  1. It's weird how these reports about teams that were in the mix are suddenly coming out at the same time. Not saying it means anything at all, it's just funny. EDIT - My bad. It was posted on RealGM and I made the mistake of thinking it was new. Granted, the points made are still valid. The timing thing is moot, though.

  3. Yep. The thing that people are worried about is that Amare will be a FA after next year and after signing him to a max deal, the Bulls won't have money left to sign the little pieces unless they go well over the lux tax, which Jerry will only do if he thinks that he's paying for a championship contender, which the Bulls will have to at least somewhat show next year. I think it's a risk we have to take when we have the chance to acquire a big man who is almost ideal to put next to Rose. Or maybe they just work an extension right after the deal goes down. I don't really care. If they're as good as I think they would be, I don't think they'd have trouble keeping him around so long as they pony up the dough (which would be idiotic not to do if they traded for him in the first place). Basically, I recognize that it's somewhat of a risk, but I think it's a risk that's so worth taking that it's a no-brainer. Especially in the east.
  4. Link doesn't work... try again... what's it say, though? Gotta like the reports that the Suns like Thomas... and we know they've had interest in some of our other players in the past, too.
  5. You get the big pieces and worry about the other crap later. This isn't just about this year and the depth right now would be a short term issue that we may (if we have to give up all those guys) or may not have to deal with.
  6. Was it Jerry West that basically said that in basketball, you shouldn't worry about "overpaying" if you're getting the guy you want? In basketball, the difference between being great or being bad really is about one or two players. I'm not advocating giving people up just to give them up, obviously, but I'd give up whatever it took short of Rose to get Amare. Big men who would pair so perfectly with our young PG don't come available too often. He's one of the most efficient scorers in the game and a beast on the pick and roll. The only reason his numbers are down this year (aside from the "dogging" in recent games tha that has been well documented) is the fact that they're pick and popping him a lot more with Shaq in the way.
  7. I think the context of that was that Kobe wouldn't accept a trade that involved Deng going to LA. The reports were that he wanted to play with him. Would I have preferred to have kept Deng around while getting Kobe for a package of Hinrich/Gordon/Noah/TT/whatever... absolutely. But if we absolutely had to I think most would've been fine with giving him up.
  8. where is this notion that hinrich is the reason for the team's resurgence coming from? he's the primary backup guard playing like 20-25 minutes a game. deng's much improved play as well as thomas's and noah's (to some extent) have a lot more to do with it. i only mention noah because basically having anybody but gooden guarding bigs has helped a ton, IMO.
  9. i'm more inclined to say we're better because gooden isn't around (and, along with that, noah and thomas are playing much better) than because hinrich is around.
  10. TT is really playing well lately. He seems to be everywhere.
  11. The NBA added an extra game? He said 40-43 wins... not a 40-43 record
  12. Completely agreed. Dumping DeRosa was a bad, bad idea. We really only need to Fontenot to be healthy. The right-handed half of an adequate middle infield platoon should never, ever be a problem. Exactly.
  13. Miles would be getting significantly fewer PAs in such a platoon and would be decently productive facing LHP.
  14. Maybe they can build some momentum after stomping a couple of crappy teams on the road. Tyrus with two straight double doubles.
  15. Ok, so I just moved into an apartment and got (had no choice) Comcast installed the other day. We got the digital package (probably the most basic one, I'm not sure) with HBO and a few HD DVRs. Why the hell am I not getting MLB Network? It says unavailable. GDit... I guess I'll call them later today. Do any of you guys know if there's a minimum package I have to have or something? I figured it came in the regular digital package.
  16. I thought he was pretty good when he did work for CSN. I won't miss Plesac and his crazy shtick all that much.
  17. I really don't think Miles will start over Fontenot vs. RHP, which is obviously a good majority of the games.
  18. I was under the impression he was talking outside pitchers. I got that impression, too, I just didn't understand why. Marshall can easily take that spot for much cheaper and while we certainly get weaker in that role, it's not that big of a loss when you downgrade there. Sure, it can be, given the health situation, but going from a B+ to a C at 6th starter isn't that big of a deal in the big picture. But I did arrive late to the discussion and haven't read the previous pages, so this point might be totally irrelevant. *shrug*
  19. what? how about, anywhere? Take an honest look at Marquis' stats, and then look at the back halves of rotations around the league. Anyone who is better than Marquis is not a scrap-heap starter and would have been snapped up ages ago. oh i agree that marquis was a fine 5th starter. a damn expensive 5th starter, but a productive one. the "where on earth are we going to find someone better than marquis" is absurd though and what i was responding to. Ok, tell me. Who's available that is a lock to be better than Marquis for cheaper than Marquis? Marshall has a pretty solid chance of being better, although I wouldn't call it a lock.
  20. The woosh implied that the reason behind the choice of the picture went right over your head, which it did, considering you pretty much illustrated the exact reason I chose it in the next post you made. Stop arguing about everything.
  21. wooooosh your post seemed pretty sincere and other than the snaggle tooth, she looked good in that picture Hence my use of it in a post that said she's pretty hot for a snaggletooth.
  22. Why the hell was he at a Jewel concert? Are you sure he wasn't just spotted at a Jewel grocery store? If he was at a Jewel concert, I might have to change my opinion on acquiring him (no offense to Jewel fans) Well, she is pretty hot... in a snaggle-tooth kinda way. http://trybecca.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/jewel.jpg
  23. I really don't see that happening. Not in our division.
