  1. Because Reed is good against LHP and we don't really have any infielder that's particularly good, I would guess.
  2. Russell Martin announced that for the 2009 season, the name printed on his jersey will be changed to "J. Martin" in reference to one of his middle names "Jeanson", in honor of his mother.[22]
  3. Well there's two holes to that theory. The first being Jordan probably improved from his early 20's to late 20's. Secondly a lot of the other stars retired around this point leaving the league more wide open. While I don't think that MJ would have won without Pippen, you can't ever really know for sure. I've always wondered too if Pippen wasn't helped more by Jordan becoming a more complete player and helping make his teammates better. Pippen was an absolutely great player (on both ends of the court). I hate when people try to sell him short (and I know that you're not doing that). That team was great without Jordan. You took Jordan away from the 93 team, replaced him, essentially, with Pete Meyers and Toni Kukoc, and the team was still a bad call away from the conference finals and who knows how far thereafter. I feel safe enough saying that without Pippen and with a bad supporting cast like those Bulls of early in his career, Jordan would probably not have won a single ring. That said, with an average supporting cast, he might've pulled off one or two. But the point was that if the team around him is bad enough, even the GOAT could probably go an entire career without a ring. Obviously, it's just a made up hypothetical, so it proves nothing at all, really, but it illustrates the point.
  4. Do we really need specific examples? It's pretty likely that if Jerry Krause hadn't paired Jordan up with Scottie Pippen or a similarly great player and the Bulls kept producing rosters like those of the mid 80's around him, he never would've won a title. Same player, same skills, same abilities, but no rings.
  5. There's no source on that deal. No way it's real. Rumorpress has never been right about anything ever. Actually, tech (the RealGM poster whose site that is) has been right about a few things.
  6. I thought the consensus was that LT is pretty much done.
  7. What I am saying is that Cleveland is an grossly overrated team that is only good because of one player. This series has shown, IMO, Orlando is the better team and when the series is over and the Cavs are at home licking their wounds, people will realize how overrated this Cavs truly was. A grossly overrated team doesn't win 66 games and 39 at home. They've been neck and neck in every game. You're acting like they're losing games by 20 points and being exposed or something.
  8. If only Lou would start driving in more runs, maybe hitting for better average. Maybe he could've caught that ball at 2nd that Miles muffed. Or he could have come in an thrown lefty instead of Cotts. Stupid Lou. His ejection in 2007 completely changed that season. I think we had the best record in the majors after that ejection. Why not try it again? He should have done it yesterday on that bang-bang play with Freel at 3rd base. Seriously? No, really? Wow.
  9. Yea, I was mostly just being a condescending smart ass. :)
  10. When was that?
  11. I'm thinking real hard, and I don't think, all factors considered, that there's a QB in the NFC, short of Drew Brees, that I'd rather have. In the AFC, sure, there's a few. Just for one year, or as a franchise QB? If for just one year, I'd probably take Warner or McNabb over him (along with Brees). If as a franchise QB, he's second only to Brees in the NFC. You're right, though, there are a number of QBs I'd take in the AFC (Peyton, Brady, Rivers, healthy Palmer). Yea, I meant taking everything into account. Age, future, etc. Even for just one year, though, I wouldn't take McNabb. And I'm pretty iffy on Warner's resurgence.
  12. BTW, note the hilarious sound effect they added on every pass he throws. :-)) It's the War Drums! You can't have a top QB without War Drums, come on now. 8-) Actually, it was more that WOOOOSSHH sound on every pass like it's being shot out of a cannon. I just think it's hilarious how they added that and synced it up to every throw. :-))

  15. Looks like he's played 16 games every year of his career except 06 and 07 when he missed 5 and 7 respectively. He played all 16 in 08, though.
  16. Soriano. Looks like Lou is thinking about it.
  17. Some highlights from yesterday's practice... http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/multimediapopup.asp?mm_file_id=1500&play_clip=Y&rn=3
  18. That's a much more glowing review than every other account I've heard of that practice. Apparently, there were lots of drops. Receivers are having trouble adjusting to the heat on Cutler's throws. Not that it matters much, it's the first day of OTAs. Still a ways to go. I read that too, which seems completely contradictory to the Daily Herald article saying only one ball hit the ground. And the Daily Herald article is definitely wrong. There's footage of way more than one drop. Maybe he wrote that after only watching a part of practice or something.
  19. SD Union Tribune reporting that no deal is imminent and it's unlikely that Peavy will be traded to the Sox. http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/may/21/padres-peavy-deal-white-sox-not-imminent-9274/?sports&zIndex=103201
  20. The thought among Sox fans is the offense will pick up with the weather as it has in past seasons. *shrug*

  22. Even if/when the deal gets done, it doesn't mean that in December, Hendry rejected a deal with a package similar in value. That's all I'm saying.
  23. What a joke. Eff Hendry if this is the deal that get's done. That's like Marshall, Wells, and Fontenot. Eff Hendry for what exactly? If he rejected Peavy for the Cubs equivelant of Poreda, Lillibridge, and Floyd and that is the trade that comes (which it probably isn't). This never happened.
