    you're saying they have a better starting lineup than the cubs? or that their rotation is better than the cubs' minus harden? one is slightly less laughable than the other.

    Harden looked good in his starts before the simulated one too. And Bruce was the one who reported to us (don't know if he saw it first hand or not) that Harden was in the mid-90s. I tend to trust him. It's not that big of a leap to think, given his innings load (or lack thereof) this spring and his history and the history of pitchers in general that he was going through typical dead arm stuff that pitchers go through around this time of year (well, usually a little earlier). Lilly has sucked lately too and started last year throwing in the low 80's. It's not that uncommon. I'm not saying there's nothing to be concerned about. I'm just saying it's not worth reacting much to until we see what happens in the next few weeks.

    lol... screamin A I'm so conflicted right now... I can't wait for the season to start but there's little I hate more than fall/winter. Part of me wants to skip forward and, with summer around the corner, part of me never wants to get there.

    Not really. The Cubs are massive favorites for a reason. What's the deal with people who worry about/warn against fans getting ahead of themselves and taking things for granted, anyway? We're not the players. We don't affect the outcome.

    Didn't we get enough this with Prior/Wood in '04 and '05? I'm not sure what this even means. So we shouldn't have an extremely high upside guy who is an injury risk in our rotation because we've had pitchers who have gotten hurt a lot before (a lot of teams have histories like this, as pitchers tend to get hurt a lot)? As you noted, we're not even relying on him that much.

    Harden had starts last year where he was mostly in the upper 80's. I don't know why some of you guys are so surprised at this. Concern is understandable, but his velocity was up and down last year, even more so toward the end of the season. Not more than 2-3 weeks ago Bruce reported that he was averaging 93 in his simulated outing. This weekend could've just been a dead arm start.

    That said, I wouldn't be in favor of a new park in the suburbs or something. A lakefront park would be the coolest thing ever IMO but it wouldn't work due to weather and crap. We have this conversation every year.

    ????????????????????????????????? I know it's a pre-season game: but it seams a bit out of the way. Why didn't they just put another east coast team there? I'm guessing because they wanted a premier team and a matchup with the Mets wouldn't work because they're doing a dress rehearsal with their stadium.

    Not sure... but last year, his rating on the road was slightly better than at home.

    I ordered mine from the Chicago Bears store. They must have some sort of inside info, right? I'm sure they wouldn't ship any jerseys until they knew the real number, even if he changes it.

    I still have a magazine from early-season '06. The cover: "On the Hot List: Rex Grossman" Remember the Pro-Bowl voting commercial with Rex and Moose? That was pretty awesome.
