  3. I really don't buy that it was primarily a smoke screen, even if that worked as a plus in the end. i don't think it was primarily that...they did need a stop-gap, and they couldn't know for sure if they'd get mitch. but i do think it was a factor for them and something they took into account when signing him vs. say retaining hoyer or something low key like that.
  4. Uh, no? And I hate him but this is just a really strange statement. Nothing baffling or short sighted about it. I agree. I said this a couple pages back, but I think his signing really helped throw the NFL off the Trubisky trail. The narrative before the draft was that the Bears are going defense because they had their QB. You had a reporter in the Chargers draft room quoting John Lynch as thinking they were trading up for defense. The Bears got their QB of the future, which is as future oriented as you can get, when any number of teams could have traded up ahead of them if they hadn't been thrown off the scent or the Browns could have just taken their guy. So to me, and I know this is still not the widely held belief, the signing of Glennon was a master stroke of long term strategy. One thing I found out this week that supports this view is that the trip Pace and the coaching staff took to NC occurred before they signed Glennon. So I'd think by that time they already had their ideal plan in place. And even if they weren't able to get their guy, Glennon seems like he's a better hedge than anything they had in FA. Unless one would consider sticking with Cutty to be the best long term option. Again, just my opinion, but I'm not going to miss a chance to shill. Completely agree. Smokescreen stop gap. The cost is totally immaterial.
  5. Yeah I see all the articles saying how well Glennon played. It looked to me that he played OK but was again completely outplayed by Trubiaky. The clock issues and fumbled snap aside. There is a huge gap in talent and ability. Glennon is truly one of the most bafflingly short-sighted signings in Bears history Uh, no? And I hate him but this is just a really strange statement. Nothing baffling or short sighted about it.
  6. This kid needs to play
  7. wonder what jarvis landry would cost
  8. meh. the cubs play 162 times and this will be our last chance to watch trubisky for a few weeks at least. You think the 4th game will be all Sanchez/Shaw? who knows...i kind of forgot the 4th game exists because i never watch it lol but however much he plays, it'll be with bum ass 3rd and 4th string bums (which only make up the WR corps on the first string offense)

  11. maybe get jordan howard out of this horsefeathering game. doesn't need to see a single snap in the preseason.
  12. glennon looking competent and our one promising young WR destroyed his knee ugh

  14. loving this defense
  15. ugh lots of football left. still hoping for some pick sixes out of this clown.

  20. that's so great
  21. That's how he manages games sometimes, so this checks out actually. i'll give them that at least they seem to be flexible with the way trubisky is forcing the issue (and glennon) fox is just such a damn abrasive and evasive weirdo with the way he deals with media, which is kind of a shame given that everyone who actually interacts with him seems to love him. i don't care that much. it's just annoying to hear him never answer anything with any clarity. [tweet] [/tweet]
  22. [tweet] [/tweet] lol fox
  23. but not weird at all that you know the name of the thread that it probably came from that's the joke (but it wasn't from that thread) that said, i hadn't gone over there since sometime in july
  24. is that from their optimism thread or whatever? why are you still looking at brewers message boards anyway you weirdo
