  1. You guys must have some weird kind of ptsd
  2. lol wtf hendry is so long gone from my awareness/consciousness about this team. i barely remember that he exists. it was so weird to see him pop up at our NLDS game. felt like i'd seen a ghost.
  3. And the random arguments about how the Cubs aren't that good because they don't have enough pitching to win a World Series.
  4. I made a quick attempt to try to find it and nearly had a heart attack reading FB comments about baseball. I don't know why reading people's stupid thoughts and/or opinions raises my blood pressure so much. The sheer amount of people commenting on these articles who seemingly have no clue as to what salary arbitration is is...interesting. That Arrieta is such a team player! Taking a one year deal for 1/3 what greedy guys like David Price make!

  6. Where is this from?
  7. http://chicagocubsonline.com/archives/2016/02/theo-epstein-talks-cubs-baseball-with-csnnes-sean-mcadam.php These are a couple of the Q&A I found interesting. More at link.
  8. i know everyone (myself included) is going to be super against a long-term extension for arrieta. so . . . FUN GAME what is the maximum six year contract (2016-2021) the cubs could give arrieta that would make you say "oooh nice job cubs" and smile real big? There's nothing realistic that I'd be happy about. But if he is awesome again in 2016, I'll have more comfort that he can throw this many innings and that he's actually awesome and my willingness to throw a bunch of money at him will go up. Outside of the CY pitching thing, he's awesome too. I agree with your post overall, but he is absolutely actually awesome. He was just as good in 2014 and there was nothing all that flukish about the way he did it in either season. Just saying.
  9. Think you are thinking of the others.
  10. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/36295/cubs-gm-jed-hoyer-qa-everyone-is-getting-ready lots of other tidbits at the link
  11. mid 20's AAV which seems unrealistic as hell, but who knows. anymore than that, though, and i'm content to get this year for $10M and next year for a few more and call it a day. i do love that man though.

  13. That's part of it, though as we've brought up multiple times, you've had key players regress or stagnate. Nobody was counting on Rose being anywhere near this bad if he could stay even remotely healthy, for McDermott to basically remain a non-entity and for Mirotic to not move forward at all from what he started to show last season. A healthy Rose and Mirotic seemed like good bets to keep this team chugging along with the other key parts they have, but now it's basically just Jimmy and a couple of decent older dudes and then a bunch of bodies most nights. Like I said, Hoiberg very well could be a bad hire, but right now he's coaching a Frankenstein's monster of a team that's not really consistently good at anything. And I don't think Thibs being here would make much of a difference in the overall picture. The defense would be better at times, but the offense would be even worse. Best sports related post I've seen from you.
  14. I don't think it's at all surprising that the Cubs are one of nine teams interested in a major ifa. Almost 1/3 of the league is. Doesn't mean they have one of the highest offers.

  16. I think all of them are supposed to be there for the time being. I can't think of one I haven't been able to find, plus ESPN's own commercials are claiming you can watch them all on Netflix right now. I remember looking for the Bartman one several weeks ago and it wasn't up. It might be up now. I'm not sure they're ever all supposed to be up 100% of the time, but I could be wrong.
  17. Some 30 for 30's are on Netflix streaming. Some aren't. They swap some in all the time. Even really new ones get up pretty quick.
  18. could it have used a little 30 for 30 The U type treatment? Big time. Or "Pony Excess"-like, that really charts the downfall. Basically if the point of it was to argue they were the best team ever, it failed. If the point was to figure out why they didn't go on to further greatness, it failed. It was just this muddled bunch of kinda fan-service basically just designed for the participating players and Ditka to talk themselves up. And it was weird how they didn't touch on the problems the Fridge has gone through at all. Watching it, I felt like Ditka wasn't painted in a positive light at all. Like I felt like minimizing him and making him look like a dummy was a major, if not completely overt, theme...between all the players directly criticizing him, McMahon talking about how he always called the wrong play, Wilson (IIRC) basically calling him an idiot for playing Flutie, the comments from Mongo (I think) about how they told the other guys to lift Ditka up at the end of the SB just so that he wouldn't whine about them raising Buddy up. Maybe that was my bias going in, but I came away thinking Ditka looked more along for the ride and less responsible for any success than ever, and I already didn't have a high opinion of him.
  19. Yeah, it wasn't bad, but it could have been a LOT better. I would have preferred something a little less fanboy-ish; I don't know if more critical is the right term, but something that really did try to figure out why a team that great didn't go on to more. This seemed to have a similar tone to the one about the Bills, which I thought was really well done, but this isn't a team that needs praising or vindication. This basically needed the opposite: OK, you guys are great at talking up how great you are, but what happened? If it really was simply Ryan leaving, then this could have just been one of the shorts, if bothering to make it at all. Without having really experienced that era first-hand, I always got the impression that it was McMahon's injuries along with Ditka being a boob and being a boob with the QB position. And maybe some bad luck.
  20. Plus he didn't necessarily say it was weak. Just weaker than other 30 for 30's. 30 for 30's, overall, are mostly great, so that's not exactly saying it was a pile of crap.
  21. probably should be second on that list.
  22. plus i think he was directly trying to call out brandon's post...or posters here or something, when 95% of the posters here weren't even born in 1969.
  23. Agree 100%. Sad to see Buddy Ryan in a wheelchair and suffering. But always good to see Otis Wilson highlights. CSN did an hour program on the 46 Defense and it also was good. Danny White of the Cowboys said that Otis' hits caused White to have two spinal fusions because of his hits. One quick Buddy Ryan story. The Bears were losing at halftime and Buddy goes over to Wilbur Marshall in the locker room and says: "Why don't you take a shower and sit up there with the rest of the cheerleaders." Marshall was pissed and went out in the second half and destroyed the other team. Funny that some people wallow in a '69 team that never won anything and downplay an '85 World Champion. Odd. who?
  24. Meh, I didn't watch it, but I'm sooooooo over the 85 Bears as to have almost no interest at all. I never cared at all about the 85 Bears and it was really good
  25. I know. That's what I said you were saying.
