ok, fixed he's not going through puberty and steroids aren't as easy to come by so I think the safe answer is he's shown his power abilities. hey sweet post that isn't an answer to my question and the notion that steroids are the only way to add significant strength and muscle for a 21 year old is horsefeathering hilariously laughable

I couldn't say for sure, but I assume the safe answer is no. the safe answer is that no, a player who has no issues making contact wouldn't have a decent chance of hitting the ball harder as he gets bigger and stronger?

Are upside and ceiling interchangeable words and that's why one got swapped for the other here? I'm legitimately confused, feel like if I went in knowing they were the same thing I would have chosen more carefully and gone with neither word. A .137 IsoSLG from your best offensive season, in the lower minors, isn't something to hang your hat on. The most promising thing about that performance is probably the contact skills, which no one will be denying anytime soon. I'd like to work with more of what he's been most often rather than what he might be if he gets way better. would it be reasonable to argue that there's a decent chance that someone with great contact skills could maintain those contact skills and hit for significantly more power as he grows into his early mid 20s and adds muscle?

ceiling is a really subjective high end projection based off a combination of scouting and stats based analysis. there's no way to give an exact answer on what it is or what a given player's is.

Does upside mean imagined ceiling based on gut feelings and perceptions? :shrugs: Wouldn't it be more practical to look at his "upside" in terms of his performance through age 21 overall and the scouting reports that have come with it? What's so wise about reacting to the latest mechanical tweak and a few week's worth of new data that's way better than anything else he's done before? Well, you could say that about anything they do, since they will be in NBA hell for as long as lebron james is lebron james and the warriors exist. but yeah, if they passed on that deal, i am not pleased

Aldridge did claim that that deal was fiction that was leaked by one side...but Mannix and Woj stayed pretty adamant that it was coming from both ends.

Well, yeah, except most of the projections have them in the low to mid 90s, not 100. So they would need some positive variance overall to get to 100. None of the statistical projections have them in the low to mid 90s except PECOTA. Vegas is not a stat projection. Steamer has them at 99, ZiPs has them at even more WAR so pending the baseline it could be even higher. Oh, thanks for letting me know Vegas isn't a stat projection. I believe these are Steamer based http://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Standings http://claydavenport.com/projections/PROJHOME.shtml And be careful taking individual player WAR projections and adding them to a replacement level value to come up with a win total. It gets you close, but it's not perfect.
