  1. i don't even know. but looks like since mid-late july. 7/21 was the last game. i knew he was hurt at some point and missed time given his 79 game total, which was what my "2.5ish" comment was based on. didn't realize he was still hurt though.
  2. this has prompted me to check in on starlin's season again after his torrid start. 1.2 wins in 79 games .307/.344/.472 115 wRC+ and .346 wOBA looks like his OPS high water mark was 5/6 against the cubs (went 0 for 8 in the 18 inning game the next day) when he was at 1.006 .381/.421/.584 on that day .266/.301/.409 since i'm surprised that slash line is only good for a 2.5ish win pace from a middle infielder...his defense hasn't graded THAT badly
  3. i'm gonna be in vegas for week 1. i think i might make a small over bet on the win total just for the horsefeathers of it. it's at 5.5. i'd feel a ton better about 4.5, but w/e. i still think this team is closer to mediocre (and could be surprise solid rookie year from trubisky away from being kinda good) than awful, like most (especially the national media) seem to. the schedule still looks rough but the nfl is so weird and unpredictable from year to year that who knows how good those teams really end up being.
  4. Of those 12 losses, only twice did the Cubs not have the potential tying run bat in the 9th: - a 6-2 loss in Arizona where the Cubs scored 2 in the 9th and Zobrist struck out to end the game with runners on first and third. - a 11-4 loss to the Cards that the Cubs led 3-2 in the 8th this horsefeathering game. damn you CJ! edit - meaningless thing i just noticed...we're exactly halfway through the post ASB "second half." so basically if they maintain that pace they go 25-12 again for 93 wins.
  5. Cubs are now 25-12 since the break. .676 or 109 win pace.
  6. i thought the way the 08 team manhandled the pirates was absurd, but this 2016-17 cubs/reds thing is like 10x crazier
  7. late to this but that double play was spectacular
  8. i have no idea if this means anything or not, but i could swear glennon's mug was one of the two pictures on the team website's background all offseason and now he's gone (freeman and howard now)
  9. since duke and everyone declared heyward dead for at least the season yesterday, i believe heyward has like 5 hits (but yah it's the reds)
  10. please give us this rizzo, amazing contreras and recent javy in the playoffs. we will win another world series.
  11. oh, also, fox was directly asked if there was any way trubisky could end up the week 1 starter and basically his answer was along the lines of "i don't like dealing with hypotheticals. we'll focus on this week and go from there." i'd expect him to just shoot it down entirely if there wasn't a real shot.

  14. I've only been reading up on the Cubs and Bears...honestly haven't even noticed their Bulls coverage yet. Haven't heard of any of the writers (doesn't mean they aren't good) though. Main guy seems to be a guy named Stephen Noh.

  16. i may be completely wrong but i think the price came down considerably and was insane at first, which was my main issue with it.
  17. Trying to figure out who is who on this list. Kyle Long Whitehair Sitton? Leno Massie? that's basically how i had it, though referring to kyle long as young (or even elite anymore) seems kind of hollow.
  18. man, if we'd just been able to draft cooper instead of white our WRs are ass, but we're looking very strong at RB (a position i admittedly don't usually care that much about, but cohen looks electric and potentially impactful early on) and TE could be a strength. i just can't wait for mitch to take over, whenever that is. it'll be weird to be genuinely excited to watch bears games again.
  19. i did a couple weeks ago and I haven't regretted it tbh
  20. pretty good reasonable deal for a competent tackle, which i think is all you really need nowadays at that position
  21. The left fielder had the ball before Happ hit third. Dumb send. Nah
