correct choice over Arians or a ton of other candidates, but we weren't going to fix the offense with Lovie in charge. The closest Lovie ever got to putting up an offense was a couple years with Turner. Ironically, I just read yesterday, Lovie interviewed Trestman when talks with Terry Shea almost broke down in 04. Bwahahahaha. So maybe we could have had that dream set up with Lovie's cover 2 and Trestman as HC of the offense, but we're 8 years past that now.
