  1. Bradys rise pre-dates Allen. But he also kind of rose and then fell before re-rising his profile with Allen this year. In terms of taking a spin at the OC wheel, he's fine, I think. Johnson is obviously the more exciting one, but I don't know how much that really means at the end of the day.
  2. Bears need to win to push the fire Shannahan narrative.
  3. Eh, if they actually nail the head coaching hire, I don't really think it's a terrible thing if you have to backfill GM with a glorified player of pro personnel type to run the front office (if Poles experiment flames out). Like many NFL structures you'll just have a structure where the HC is equal or above the GM. Plenty of teams do this. At this point, Poles biggest accomplishments are having enough guts to lead a tank job and then taking advantage of David Tepper. Everything else is probably replacement level GMing on the whole.
  4. Ben Johnson, for sure, among the first time coach candidates. There's been plenty of smoke that he'll be selective. Granted Ryan Pace in a similar scenario/track record got what many considered the hottest name in the market in 2018 and went it all alone. But enough has probably changed (even if some of that is the self inflicted perception of the Bears org) that having the HC hire come from the highest level of organization possible might be the best approach if you want to swing as big as possible. If you wanna just spin the OC wheel and don't care if Johnson and Vrabel or others turn you down because you just trust Poles, then Warren taking the reigns sucks. Just depends.
  5. I think NFL teams operate with this level of HC-GM power imbalance more than people realize. In the absolute best case scenario when a GM is the clear head of the HC, if the team finds any sort of success there will be a power struggle from the HC. If it means anything, hopefully it means there aren't budget and "type" constraints on the process. The Bears want to idolize the positions of Head Coach so much (hence the aversion to mid-season firings), might as well make him the clear face of football ops and make it a big hire. Poles can run the personnel department.
  6. *technically* I think they have to go through a formal search process. Would have to hold at least one other minority candidate interview to meet Rooney Rule. Of course they could sham the whole thing. But hopefully Poles isn't dumb enough to let a brief HC audition turn into a sure thing. It's not like Brown would be coming out of nowhere as a HC candidate. It could also very well be a situation where he likes Brown and isn't sure we're Johnson will stand or waiting to see if a vet like Stefanski becomes available or not.
  7. Let whichever coach wins the 8A IHSA state title game take over for the last 5 games. It really doesn't matter who it is lol
  8. Yea I think his one trade coup is doing a lot of heavy lifting on his record. I've never been a huge fan. But it's also entirely possible that his failed Head Coach hire is tanking like 70% of his work. Whether he was freely his hire or forced on him or working off a restricted list has had a lot of speculation, but no one really knows. On the record he is "Poles guy" per Poles. For whatever that was worth.
  9. The only possible defense of the no TO usage is in a scenario where your QB wasn't just sacked and has to scramble to get reset. The team was pissing down it's legs (multiple penalties, awful sack, etc.). Call the timeout. Reset and you can work through various options at that point. Even if it ended with a bad HM attempt you would have had two plays better than the one they got. Caleb probably should have just gone with the play called even if it didn't make sense, but it shouldn't have even been in that scenario. Taking the TO let's you as the coaching staff to install 3 or 4 situational options to go off.
  10. Hey, late to the the thread. Lol boars
  11. Finish of the bottom 5 win team (so best SOS) going back several years 6 6 6 7 8 7 You get the point... A 4 or 5 win Bears will pick very high. 6 or 7 wins though is where things tend to bunch up and a late season win could catapult them from like pick 5/6 to 12/13 because of their SOS. Poles needs to be as bold as Roseman/Eagles were in 2020 if they're in thar spot week 17/18.
  12. Fans do this every year lol. I'm a tank tracking expert at this point. Even down to this simple fact: Those ten teams are bound to play each other. There's guaranteed to be several built in wins! And then teams just win games because it's the NFL and things are weird. That said the Bears SOS puts them at a huge disadvantage. So they do need help passing teams, and they're bound to eek out some dumb wins too.
  13. Bulls timeline cleanser
  14. Not like I expect NFL to be consistent it's just funny because of the Bears own leverage call against them (and a totally inconsequential FG). Anyways, hopefully this helps give McCaskey zero pretext to beleive "if only x had gone differently" to justify keeping Flus.
  15. Can't wait to find out what stupid way they'll lose this time.
  16. It's probably moot but if Flus were canned I kind of would prefer Brown. I get letting him focus on Caleb and not rocking the boat there, but of anyone on the coaching staff he's probably got the most serious credentials as a potential HC candidate. Especially if there was an extended time (like 4ish weeks) where someone was gonna get some run, give him a chance to prove he's the guy. It would ironically be the one thing to somewhat combat the "regime change in year 2" fear every fan has right now. Weirder things have happened right?
  17. Damn, was so close to nailing this one
  18. I have some personal connections on Twitter that keep me engaged there. So a lot of my time is spent in DMs, and not the actual platform. It does seem like many are eager for BlueSky to be Left Truth-social which of course would be pointless as a social media platform. Like Sammy alluded to we all need less ****** social media in our lives. For similar reasons I never wanted to jump into threads either. I'll either live out the Twitter experience forever or until it's too awful to continue, or I'll just revert back to forums full time. So I won't be joining. I hope it works for driving engagement here though. Forums/reddit are infinitely better platforms for meaningful engagement.
  19. Wow. That really has to be a bad sign for his future.
