  1. Don't get attached to non superstar players.
  2. That ship kind of sailed once they traded for Porter. I think their lack of confidence in FA was even a reason given as to why they made the trade, knowing Porters big cap number. Theyll have some cap room one of the next two seasons, but not max room. They might have cap space the season after, but it will be potentially tricky with cap holds. Edit--Actually they can probably have max space in 2020 if they don't commit much in the way of 2019 FA dollars. That's the AD class. More big names available this summer if they all exercise opt outs. But AD is basically the most likely name to move via trade, so if he was the guy available via trade, just trade for him, rather than wait for FA. Then they can also use this year's space to add pieces and be more appealing to retain AD.
  3. Turn to consolidating assets in a trade for a Superstar.
  4. The background thread that sparked this seems to be lost to history, but I guess Ding Dong and I were MySpace buds. 5. Is Bryce gonna rename his dog now?
  6. When Bryces contract is over, large parts of Philly are gonna be underwater.
  7. Were you still holding out hope until today?
  8. I'm late to the thread, but are the Cubs still gonna have final chance to match?
  9. You don't get a HR for hitting the ball to the pitchers mound. Did the person who made this even ever watch baseball?
  10. Is it wrong to assume every half inch starts to make a progressively bigger impact the further down in height?
  11. You haven't dined until you've had a chicken breast prepared "blue".
  12. Tank losses=bad. Luckily they're pretty locked into their spot at 4, and even further away from the 6 spot. Which is why I don't give a single horsefeathers if they win games because of young core pieces playing sustainably awesomely, especially with the new lottery rules. Yea I don't actually care either, especially with it being with guys like that. Lopez is basically the only guys who's success is meaningless and even though he has played well he clearly isn't going to start single handedly winning them games. Plus the whole lottery odds changes make the drop from 3 to 5 a lot less severe. It does add to the lower limit they can drop, but not their Zion odds significantly. After Zion, this does seem like a draft where the next best player could go anywhere from 2 to 15.

  14. Those are some really healthy roster needs, four relatively easy and cheap positions to fill + basic OL depth wants and needs. I'd always suggest drafting more valuable/expensive positions like more CBs, more pass rushers, more WR talent, more OL, plus an annual QB and buying in FA at 4/5 of those positions listed. Not that it's predictive yet necessarily, but Paces history: QB-1 RB-3 WR-4 TE-1 OT-1 G/C-4 DT/DE-2 OLB-2 ILB-3 CB-0 S-5 K/P-0
  15. Yeah, dude. I can't stop laughing about this. Worth 6 billion dollars and you get busted at a discount rub and tug. If he used the high end ones he wouldn't be worth 6 B now would he?
  16. There's only 40 roster spots available so jokes on you.
  17. Come on, you know it's death to PTR and murder charges for Russell.
  18. Speaking of dynasties, anyone watching the BBC Dynasties show? Definite best dynasty so far was David the Chimpanzee. Dude got left for dead in a coup (and lost a damn finger) , only to drag his bleeding ass to catch up after being miles behind his old crew and reclaim his role as alpha male with little more than a "horsefeathers you I still run this crew" outburst and subsequently not accepting his overthrowing plotters apology and retaining alpha male status for an unprecedented 5th year. GOAT Dynasty. Puts the 90s Yankees to shame.
  19. Its not a bad general rule, but I'd call the 1 championship 90s Braves a dynasty.
  20. Transaction forum stays, but in spirit of a "down with the mega threads" attitude, every Ian Clarkin transaction gets its own thread.
  21. Haven't we paid enough already for the first deal we made with the devil.
  22. I genuinely want this season to be an absolute disaster. It helps to remember that all our rivals also exist for the profit of horsefeathers white billionaires and their fan bases are also mostly racist because that is just baseball’s demographics. So think about how sad the Cubs being good would make them. But there's a lot less fans of Milwaukee or Cincinnati. It's the utilitarianism approach obviously to inflict the most pain on the largest number of horsefeathers bags.
  23. - character issue college guys - JUCO guys that just want to start making money - 4th string/practice squad types who want to play and have film One good thing about there only being 8 teams is that the talent won't be so diluted. Most everyone on those rosters are legit NFL-ish talents. Yea, basically all these guys are 90 man offseason roster good based on the numbers. That's not nothing. You sometimes see guys leaving 2 years of college eligibility just to become UDFA. You may see more guys start leaving 3 years of college eligibility to basically be the equivalent, and still be draft eligible the following year.
  24. Its Will Ferrells Harry impression from SNL isn't it? yeah that was the bad joke i was making Oh. For posterity, here is Ryan Dempster doing his best impression of Will Ferrell doing a Harry Caray impression. https://youtu.be/0eLMIZWytbo I watched the first 15 seconds just to confirm.
  25. Yea, i would think if anything it will be character issue guys who get dropped after a year or two in college and decide to do this rather than try JC or some other college redemption route.
