  2. yes he got hurt
  3. His minor league numbers really don't suggest that much more though. He's a 3 WAR guy thanks to defense his first few years, then offense after. Plenty valuable, just not a superstar. that's what he was as a 21 year old in the big leagues for the first time. his offense trended upward as the year went on. and he did that hitting 9th and not in a full season. hitting 9th had a decent sized impact on his ability to contribute offensively (and therefore up his WAR) as it limited his PA a good amount too. sidenote - his offensive numbers were really solid vs rhp. i hadn't noticed his splits and .200 BABIP vs lefties last year. i can't imagine that he'll struggle that much vs lhp going forward.
  4. Prime? .275 .345 .460 BABIP it up by twenty points each in a career year. I think he's 4-5 years from a year like that if he does it though. or did you guys mean javy in this question? if so, then that's even crazier
  5. this trash team is so horsefeathering stupid
  6. Prime? .275 .345 .460 BABIP it up by twenty points each in a career year. I think he's 4-5 years from a year like that if he does it though. you can't get behind a prospect you think will put up a .275/.345/.460 at his best with neutral BABIP luck and play the most difficult position at an elite level? the horsefeathers? and i'll take the under on his peak being 4-5 years from now. primes don't really work that way anymore.
  7. russell doesn't just play a premium position. he plays it at an elite level. and he just hit 13 HR in less than a full season as a 21 year old and his minor league numbers suggest there's still more to his bat. and he walks at a decent clip already too.
  8. ...he says nervously while tugging at the collar of his shirt Nah. Russell is the kind of prospect/young player I can't get behind. Good, not great hitter in any way who I think is overvalued because they play a premium position. Think Baez has a better future. i love javy and i think you're insane
  9. Ugh you're right...That's so dramatic. I thought at least Sickels had him in there. Who goes from consensus not-a-system-top-30 to top 60 or potentially better prospect at 23, 7 years into a pro career? That's so odd. In my defense, I had him safely in the top 30, IIRC even top 20, and assumed all the big ones did too. I'd still give the Markey/Penalver/Baez trio an exceptionally long shot at taking the kind of leap Contreras did. suuuuuuuuure you did
  10. Sickells doesn't mention him at all and lists like 46 guys total here http://www.minorleagueball.com/2014/12/7/7351045/chicago-cubs-top-20-prospects-for-2015
  11. not to mention what the hell does jon greenberg know about analytics
  12. You aren't going to beat Chicago's quantity-quality of restaurants combo unless you move to SF or NYC. Maayyyyybe LA. don't caaaaaarrrrreeeeeeeeee
  13. The people behind this are monstrous alcoholics or did this on a dare or a lost bet because it's one of the most blatantly stupid business ideas I've ever seen. well i'm pretty sure they do like to consume alcohol
  14. it's $10? That's nuts. yup compared to what people pay for like netflix, it seems insane
  15. This would be WAYYYYY down the priority list, but if you click "Show list with all like actions" on your profile page, it shows you all the likes you've gotten or given, but the links to the posts are all dead.
  16. literally the only thing (aside from the people i have here...mainly family) that i'd miss about moving somewhere like that is being able to see the Cubs at wrigley. don't care about going to bulls games and i never go to football games. yeah, there's good restaurants and bars but other places have those too.
  17. ^BTW, this seems to me like a terrible idea. i'd never pay $10 a month for local sports writing, and i'm a pretty avid local sports fan. there's more than enough free quality content out there.
  18. i predict: almora is back in the top 50 by the time midseason lists roll around contreras into the top 50 of all lists EJM off all lists
  19. I'm formerly Peoria. That's all the representin' it needs! But, loved listening to Brickhouse. Geez I'm old. Peoria to San Diego? God damn that's one hell of an upgrade.
  20. i remember when having a bunch of top 100 guys seemed pretty awesome now i'm like nobody in the top 25? MEH
  21. Trevathan and Berry would be nice.
  22. Rather than ask where the needs are this offseason for the Bears, the better question seems to be where we are actually okay heading into next year. QB, WR (I'm not considering it at all likely that Jeffery is gone next year), RB, TE, 1 S, 1 CB, an OLB, a couple interior DL, probably a couple guys on the OL who are fine, how fine depends on Long
