  1. That footage is awesome.
  2. Exactly. Situations like this were why we were better off using Gregg as the closer and having Marmol continue in his role. I understand taking it easy on Marmol's arm, and that's what we all want, but I'm going to go nuts when Lou bring Marmol in with a 5 run lead or something. Just ass backwards bullpen management. If there's something at all wrong with him, totally different story, obviously.
  3. Assuming you're kidding, but still ... who would want a guy that throws the team under the bus for his own personal interests? Who is to say it would be noticeable? Playing for the San Diego Padres this season is going to be pretty damn depressing. Obviously, depression can sometimes lead to lowered performance. A half point added to his ERA won't raise sane carpet-bagging accusations. But it might lower his value a notch to get a trade done. I don't think he was talking about how noticeable it would be or how people would react, but moreso the fact that maybe you wouldn't want someone who would be willing to intentionally not do his best and hurt his team for his own interests on your team. That's how I read it, at least.
  4. Apparently, Cutler gave Plaxico a call recently to gauge his interest in coming to the Bears. No link, but it's been mentioned in a couple of articles the last few days.
  5. Can't be worse than Howry.
  6. I'm guessing a big part of it is the fact that it was a night game on opening day. We haven't had one of those any season as far as I can remember (I started watching in 95, 96 was my first opening day).... I could be wrong about that, though... There was a period in the early 2000's where I didn't watch as much.
  7. I don't care about lineup order all that much, but if it were up to me (with the caveat that we still had to stick with Sori at leadoff to keep it realistic), I'd go... Sori, Fontenot, Aramis, Bradley, Soto, Lee, Fuku, Theriot
  8. It's nice to win on opening day for once. Let's make it 2-0 and keep the possibility of a wire-to-wire run alive.
  9. Pissing off Cubs fans is dead easy if you play for the Cubs. Then why can't Soto or Marmol figure it out? Marmol has found ways of doing it in the past. Such as giving up homers to ray freaking durham. or blowing like an eleventy run lead in Harden's first start
  10. Blown saves? Really? Let's judge starting pitchers on wins and losses too. Wood's performance last year likely has nothing to do with why he's not with the team anymore. He was very, very good.
  11. He's really not, but ok. See what you say in June when he's blown three or four saves. I'd rather have Ceda on the roster. So the fact that you'd rather have Ceda on the roster is justification for saying he's brutal? He's not. Your made up hypothetical isn't really much support for your case either.
  12. He's really not, but ok.
  13. I do blame you for thinking they're worth worrying about, though. :)
  14. Oh, right. That would fly right over my head. I don't really blame you around here.
  15. I wonder if the Olympics could result in a new stadium for the Cubs somehow, sort of like what happened in Atlanta. :-k Are they planning any facilities that wouldn't be temporary?
  16. It was a.... ugh nevermind.
  17. The Cardinals.
  18. As for that first part... what does that even mean? "The only reason they managed to finish 4th and win 86 games is because they were lucky enough to have an unbelievable season."
  19. They won 86 games. They WERE good. The only reason they finished 4th is because they played in an awesome division. They didn't "go away". We just were lucky enough to have an unbelievable season. If they win 86 games again this season that means they're probably in the division race right to the end. I don't think they'll be as good as last year, but I think it's ridiculous to ever write that team off at this point. They're the Cardinals. lol there it is
