  1. I don't understand this at all. The Cubs are clearly the best team in the division. They've even added distance between them and the next best team. How can you not be excited? This team on paper is better than last's years team at this point. how the hell is this year's team better than last years Last year's team at this point had Pie in CF and Fuku in RF, and didn't have Rich Harden. This year's has Rich Harden, Bradley in RF and Fuk in CF. Granted, DeRosa gets most of his AB's replaced by Fontenot and there's no Wood, but I'd still take this team with Bradley and Harden over the one we opened with last year. The team performed a lot better than you would've expected at this time last year due largely in part to Edmonds (granted, nobody expected Fukudome to tank that badly) and Dempster. As for Dempster this year, I'm clueless as to what to expect, but hopefully he keeps it up.
  2. Did he call in? Because Hanley was off today... He probably did because that's exactly what he posted in his blog on the Sun-Times site.
  3. It could just be that he's going to finish up his work at the deadline and then take a lesser role or something, I guess. As someone on RealGM said, Paxson looks like he has aged 15 years in about 5.5. The job must be stressful as hell.
  4. I don't agree. But there's no point in arguing over it.
  5. I'm wondering if Paxson may be resigning as some sort of protest... Maybe he had a deal in place for Amare and JR nixed it or something along those lines. For all we know, the same thing may have happened during the Kobe (and D'Antoni) talks.
  6. Peter Vescey reporting that Pax is out after the trade deadline. Very strange timing. If it's true, does that mean we won't be getting any deals done? Would be odd for a lame-duck GM to be doing anything...
  7. Glad to see that Geo lost some weight. He looked like he had gained some weight back going into 08 after having lost a lot in his breakout 07. Obviously, the weight didn't hurt his production much, but this should be better for him in the long run.
  8. I was about to say that Arenas does not belong on that top list if Amare doesn't.
  9. That is a lot better. It would probably look better if the numbers were blue also. We're one of the only, if not the only, teams with different colored names/numbers (on the road jersey).
  10. Or it could just be that no such offer exists from Portland's end. But I agree that the direction that Kerr is taking PHX in doesn't seem to be a good one. Then again, it's all about money (which is even more reason to believe that no such offer from Portland exists, because they probably would've taken it already from a money perspective).
  11. A post from RealGM...
  12. I can... He is a selfish player in a contract year. You couldn't be more wrong if you invested your entire financial future in calling cards. Look at Gordon's numbers this year, and compare them to the rest of his career. He's pretty much on par with every other season, except he's more efficient this year, shooting at a better percentage. I could see your argument if Gordon was getting his 20 per night while taking 25 shots. But he's not. In fact, he's actually at a career-low shots per 36 minutes. In what way is he playing selfish? He's having an outstanding season. People put a label on a guy (deserved or not) and it sticks for good no matter how far from the truth it may be. That said, I get annoyed at the overdribbling sometimes, but all our guards seem to do it, and it seems like it's just a result that our bigs suck/we suck off the ball. He's no more selfish than anyone who can score the way he can, and there's nothing wrong with that.
  13. Trade deadlines are fun.

  15. I have exactly the opposite fear. I'm afraid that Paxson is under a lot of pressure to make a deal and will give up a lot, including Thomas, for Stoudamire. That will essentially take the Bulls out of the 2010 free agent running and I don't know that Rose & Stoudamire will ever be enough to win a title. Well with a core of Rose/Deng and "potentially" Stoudemire, why would the Bulls be interested in the class of 2010? The only reason why they would be interested in that class is if Amar'e decides to leave after 2010? A little winning, Chicago being Chicago, and the Bulls showing $$$, and I see no reason for Amar'e to leave. Getting Amar'e would be a good substitute over possibly getting shut out in 2010. But what a game by T2 and Noah. Exactly. With Amare in the fold, 2010 becomes moot, as Amare was one of the main guys we realistically had a shot at. If I understand the situation correctly , what this does is makes Larry Hughes an extremely valuable trade chip as a 2010 expiring. He would actually net us something worthwhile since we will no longer be players in that class.
  16. National guys always seem to be off on this kind of stuff. Particularly ESPN. We'll see if the Suns do, in fact, have a better offer out there.
  17. And, yea, that bobblehead pic is creepy as all hell.
  18. LOL... Steroids don't cause heads to grow. HGH does.
  19. Steve Kerr is going to be on Mully and Hanley (WSCR) later today (~9:45). I'll post about it if I hear it.
  20. It's a blog run by a guy who also posts on RealGM and has scooped stories in the past. He seems to have some sort of legitimate source. I think he mentioned something about the Cleveland deal last year well before it happened, IIRC. UMFan or Flames or one of the other RealGM regulars might know better than me.
  21. It is, but at the same time, you can't let Joakim Noah be the deal breaker that keeps you from getting one of the best big men (probably the best P&R big man) in the game to pair up with your incredibly talented young PG. I'd play hardball and try and hang onto Noah because it would make the roster situation right now a lot easier, but if push came to shove, I'd toss him in and deal with the strange roster situation for as long as we had to. Elite players don't come available remotely often. What else can we do? Wait around and hope Chris Bosh (who is overrated IMO and has injury concerns of his own) comes in 2010, which he likely won't? Hope to get lucky in the draft and suck enough to get a big in a few years? What else can we do with Derrick Rose? Realistically? I'm not a big Boozer fan, but, OK, fine, that's an option. But you still have to actually get him to come here. And didn't he screw over Paxson's brother (or am I mistaken?) in Cleveland? I highly doubt Paxson wants anything to do with him if my memory is right on that.

  23. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/57078/20090207/bulls_and_heat_pursuing_amare_the_hardest/ There have been a few reports that have stated that the Bulls have had talks with the Suns in the last few days. The fact that Amare is on the market is also no secret. The Bulls also happen to match up with what the Suns are (apparently) looking for (cap relief, young talent) very well. Then there's also the fact that Kerr and Paxson are good friends and the Del Negro link that adds a little twist (not that any of that means all that much). All of that is causing people to run with it, IMO. As far as leaked information, there really hasn't been a lot on the Bulls' end.
  24. Where did you read that they were interested in Tyrus? http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/57111/20090209/suns_intrigued_by_tyrus_thomas/ I'm pretty sure KC Johnson reiterated it when he went on the radio today with Carmen and Silvy.
