  1. Who is that in your avatar, Keeley Hazell? misa campo
  2. how many times can pat make me think we hit a hr in an inning? that must've been some kind of record
  3. Isn't it a mutual option after 2011 for Aramis?
  4. I can't imagine that anybody had them 32nd following the 05 season, but I suppose anything is possible. Maybe it was before 05. He definitely had them No. 32 preseason one year where they were good. I would've picked them pretty low, too. Maybe not 32nd with that defense, but the team was terrible in 04, so there wasn't much to go on there. And they were going into the season with a rookie Kyle Orton having beaten out Chad Hutchinson for the starting QB job. The 04 team was ravished with injuries especially defensively and it was the first year of implementing Lovie's cover 2 system. I expected the 05 team to he much improved with grossman healthy (at least we thought at the time) and an outside shot at competing for a wild card spot in a weaker NFC. It really depends on how early these rankings were. Grossman got hurt in the preseason and we, again, went into the regular season with Kyle Orton as the starting QB. The defense still hadn't hit the stride it hit in 05, and we really had no idea what to expect from them and if Lovie's defense would amount to anything.

  6. Haha, this is awesome. Missed one line, but otherwise got it very quickly. I still say it's TWIST turned upside down, no matter what that quiz says. Nah, that's flipped. But I did always think it was "Yo Holmes, to Bel Air" It is. That's wrong.

  8. Right. It's no mystery when surprise WRs like an Eddie Royal or Marques Colston have Jay Cutler and Drew Brees throwing to them.
  9. Right. I sort of misinterpreted what you were saying, but yea. I am sort of of the feeling that whoever gets thrown to a lot is the guy who steps up. We shall see... It'll be interesting to see what happens with Cutler going to what is viewed as a crappy corps of receivers and Orton going over to what is seen as a solid, if not great, group of playmakers this year. I tend to think the QB makes all the difference and it'll be interesting to see if that holds true in this particular case. All that said, I find it hard to feel slighted by a guy who puts the Bears 4th in the NFL at this point. :)
  10. And where does King even say that someone is going to step up and become a solid WR? He pretty much just points out that the Bears and Cutler will have to get by with what he deems an inferior corps of receivers.
  11. I'm of the opinion that outside of the truly elite receivers, like a Randy Moss or a TO (in his prime), and a few pretty good ones just a cut below, they're all pretty much the same. Most of them are mediocre and are as good as their QB's make them. That's not to say that some aren't better than others, but I just feel that the QB is the much bigger part of the equation. Going into 06, people were clamoring for the Bears to get Ashley Lelie or Joey Porter. Then Rex Grossman made Bernard Berrian a name and figured out that Des Clark could still run somewhere and catch the ball. I just don't think it matters all that much. They're in the NFL for a reason.
  12. but i always did think he was saying "that this cab was weird" i only found out a few years ago that he was saying "rare"
  13. i've always thought it was "flipped"

  15. If we could keep it to just NBA, MLB, and NFL, I could probably get them all...
  16. I actually posted this morning on another forum that it'd be nice to have Freels on our roster instead of Gathright, so I'm mildly pleased by this.
  17. How badly did we rank in offensive TOP last year?
  18. That too... I'm pretty optimistic about the defense given the offense and hopefully improved play at the line. If we get push out of the line again, our secondary becomes that much better and the holes become that much less obvious. Staying off the field and having leads should help make that happen. If we can generate some turnovers and get awesome field position again, points shouldn't be all that hard to come by. Needless to say, I'm really excited to watch this season unfold.
  19. Marinelli's reputation goes beyond just what most of the defensive linemen on the team are saying about him right now. Sapp and Rice still rave about him. And you could say the defense in Tampa had some success there for quite a while, if that's what you want to base things on. I have to give more of that credit to Monte Kiffin and Tony Dungy rather than Marinelli. Sure they were good, but they also signed/drafted extremely talented defensive lineman. Marinelli didn't make Warren Sapp. I don't disagree with that at all. I'm just saying that maybe there's something to it when there are so many extremely positive reviews from linemen who have played for him. I've never heard QUITE this much raving about a positional coach beyond your run of the mill offseason fluff pieces. We'll see, I guess.

  21. And maybe I shouldn't treat football and baseball as analogous there, but I thought it was valid.
  22. The slightest improvements for those guys could be the key in them returning to form, though. And a lot of people were saying the same about Gerald Perry and that the new staff wouldn't make much of an impact on established players. FF to 2008 and the whole team is walking more than ever. Granted, a few of those guys, especially Geo, were young and could've easily already had this approach going in or could have been more "mold-able", but a guy like Aramis was established and still had a pretty clear change in approach that showed itself in his stats. Edmonds credited Perry with suggesting an adjustment for him that made him suddenly not worthless for us. I tend to think it was the staff more-so than the "Fukudome's approach is rubbing off on the whole team" nonsense that was being spouted by the usual suspects in the media. Anyway, just stating the obvious in that these things could go either way. He could make no appreciable impact, or he could get resurgences from guys like Tommie Harris and Mark Anderson and he could mold a guy like Gilbert into a great 3 technique.
  23. They're raving about his techniques and his philosophies. Calling him a genius. Nothing that it would indicate that it has anything to do with him being easy on them or that he even is that.
  24. I'm pretty excited about Marinelli, too. By all accounts, the guy is awesome at what he does. The players all seem to be big believers. You don't usually hear guys rave about a positional coach like this. It reminds me a little of when we picked up Gerald Perry in terms of being something that is going sort of unnoticed but we might hear a whole lot about this season if the line plays well. We have a lot of talent on the line and it could be really nice if those players figure out how to better use their abilities.
