  1. Zach Zaidman (sp?) is on the Score right now - he's the Score's Bears beat guy. Said that although a lot of people have been down on the idea that the Bears might be interested in Cutler, given their history, you can't really go by history because this is a pretty much unprecedented situation. 25 (soon to be 26) year old quarterbacks with 3 successful seasons under their belt (paraphrasing here) don't just come available like this. Says the Bears are definitely in the mix and very much interested. Thinks the Bears defense continues to take away the ball and put them in good field position and that a lot of those field goals Robbie Gould has been getting will turn into touchdowns (blah blah blah - no really?). Just figured I'd pass on what I heard.
  2. Clayton mentioned the Bears as one of top 3 teams he saw in the running yesterday, although he added that he didn't think they'd have enough to get it done.
  3. Hence keeping Marmol in the more important role.
  4. BRONCOS BEGIN THE PROCESS OF ERASING CUTLER FROM THE TEAM Posted by Mike Florio on March 31, 2009, 9:58 p.m. To anyone who thinks that the Broncos’ announcement that quarterback Jay Cutler will be traded is an early April Fool’s Day gag, think again. In addition to posting a statement from owner Pat Bowlen on the team’s web site, a reader points out that the franchise has removed Cutler from the online roster. He also has been scrubbed from the online depth chart, which currently shows no starting quarterback despite expressly being dated as of December 22, 2008. That said, his online bio still is live — but we have a feeling it won’t be for much longer.
  5. Looks like the Broncos are going to trade Cutler. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4031893
  6. I wouldn't trade Piniella for Scioscia.
  7. I wish we COULD get LeBron though. It sure feels like he's going to make the eastern conference a living hell for the foreseeable future ala Jordan.
  8. i realized it after i posted it. i should've clarified.
  9. 2 guard and they're really very similar players. allen was significantly better in his prime, but not when he won a championship. still better, but not by a huge margin.
  10. if ben gordon is your number 2, you're never winning anything. it's as simple as that. i love definitive statements like this that actually mean absolutely nothing. people could've said the same about rip hamilton or ray allen at one point.
  11. You're not getting Wade or LeBron, and you're probably not even getting Amare. You might get Bosh. You'd still be able to get him whether you re-sign Gordon or not. And Gordon isn't going to get some absurdly huge contract in this economy.
  12. The Bulls will be significantly worse off if and when they lose him. They'll have to luck into it in order to wind up with a better 2 in the near future.
  13. Having seen another replay, I still don't understand how TJ Ford hit that shot.
  14. You can't be serious. what? every time gordon has a game where he goes off we hear about how awesome he is and that we need to pay him. so after one of his patented "i'm ice cold tonight but i'm going to keep heaving up shots like crazy anyways" nights i can't call him out? or it could be because of his overall stats.
  15. That non-dunk-hesitation turned missed-layup by Rose hurt at the time and hurts even more now.
  16. Thanks for missing those free throws, Kirk.
  17. Rose with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists at the end of the 3rd
  18. Screw you guys.... our big signing is hitting .570 and slugging like .900 for the spring. Marmol will still be putting out the fires and Miles isn't playing everyday. Harden is relatively healthy. I'm excited. Plus we MIGHT still get Peavy.
  19. As I've gotten older, I've cared less and less about spring training (outside of the first day pics and then the first radio game and the first tv game), but I still get ridiculously excited for opening day. This year is no different. Less than two weeks from now I'll be at Wrigley.. :D
  20. Really? I thought it was just about air flow and keeping their heads cooler (no pun). I never have thought of helmet breakage (especially like Sammy's) to be a major problem. Seems like more of a fluke than anything else.
  21. On a somewhat related note, I think going to one color for the names and numbers (preferably blue) on the back of the road unis would help a lot. I'm not a fan of the two-tone look, unique as it may be.
  22. Not if they keep all of Vizcaino, Gaudin, and Guzman. I think Jeff to AAA is assumed right now but the Cubs still have to clear even more room. Vizcaino, Guadin, Guzman Cotts, Marmol, Gregg Oh, I'm missing Heilman. I think Guzman may just be a lost cause at this point. But Harden starting on the DL (using 4 starters for a couple weeks) allows you to start with those 7 plus Patton, and gives you time to trade. Or, if Patton falls on his face once given the job, you can live with returning him if you have to. Has there actually been talk of Harden starting on the DL? As far as I know he's still slated to make his final tuneup start on Saturday at Yankee Stadium and then be our fourth starter for the real games.
  23. I have no idea why I made a thread for this. There's not much to discuss here. But I figured I'd pass it on. The new road hats should look much better, though.
  24. I noticed that most of the Cubs are wearing the old style batting helmets. Is that just for Spring Training or do most players not like the "Airflow" helmets? -- Stewart Y., Bettendorf, Iowa The Cubs have discontinued the "Airflow" helmets because they kept breaking. They went through 40-50 helmets last year and have returned to the old style ones. Also, no red bill on their caps.
