    This is probably the only injury thing to be worried about. But still, NFL contracts are rarely cap killers and we're supposed to have like a cap genius so I'm sure it's structured where we can cut Jay in a few years due to injury or performance and not effect our cap too much.

    He's also only about 190lbs. He's a different type of WR. He's not what I would call a burner though. Which I don't think is necessary. I think the last few years have shown you have a better chance of completing a deep ball to a big WR like Jeffery vs. a fast one like Knox. I don't think it's 100% necessary either. This year shows that. I do think the likely returner option with it makes it pretty appealing though. I think a Johnny Knox would be a pretty damn good 3/4 receiver and return man. Even if the long bomb to the burners rarely connects it should open up the middle more for the big guys.

    I'd think there's room for a4th WR to still see decent snaps, but they still want more if a speed guy anyways (particularly someone to fill in as a returner)

    I'm sure it'll happen soon. More of a restructure to lower his number this year and give him probably 2-3 extra years. I'm excited about Wilson with those guys. Dynamic ability. Didn't he just restructure last year? And generally speaking constant restructuring just makes the inevitable cap hit that much worse?

    Hey if he wanted to delay the Tucker decision at all this is the way to do it!

    Do we know pretty definitively about other possible coaching terminations? The only possible thing that makes me think they could drag it out is if they are content with Tucker for now but would dump him for a specific coach who's fate is still in the air. I don't think that's Emery's style, but you never know.

    I guess it depends partially on how you feel about the 4th or 5th QB. If Bridewater is 9th overall, what's Tajh Boyd's ranking overall and what do you feel about him at 2.1 or even trading back up into the late first and sacrificing a 4th rounder. Even evaluating Bridgewater against the 2nd and 3rd QBs is necessary because maybe a trade down is the best bet.

    He's got some really nice pieces with that D there, that's for sure.

    Isn't that the way things are now? LeBron's Miami deal was technically a sign and trade. They did take away Bird Rights for S&T in the new CBA. In a repeat of 2010, the guys would be giving up quite a bit to leave. If you really want to get rid of super teams, you'd get rid of MAX contracts completely. Nothing else would be as simple or as effective. But why would the league?

    Am I mistaken that Eben took some snaps as emergency center? Could an offseason of work there make him an upgrade to Garza?

    I wouldn't go LB best available unless it's a outside rusher and we switch to a 3-4. I'd pause at a S too, but that basically comes down to what you think of Clinton-Dix.

    Only problem to comparing him to Smiths return is Cutlers cost is gonna be way higher. That's enough to pull the return down even with Cutler being more talented. It would take a true bidding war, which I'm not sure us likely as Cutler would most likely have just agreed with one team on terms.

    Well the luster of my Jackson/Jeffrey/Brown trio wore off the last two weeks. And while I may still have had a chance with perfect hindsight (namely Car D over Chiefs in week 16) the former was definitely the main factor in my demise. In a winner take all league, second place stings. Looking forward to next year and my keepers.

    Nice write up, but I don't know why you don't want to keep Wotton. So, his DT play didn't impress you? He's a pretty solid DE.

    Doubt it. He will get a lot of interest (read Dallas). Are you sure Kiffin and Marinelli are back? Our do you see this as a destination regardless of coordinator?

    way too much optimism. Lions getting a new coach that might actually allow them to play to their talent Rodgers will return to iron man vikings are good every other year and will contend Also the Lions loss today means the Bears finish 2nd and play the 49ers and Cowboys/Eagles instead of Arizona and the Giants Looks like AFC west and NFC South are out matchups as well, and I could come up with better scenarios in envisioning a 13-3 season.

    The line. Average safety play is much more easy to come by and live with if you are getting the proper pressure and run support in your front 4/front 7. I feel like we've had nothing but a dumpster fire at both safety positions since Mike Brown left. Either this team sucks at finding decent safeties, or it's harder than you might think. Well the exact same safeties that were dumpster fire this year looked a lot better even last year with a more productive front 7. They were average to below average and passable.

    [expletive] next year. I'm tired of hearing that. What makes it worse is we've avoided a full rebuild job yet never make the playoffs. Fml Well one half of the team went through a full rebuild in two years, with really just two carry over pieces. Not sure what would have been so appealing about a couple shitty teams thrown in there, especially because we gave up so many draft picks anyways to get Jay and our D is suffering from depth as much as it is top of the line talent. They aren't in the current state becuase they never had some high draft pick, which isn't really even that big of a deal in the NFL.

    Man, I'm not really glad I wasn't able to tune in the past two weeks. Living overseas/traveling has certain perks. My condolences to all of you who experienced this live and in HD.

    Well for all intents and purposes, yes, but I generously included Weems as a WR and can probably count the snaps he's played there even though he is always active. A few times Wilson was inactive. Basically just requires Wilson stepping into the slot role, and everything else is negligible.
