  1. I do think this 4M with incentives and 5.5 option is a lot. Someone like Wright at a little over a million is a pretty low risk. I'm not totally put off by it, but hopefully there is still some money left for elsewhere, like Tanaka and other bat. The projected payroll is a shade less than 80M right now. Oh I'm not totally concerned about having the money available for Tanaka, but if the miss on Tanaka, wonder what else they'd go spend on, especially since that may drag late into the offseason.

  3. It would surprise me. Doubt that is a likely scenario. No I don't actually think so either, but it seems like they'll probably have a short bench and maybe have someone unexpected in mind as a starter?
  4. At this point, if they don't get Tanaka, we shouldn't be surprised if they just go with a 4 man rotation and piggy back right?
  5. Wait, Brian Boitano is not openly gay?
  6. Way OT, but when I thought of bad interviews and football players, my mind immediately jumped to that player against the Bears in the preseason with the cringe-worthy stuttering post-game interview. Anyways I was extremely happy to find out his name is Ellis Lankster and he has ended up having a pretty good career playing for the Jets and has been able to use that to really reach out and make a difference with kids with stuttering problems. I fully expected to just find a guy who's lasting legacy was one interview in a preseason NFL. Major props to Ellis.
  7. Eh, I was expecting worse by reading the comments beforehand. So he didn't engage about Lane Kiffin? And he seems genuinely unconcerned about stardom/fame? I'll take the boring interviews.
  8. Oh and trade Thibs too. If the lotto luck doesn't work (top 2 for me) I'm looking to pull more of a Celtics quick retool with much better assets than they had. If we're just playing for the lotto tank I still don't like the odds enough. Set ourselves up with several options.
  9. Yea I was anti-tank but presuming they currently aren't tanking and these are the results, my tune is changing. But we need to go at it hard, including looking to dump money cuz I'm still worried about Reinsdorf cheaping-out due to lack of playoff revenue. Can't plan on amnestyIng Boozer; needs to be a strict salary dump. And I think about trading Noah if I can get a relatively unprotected pick, like 3/1/0 and other stuff.
  10. If you've really had a headache since then, and it doesn't sound like it was a very vicious blow that caused you to lose it, I think that's something to really be cautious about. Not sure if a medical professional can really do anything other than monitor the symptoms but it may be worth checking if there's still a headache. At the very least, I hope your trying to stay inactive.
  11. I assume no shot at 2 seed with the other divisions having 10 win teams and our poor conference record...

  13. I've heard it does make you more susceptible, but I always thought it was in regards to additional trauma in a close proximity. Not sure if that would stick with someone for a long time.
  14. Pretty interesting reading up about some of this stuff. Looks like one study from August 2010 initially made some link, but more recent stuff says its actually more likely brain trauma related issues being mis-diagnosed as ALS (even Lou Gehrig himself maybe). And the distinction being a specific protein that is unique to those who show the symptoms with a history of brain trauma, verse those without the trauma. So it is likely a related though technically different disorder. But for all normal intents and purposes, there does seem to be a link (because who cares if theres the existence of a certain protein or not when your body just slowly degrades on itself) My uncle died of a disease pretty similar to ALS although I don't think they ever actually were able to diagnose him with anything, watching him, it was a pretty similar degradation of his body. Not sure what his concussion history, but he was a college football player. Just awful to experience that slow transformation though.
  15. With Baker and Whiteside, I doubt we pick up another minor league catcher Romine is still a legitimate prospect, so I have no doubt that if they were able to add him that they'd cast aside one of those two, or send the loser to AA since there's no one of importance slated to catch there. We also have Cutler, but I agree they'd find room for a legit C prospect if needed.
  16. Is it top 2 from each division instead of top 4 overall or something?
  17. So for many people, it's the start if championship weeks, maybe it's the semis for some leagues. Who here is still playing for something? I'll be making my first trip to the Championship. I've been riding a killer WR core of DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, and Antonio Brown. Hope they can all keep it up for two more weeks. I am unfortunately facing Peyton Manning and Josh Gordon so this guy has some serious potential to put up numbers. My possible saving grace; Nick Foles against two god awful defenses. He can potentially keep pace with Manning. I also have Jimmy Graham and the KC and Car D's so needless to say I'm gonna be really pissed if I manage to lose. I did out-score this guy by 20 or so over the first round so hopefully a sign of things to come. It's a winner take all pool so I'm still guaranteed nothing. So share your fantasy success stories or pitfalls for the season. How'd you get here and what are you playing for?
  18. I can't buy that as a legitimate theory based on everything I know about ALS. The cause of ALS seams to continue to be a mystery and I would think something as relatively simple as head trauma would have shown a stronger correlation by now. There is lots of research out there about it. Apparently ALS is unusually high among boxers, football players, soccer players and other contact sports. Can you point me towards anything you've read? I am pretty interested in the disease and have never heard of this.

  20. I apologize. I made that post thinking you laid out a specific scenario, when you really just asked if NBC would care about putting on a team twice in a row. And then you followed UMFan in recognizing that either way two teams could go two weeks in a row, when one team is Chicago and the other is Philly. And while I have to admit Chicago>Philly (no matter how good Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper can make us all feel better about our mental illnesses), no matter what NBC decides, they don't mind putting on Chicago twice in a row, especially when Chicago plays GB.
  21. No for week 17 they make the call after week 16 games are completed. Oh OK. Anyone think having the Bears on two weeks in a row is something NBC would shy away from? Oh you mean the third big- *grabs earpiece* "oh what's that? There still isn't an NFL team in Los Angelos? "* *nodds* "Chicago is the second biggest market in the NFL?"* *nodds* "and the Biggest market shares two teams, whilst Chicago, and most the rest of corn in the USA shares one?"* *nodds* "And the NFL only cares about playoff matches anyway?" "Uh huh" *nodds head* "And if it plays out like Wilson says the oldest rivalry in the NFL will have playoff implications?" *looks directly at Wilson A2000* "No, Wilson A2000, I don't think this will be a problem for NBC if it plays out as you say"
  22. Ask me after Monday. If Lions lose, its much more of both teams controlling destiny in Week 16. Of Lions win, one team is much more controlling destiny, while the other team is just holding on. And that all rolls into Week 17 Chi-GB.
  23. Can you go update the first part since America's Team [expletive] the bed?
  24. A little confused. Similar play as last week - he was wide open for the TD. No, last week he was wide open. This week there was a guy slightly trailing him. Either way, go Jay, but also curious on what else was going on, since Bennett was in the exact same spot of the field.
  25. Calm down, go remind your co-workers and neighbors Roethlisberger is a rapist, and update your blog.
