it's kind of amazing to remember that this org had like a 20 year run or something without producing a sort of good position player now we've got a guy who is a little bit of an afterthought breaking the guy from 2 years ago's fastest to 20 HR record -
given the schedule, i think we have a reasonable (but definitely outside) shot at 95 wins. which is horsefeathering insane given where we were at the ASB.

i don't know horsefeathers about any of the leagues transactional intricacies. thank god mlb barely has anything resembling a salary cap at least. i thought that if multiple teams put a claim on the same player, the team with the lowest winning percentage wins (without getting into tiebreakers and such) True, but NL before AL. oh...that's dumb. i just figured the same league thing was for tie breaking (which is still dumb)

yeah, i'd have to think even if the non contenders are out, either one of the AL wild card contenders would take him or the brewers/cards just to keep him from us. I expect Some to not know how waivers work but not you David, not you. i just figure if you can do it now, might as well. having to figure out who to bump in the playoffs, if there's reason to actually have a debate over that, would be a good problem to have imo. quintana could keep sucking. lester could keep sucking. someone could get hurt.

Sounds like they are doing this to save $600k. FWIW, he has been worth more than Wade Davis this year in terms of fWAR (or any other Cubs pitcher besides Jake, Hendricks and Lester) woah

I had certainly noticed that about his peripherals myself, but in terms of what he gets paid, I doubt the entirety of the market is going to behave in accordance with xFIP.

Mike North is so bad that the afternoon sports talk radio show in Columbus makes fun of him pretty much daily. Columbus sports radio is so bad that they somehow knew Mike North was still on the air somewhere.

who do you care that i care? i care because kaplan is terrible and in no way merits a long form article in the chicago tribune. and i posted it because that's what this thread is for. Kaplan was the leader of the Hispanic players are lazy brigade and Mike North is just a huge bigot and the Chicago media spent the past 2 days talking about how hard these 2 guys work.
