  1. Also, remember that Harden's career high in K's is like 11, which he did a few times with us, IIRC. It's not like he's always been a strikeout machine. Look at his K/IP from his first couple years. He's actually K'ing more guys this year with a more limited repertoire.
  2. According to the reports, Harden wasn't the same pitcher right when he got him (in July). This is Rich Harden. His velocity varies from start to start. He's generally very good either way. Really? I've never heard that his velocity varies from start to start... Huh? It's pretty much been the case all year. From his start against the White Sox (for the A's), to every 2-3 starts with us where people have flipped out about his fastball being at 88-90 (from which it gradually increases to 91-92). I was one of them the first 1 or 2 times. Not gonna bother anymore.

  4. just learn to drop those types of arguments. i did. you can't win them. no matter how right you may be.
  5. not really...They have a horrible bullpen and after Santana the rotation isn't very good. They have the second best offense in the NL.
  6. And yet... he's shut them down for 4 innings and 0 ER.. 3 innings ;) Good catch. I'm not paying super close attention.

  8. You got criticized for what? I haven't seen anyone very much opposed to Dempster starting game one. The home field thing isn't a great reason, and part of me thinks Lou, who says a lot of stuff, just threw that out there as a reason. It probably had a lot more to do with Z's inconsistencies lately, and I'm sure he didn't want to call out Z specifically.
  9. Really? You guarantee it? Ward does not deserve a playoff spot over Hoffpauir... and I don't even like Hoffpauir that much. I agree.
  10. 80's last year just did not feel right
  11. Just a random thought... I wonder if a pitcher can "feel" the difference between 89 and 92...
  12. How many pitchers change speeds the way Harden does in the first place? Not many are capable of it. He's absolutely dominant with only two pitches and thrives mostly on changing speeds.
  13. People freak out about Harden's velo every other start. Are we not used to the fact that this is how he pitches by now? This is a lot like the start vs. St. Louis where he said he purposely dialed it back to pitch to contact and get through innings efficiently. That game also happened to have the threat of rain looming. His last start he was in the mid-90's.
  14. As long as it wasn't Webb and Haren, I didn't/don't care who it is. Sure, Hamels is gonna be tough but we're going to run into him at some point, most likely.
  15. Those Webb and Haren worries of about a month ago are officially dead.
  16. haha thats awesome
  17. Of course he has... everyone has. But he has the most ridiculous poker face. I guess maybe Rich Hill has shown less. Or maybe Harden with that constant goofy smile regardless of what is going on.
  18. Anyone else have pictures of Ted Lilly dancing in their heads? Seriously? Outside of that one HR in the playoffs, Ted Lilly shows less emotion (on and off the field) than any other player in history. If you're lucky you'll get a 1 second grimace, but I think that's more him stretching his face muscles. So I'm not sure if you were joking or not.
  19. You've given up? I figured I'd waste my last hour at work hopelessly hitting F5 since I have nothing else to do today. Can't believe I missed it... I got some for Game 5. Have been constantly clicking on Game 1 and Game 2 and not getting anything. I think (at least at this moment) all the tickets that were available are gone. Oh. The best I could do when I got back to my computer was get the option to select 1 ticket for game 5, but couldn't get any reserved... Were you wearing a cup for that kick to the nuts...
  20. He appears to think that Z is a very good pitcher and sometimes very good pitchers pitch poorly and it has little if anything to do with his temperament. Like he said, his overall numbers are always very good and people still say that, "He'll never be great until" stuff... Me, I've always been kind of meh on Z. I recognize that he's a great pitcher and he's extremely valuable to our team (and for that, I appreciate him), but I'm not personally a huge fan of his because he's pretty much a jerk and his tendency to get wild frustrates me.
  21. Even the print at home option? I also wish I could trade my print at home ticket in for a real ticket for souvonier purposes. No, they were going to do that last year but they ended up not doing it...you get to keep the tickets even if they dont make it there. I had game 4 tickets and game 1 tickets for the NLCS. Well that's good. It wouldn't make any sense for them to have to sort through who sent them back and who didn't, and to deal with all those shipments coming in for no good reason. Just refund them all and forget it.
  22. I think you have to send back the unused tickets for the refund though, as utterly ridiculous as that is.
  23. It's not like this wanting stuff means anything. If I'm gonna say what I want, I'm gonna say what I really want. I want this to go to game 5 and I want the Cubs to win game 5 with me in attendance, and then I'm gonna get loaded and run around the streets like a crazy person... and I want the other NLDS to go 5 also so they don't get any extra rest or anything like that.
