    Honestly I'm not sure what the difference between Clements and Trestman is. You're hiring them for their history of getting a lot of of their QB. Trestman's CFL years and Clements one year as an OC are relatively meaningless. This is a hire to try and make Jay Cutler a top tier QB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    I'd blame Emery for Tice over the draft, though at this point I dont know whats to blame other than taking an injury prone safety. Jeffery looked good when he wasnt hurt and it was a solid trade to get him Mclellin wasn't great, but I don't think that pick was supposed to be an impact off the bat. Evan showed some good things. Then you reach the point where the talent level is basically UDFA. I can get Hardin criticism. And I kind of get the McClellin criticism, though you still have to give it more years to evaluate. But even still this first draft can't be fully judged. The Bears made their picks with Angelos scouts and Angelo's rating system. Since then they've overhauled the scouting department, including adding positions. And Emery has had the past year to implement his scouting system. This draft will be much more telling to what we can expect from Emery. Running a draft with the old guys scouts and "infrastructure" is like reading a foreign language Novel that was translated through Google. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    How can you say he botched the draft after one year? What a joke. Besides its not a GMs job to evaluate the entire draft pool.     I just can't see Emery being that sneaky. I think he just completely embraces his scout background and believes that if he goes the extra mile searching for a coach/prospect he is going to find a diamond in the rough that he can discover. This worries me a little in that I could see an unqualified candidate getting the job based on a good interview, but I suppose he should get the benefit of the doubt for now. From what I've gathered that's not him at all. I don't think I can look at his moves and see evidence of that based on his moves, granted it isn't a huge sample yet. There's also a couple excerpts on him in "War Room" and he comes off as very pragmatic, IMO. There is probably some truth to the fact he will be an info junkie, but not to the extent that he undermines the process trying to find a diamond in the rough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Emery doesnt strike me as that shortsighted. A great way to fill a need is with a first round talent. He'll trade up if need be. Sure he could trade down for the right value, but I wouldn't bet on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Anyone else hear anything about the NFL possibly banning cut blocking, that would render zone blocking a lot less effective? I feel like I read something, but it may well may have been from a non legit site like BR. If theres any truth to that, it'd be the only reason to shy away from the Shanahan/zone blocking, coaching tree. Otherwise I'm game for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Its really an ideal situation. Unlike trying to bring in an up and coming offensive mind as OC who would just be poached after a year or so, no one will ever hire Marinelli as head coach again. So get your head coach be a primarily offensive mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Who has Clements developed other than Rodgers? Serious question, I honestly don't know who else he's developed. He's clearly done a very good job with Rodgers, but if he's it, I'm not sure I'd assume Clements can develop any QB. That said, I'm not sure Cutler needs development as much as he needs an offensive line - get him that and he'll probably immediately become 10x better. Elvis Grbac, Kordell Stewart, and Tommy Maddox all reached Pro Bowls under his tutelage(from 2000-2002). Not sure you can call that development per se, as though guys weren't model QBs outside of those years they had success, but it means something I guess. Looks like he got decent production out of Kelly Holcomb in Buffalo as OC in 2005 as well. Hope he is more than just a really good QB coach though.     Personally, I'm not super keen on college coaches coming to the NFL. I know some have worked out recently, but I can't get over that mindset. I'm not super keen on it if they are soley college coaches. If they have history in the NFL as an assistant coach I don't mind it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    I read the Redskins weren't going to allow their assistants to. And I don't think teams generally pick and choose. Packers have been in the playoffs a lot. Whats the precedence for them in the past? I know the blocked Clements before but that was just for O coordinator and I can't recall if they were out or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    I'd do it, but I'd feel a little better if half our starting pitcher candidates weren't on one year deals. Maybe they don't view Wood as a SP so its a moot point, but he's certainly nice to have to fill in the back of the rotation cheap next year if needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Well if Seattle beats our offer by even just a little I can't see why we would land him, unless he values league/division consistencey. But that cant be worth much, so we really have to at least match if we want a shot, with the above factor giving us an edge as a tie breaker. Years and AAV obviously matter but I tentatively would like it even though i have my doubts about the value of his defense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
