  1. lol you're worried about gallardo starting a playoff game? this move reeks of desperation and not much else. and i doubt sheets will be very effective if he even pitches in a playoff game
  2. Me too. Especially when I'm like #1,000,000 on the season ticket waiting list
  3. If anything, you could say that Cedeno is being (inadvertently) sent up for failure by getting a disproportionate amount of his PAs against lefties when he has (at least in the majors) tended to hit righties better.
  4. I know what he's talking about too. Like he said, in Houston. It was, I believe, the same day that Neifi saved us. I went from complete disappointment to elation within a matter of minutes that day. Next thing you know there's shots of the hoards of people looking to buy one game playoff tickets. EDIT - Nevermind... I think Beck blew that game. I remember Mulholland screwing something up at the Astrodome, though.
  5. Hahahahaha how freaking awesome am I?
  6. He seems to make a lot of these cliche filled posts making fun of different cities, not just St. Louis.
  7. Milwaukee fans shudder to think where they'd be this season without CC right now. Although I'm sure they'd take comfort in the fact that they would have LaPorta.
  8. I agree with Mizzou on this subject generally, except it was pretty damn funny when he asked for the password on here so he could try to buy tickets to resell.
  9. It would've been more accurate to say that, at least as an offensive player, he pretty much IS a younger David Eckstein. Theriot's numbers this year are a bit better than Eckstein's best, but either way they're very similar players. That bodes pretty well for Ryan. He should at least get a few million bucks out of his career. But I think he meant that the dumb stuff he does is what tilts the scale toward worse than Eckstein. I can't really speak for this because I haven't seen Eckstein play enough to know how many boneheaded things he does over the course of a year.
  10. He also can't go five routine throws without double clutching for some odd reason. His rag arm makes this doubly annoying.
  11. Cedeno has a lot of physical talent, seems to have an improving approach at the plate, and his minor league numbers dwarf Theriot's. And he's younger. Theriot is a nice decent league minimum player who doesn't hurt the team too much, but it's not like he's a great player. Why is this so astounding? Have you watched Cedeno at the plate? He is clueless. How about in the field? Remember the double play up the middle he muffed and lost us a game 2 weeks ago? I never want the ball hit to him past the 5th inning. He may be one of the least intelligent players I have ever seen. Because Theriot hasn't made just about the most stupid mistakes on the team this year.
  12. Yes, because it's incredibly easy to avoid hearing what happened in a PLAYOFF game for 3-4 hrs in Chicago. Not everybody lives in Europe. And actually, in 03, every weekday Cubs playoff game was a night game. And every game that didn't happen would've been one, too. I suppose I could do everything in my power to avoid human contact those days and tell everybody at work not to talk about the game within 30 feet of me and record the game. Or I could just take a day off from work (which I most likely will if they schedule day games)... Or they could just schedule night games as would be in their best interests anyway.
  13. Given the importance of a game, it's a lot more likely that someone who would be perfectly willing to miss regular season games while at work will want to see these games. Unless going to the game, I would never take a day off to watch a regular season game. For these, I might just have to.
  14. Mentioning giving the games to FOX also causes it to lose some weight. Fox baseball is absolutely terrible with the made up storylines, the overdramatics and Buck and McCarver. And yet, it's still better than tbs.
  15. Not saying I know for sure who I prefer out of the two...but it's not like it's a slam dunk either way.

  17. I think the facepalm is a reaction to Sullivan's comments and agreement with goony (er, jersey).
  18. Meh, good teams win like that occasionally. So do bad ones.
  19. Crap, my bad, Raisin
  20. Hooray for injecting pointless political crap into an unrelated thread. Hooray for overreacting. Not an overreaction.
  21. i think that part of his post was sarcasm but i'm still trying to figure out what his point was.
  22. big difference between a weekday game and a weekend day game
  23. all of whom could/would be the result of an organizational philosophy in terms of the pitchers it looks for/develops
