  1. If the Cubs want to sell their beer cheaper than the bars, they should be able to do so. Oh, I agree, I'm just saying the bar owners concerns certainly aren't unwarranted. It's up to them to figure out how to survive. Gotcha.
  2. There are bars in Chicago that still do it on Thursday and even Friday nights. well that's BS. all the bar owners in greenville got together about 5 years ago or so and spiked their prices. I mean, crap beer still has decent deals at some places on some nights, but rarely (if ever) do I see anything sold less than 2-3 dollars. All that said I usually end up getting an IPA or something on tap so it's whatever. well, to be clear, they're usually dirty cesspools and, if they're drafts, they're insanely extra watered down. i just know because i have a friend who is very cheap and likes to frequent these types of places. i at least try to keep him to the places that have bottles since they can't water those down extra.

  4. For one [expletive] dollar, no less. I can't even find that deal in this cheap ass college town anymore. There are bars in Chicago that still do it on Thursday and even Friday nights.
  5. Inside Wrigley is a captive audience. Not at all the same thing.
  6. Was it mojo who thought you could DH for the shortstop or catcher if you wanted to the last time this was brought up?
  7. french toast is like pizza. i have yet to meet a slice of french toast that wasn't delicious when slathered with enough butter and syrup. Always settling, David. Always settling. the point is these things are all just a medium to get as much syrup, powdered sugar, and butter in our mouths as possible. as long as they aren't rotten or something, their main features are texture and their ability to withstand the soaking in syrup.
  8. So the bar owners are taking over for the rooftops now. Afraid the Cubs will sell beer too cheap in the plaza, show the games on the big screen, and take all of their business. Maybe make your bars suck less, jerks. https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20160121/wrigleyville/dont-sell-cheap-beer-at-wrigley-plaza-undercut-us-bar-owners-beg-cubs

  10. yeah, back to what i said earlier. i have no idea how people can eat eggs, esp scrambled, in large quantities. i like scrambled eggs. but no horsefeathering way can i eat more than like 3, maybe 4, before i am repulsed by eggs. just one of those things i guess.
  11. https://twitter.com/JulieDiCaro/status/690246136255365121 my opinion on this will shift quickly if she is right
  12. I'd say it would be worth watching pennant race games in September but we won't have any of those.
  13. And Willson Contreras? And Lucroy will be 30 this year. Not saying I'd be opposed to acquiring him at the right price (which it probably wouldn't be), but catching isn't really a concern in the short or long term. Nowhere did I say I wanted Lucroy or Contreras; the guy was incredulous over the idea that anyone would be talking about the general idea of the Cubs picking up a new catcher and I provided a couple of reasons why they might do such a thing. Not letting you get away with editing out where you proved you had no idea who the Cubs 1st or 2nd best prospect is. Nope.
  14. Montero will be 33 this year and Schwarber is an emergency catcher. And Willson Contreras? And Lucroy will be 30 this year. Not saying I'd be opposed to acquiring him at the right price (which it probably wouldn't be), but catching isn't really a concern in the short or long term.
  15. Erm, wow...
  16. As a semi-outsider (I've bandwagon jumped enough that I'll watch during the playoffs and maybe at some point that'll get me interested enough to watch regular season because more sports to watch with interest = good), and as someone who followed the stuff about the case on here in the offseason along with you guys, I'm just wondering how icky you guys feel about how insanely good of a year Kane is having. I'm obviously a hockey noob, but it's hard not to hear about how well he's played this season. Every time I see something on the news or on Twitter about him having another awesome game or streak or whatever, I'm like OF COURSE this is playing out this way.
  17. that's how they do it in the australian leagues it's called the Coriolis effect
  18. stupid fingers
  19. If there MUST be the occasional megathread, down with musings, up with chit chat So today while I was driving in to work, they were talking about this, from Dave Cameron's chat, on the Score: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/dave-cameron-fangraphs-chat-12016/ Then some lunatic calls in 5 minutes later talking about how he almost drove off the road when they were saying this (they replied that they were just reading what Dave Cameron said), and how he'd definitely take the Sox pitching over the Cubs. Lester and Lackey are old and will break down at the end "just like they were last year" and Arrieta had a horseshoe up his butt last year. They stopped him and asked him if he wouldn't take Arrieta, to which he first responded that he would never in a million years take him over Sale. They said they weren't asking about Sale, but would he take Arrieta on the Sox staff. Then he replied that, sure, he'd take him, but he'd be their 4th starter because he doesn't have a wipeout pitch like Rondon and Arrieta has never been as good as Quintana long term (or something like that). He also said the Cubs might not be that good because if you look at the back of their players' baseball cards, there's only one year, and Josh Phegley had a good year once too. I just wanted to share this.

  21. nooo horsefeathering way! what? that's pancakes easily and it's a big reason why i have them last. once they are good and soaked with syrup, pancakes can become a soupy mess real quick. you're not wrong about waffles though
  22. If we can somehow keep him off the roster but on the bench, that'd be cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VftKkUbrL88
  23. Could still trade for a Rockies OF too
  24. lol neil funk didn't understand what was being referenced with the devo hats. he probably thinks the 80s were just yesterday.
