I think getting rid of max salaries could make things a lot more interesting. We've seen how important superstars can be, but right now they can only be a certain % of the cap. If someone like Lebron knows he can get a max offer from every team in basketball, of course him and all the other stars are going to flock to the big markets. But if a Detroit or a OKC or whatever wants to throw 75% of their cap space at him, could make the decision a little different. I've long liked that idea but realistically the vast majority of voting player association members benefit greatly with the max salary. And the owners aren't gonna get rid of the cap.

Basketball's real issue is that nothing in draft or FA can really solve for parity issues. The best thing they could do in that regards is a premier league style club demotion scenario and let crappy teams loan out star players as well.

That still induces a pretty good incentive to tank really hard for a good chunk of the season. Isn't the worst team still not mathematically out of it until like February usually?

I don't know what good multiple picks is going to do. Take the highest ceiling player at 7. Sign Darren Collison. Trade Dunn for a future 2nd. Try and make the playoffs and hope you hit a lotto ticket at 7.

They shouldnt shoehorn themselves in too hard for a PG anyways. Just get the best wing or PG you can. There are some PG FA options if they want to move past Dunn fully, or just say F it and try Lavine at PG for like 20-30 minutes a game.

I think Brian was saying that it would be amazing if the Bears first rounder they gave up was something like pick #32 and the pick they receive from OAK was #37 or so. It wouldn’t be that we gave up two first round picks for Mack, just a first and move back a couple spots. also that would mean they were super bowl champsThe Bears pick could be 32, but if that Oak pick is like 53, there's still gonna be some meatballs saying Pace lost that trade right?

They will likely get a pick back for Amos. OTC currently predicting a 4th. Early in the offseason they had a 5th for Callahan too, but someone got pulled from the credits ledger I guess.

Leonard Floyd's very big (13M) 5th year extension was picked up. Looks like about 1/5 of the 2020 cap will be Mack and Floyd. Right before Trubisky gets expensive in 2021 as well.

i know it's splitting hairs, but an average player lasting 10+ seasons would qualify as a good career to me I think that if you told Jays fans that Vlad Jr.'s career would match Starlin Castro, they wouldn't be happy to hear it Yea. Most ML players would be happy with Starlins career and most ML players aren't Vlad Jr. Most aren't even prospect-Starlin.

Yea looks like Marvin Hall has no guaranteed money so he's definitely on the Hall roster bubble. Whyte is the interesting one of the draft choices. He has to add serious ST value (even outside of returning) and make a case over a 4th TE/FB or extra S probably to make the roster (absent injuries)

Yep, crowded room for sure. If you start to blend the versatile positionless guys, like Cohen and Patterson, those 7 plus Cohen, Montgomery, and Davis just about reaches the upper limit of skill position players you might keep (plus 4 TE/FB) (then add 8 OL, and 2-3 QB and that's your offense.
