Can you guys stop talking about banner and ring ceremonies and stuff? I don't care/believe in jinxes, but I don't need to get all excited about this stuff right now, damn. I hadn't even thought about that stuff.
There are rumblings that Pie could make the playoff roster over Fukudome. I saw it in today's Tribune, but I can't seem to find it on the website. I guess Levine and Randy Bush were on the radio over the weekend and it was also discussed that they were thinking of having Pie on the roster and Edmonds off it, given his recent struggles, but I highly HIGHLY doubt that happens. I could see the Fukudome scenario playing out, though.
LOL if you don't understand why I might want to use my tickets after driving 10 hours to Atlanta and it being my first playoff game ever. It's not like I said I was rooting against them. I was mixed, and I said I wanted them to win. And Vegas odds don't really matter. It was Wood vs. Hampton, and I think Atlanta's starters were on short rest.
That certainly doesn't make it seem like any deal is imminent. I don't see any reason for the Cubs to abandon their process and select a winner while the season is going on. It wouldn't be the first time old news was regurgitated and passed off as an "update" in this whole process.
The rumor is that it's the Ricketts guy. This was already posted in the thread about the blog posting hinting that Cuban was out. Supposedly, Stone wanted to be part of an ownership group and he signed the TV deal with the Sox when he found out he wouldn't be. I guess we'll see. He wanted to be apart of Ricketts group? So was he forced out of a stake or Ricketts group wasn't selected? As far as I know he just wanted to be part of a group. I have no idea what group. The theory (suggested in the other thread) was that since Stone won't get to do that, he signed the extension.

Obviously the Cubs are going to win the division no matter what, but this is the same mentality that I heard before Game 5 of the NLCS in 2003. People debated the Cubs losing Game 5 so they could win at home. Sorry that you might not be able to see them clinch in person, but you should be cheering for the Cubs to win every game until it doesn't matter anymore. In 03, I was driving to Atlanta while Game 4 was being played. I honestly was totally torn about what to root for in that game. I wasn't crushed when they lost, but I did want them to win. At least in the NLCS we were coming home and only had to win one. How could you be torn at all considering we hadn't won a series since what 45? And we had to go on the road against the team with the best record in the NL to win the series. Because I had tickets to game 5 and I was driving there to see the game? I guess I could've made that more clear. Thought it was obvious.

I always say this when the subject comes up, but a lakefront stadium would be absolutely amazing, maybe like on Northerly Island. It would never happen, though, and it would be miserable in April. So, outside of that, Wrigley re-build, plz.
I can't find the article on the site. Link? Yeah, if it was there, it's been deleted. http://www.bizofbaseball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2467:rumor-ricketts-will-land-chicago-cubs&catid=30:mlb-news&Itemid=42 This is the article that MLB Trade Rumors links to.
The part about Cuban that I would've been most excited about wasn't so much the payroll but his forward-thinking approach. That's what I'd be really bummed about not having if he doesn't wind up owning the team.
OK, first, make sure you look at the dates on the rest of this thread before you start replying to it. That disclaimer aside... How amazingly awesome is the potential of this thing??
