  1. And like half of those guys won't even be playing next week. Come on, man. None of this matters. I MIGHT grant you that the playoff opponent thing matters (albeit not as much as people think), but how we "look" tonight means absolutely nothing. Jesus.
  2. Again, I'd probably rather face the Mets, but it's foolish to think it makes a huge difference. We can easily lose to them and we could just as easily beat a superior team.
  3. Oh and be glad that Chad Gaudin hasn't had some fortunate outings and then crapped the bed after making the playoff roster. If he sucks, it's good that it's being exposed.
  4. The fact is there's no way to know what matchup really will be better for us and it's a best of 5 crapshoot that we'll be favored in no matter who we play. The Mets just aren't going to roll over for us if we draw them. Would I rather face them? Probably, but it really doesn't matter all that much. I think it matters a lot. I think the Dodgers are leaps and bounds better than the Mets in pretty much every area. Also Furcal is back. They have a top offense and the best pitching in the league. The Mets have a good lineup and that's it. In a five game series (even in a seven game series), truth be told, having some bounces go our way is going to matter a whole lot more than who we're facing. It's lame but that's really what it comes down to. It's too short term to be able to say, "oh we're this much better than these guys but only that much better than those guys, we would be much more likely to beat these guys." Fact is will be the better team no matter who we are facing. Be happy with that. That's all you can really ask for.
  5. it amazes me how easily people seem to think the mets will go down next week just because they've looked bad lately.

  7. guys it's ap style.
  8. that's 9 games that definitively have to go a certain way. the astros are out of the picture.
  9. yea, the scenario needs to be a little more realistic... maybe a 1% mortality rate or something which is still very serious.
  10. memories like that are priceless :ninja: even though it wound up for the best for you
  11. how are you not calling in sick or something on the night of game 6?
  12. the last 3 games with a bunch of scrubs mostly playing has no bearing on what will happen 3 days later when the playoffs start. this would almost be like when the bears got mauled by the packers on NYE and freak out city happened on sports radio for the next two weeks
  13. You're new here, so I'll let it slide, but you don't call out Bruce like that. Ever. [-X No, but seriously, Miles tends to be the exact opposite of the type of writer you're talking about and was probably just reporting what he saw.
  14. Lou basically just says stuff. Sometimes it actually has to do with what he's doing. Other times it doesn't.
  15. CubbieBum, with you being mentally ready for a child, you should look into adopting one of these poor kids.
  16. I agree with this, nice post. And Derwood, I agree no couple got screwed but it's still morally wrong and sad that it was allowed to happen. It's morally wrong that a child who otherwise might not have a home was adopted? WTF is the argument being made here by people? As pointed out earlier, there's no shortage of babies up for adoption.
  17. Good news. And Crane Kenney is awesome.
  18. I'm down for the first two. Don't really care about the 3rd, even though collapses are funny from the outside.
  19. Pretty much. But it's awesome because they're awesome.
  20. it is maybe it's a regional thing
  21. haha so random girl could've been hotter, tho... [-(
  22. Sets up well for a one game playoff... we just have to match whatever the Marlins do. Then go Mets.
  23. We'd have a much better shot if we were playing a full 162. EDIT - and if we didn't forget how to win for 10 days in September.
