  1. Why do you care? who do you care that i care? i care because kaplan is terrible and in no way merits a long form article in the chicago tribune. and i posted it because that's what this thread is for.
  2. even though i'm fully aware of how super young russell was when he came up and still pretty much is, i was still a little shocked to see that he's about half a year younger than turner.
  3. [tweet] [/tweet] this popped in my feed because i follow some vegas accounts, but i feel like this looks like a bizarro version of KB, montero, lackey, and schwarber or basically the guys that would play them in a made for usa network movie about the 2016 cubs
  4. god damnit [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. i don't really care about the whole where he's listed on the depth chart story as for him playing this week i get to have fun watching trubisky more before we have to watch glennon but i don't love sending him out there with a 2nd and 3rd string o-line, even if he is facing 2nd and 3rd string pass rushers the roughing play in the az game nearly gave me a heart attack when i saw the replay
  6. The only thing their fanbase should be pissed/meatbally about is that they didn't trade away assets at the deadline from their horsefeathers team who is going to be even horsefeathers next year because they can't afford any of their FA in the offseason. Going that long without scoring is crazy but they have a pretty horsefeathers offense, they are near the bottom 20-25 of the league in anything meaningful on offense. yeah...regardless of whether going after the playoff spot was the right move or not (i tend to lean toward aggression when a playoff spot is in realistic play), i thought this tweet from sheehan was strange [tweet] [/tweet] like, the cubs have multiple key contributors that came from trading away lesser players than those within the last 5 years.
  7. you better turn out better than we got the whole 9 did with justin wilson on this
  8. why on earth is this a thing http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/ct-david-kaplan-behind-the-scenes-spt-0827-20170827-story.html
  9. what does this mean? i like it so when i pawn it off as my own i'd like to be able to explain it. It's a simpsons reference. You dont win friends with salad. but that's true of anyone nobody wins friends with salad
  10. baldinger is kind of an idiot but... [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. don't worry, we all get to be bored out of our minds again with football for the next several weeks watching glennon struggle to try to 2005 orton some wins for us
  12. please just admit right now that you had no idea who jordan howard was when you made that post and yes the one dude who said that 20 year thing represents everyone in this thread I know who Jordan Howard is. But go on and be super weird and defensive about this mediocre football team. i mean you're the dude who came into the bears thread and basically said "hey idiots, stop being so excited over your exciting quarterback prospect."
  13. please just admit right now that you had no idea who jordan howard was when you made that post and yes the one dude who said that 20 year thing represents everyone in this thread
  14. speaking of [tweet] [/tweet] tell brooks to stop crowning this guy
  15. that and just being excited about a guy who very much looks the part already, goes through his progressions, keeps his eyes downfield, and has pocket awareness that is noticeably very good. not to mention ridiculous accuracy and arm talent. he has things to clean up, obviously, but it's nothing that should doom him.
  16. Everyone knows sulley is a crazy blowhard (only my teams!), but he wears it on his sleeve. Your measured response is concern that Trubisky isn't Andrew Luck as a prospect. My measured concern is everyone in this thread crowning Mitch's ass before he's thrown a meaningful pass. whatever the hell that means bears fans are far from the only ones excited about trubisky. and just about everything sulley was saying about trubisky's game, minus the hyperbole, obviously, is showing up on the field.
  17. yeah, what a crazy thing to say the running game is elite you'd almost think they had a good offensive line and a guy who ran for 1300 yards last year as a rookie in essentially 13 games...at a 5.2 y/carry clip oh and another promising rookie with ridiculous athleticism is being added to the mix
  18. this is actually so spot on lmao
  19. what's crazy is how much the draft got bashed immediately and how solid the first 4 picks are looking. they may have gotten 4 legit contributors, including a franchise QB, in one draft. that's the good stuff.

  21. Almost all draft related rage is people reacting negatively to deviations from the "established" predicted draft order. I personally love all of the post draft hot takes because literally no one has any idea of how the players in the draft will turn out. Independent of how Trubisky turns out, the trade up seems kind of stupid to me. But marginally stupid as they didn't trade mortgage the future for it. The gave up a 3rd (2017), a 4th (2017), and a 3rd (2018). In the second round, they dropped 9 spots and picked up a 4th (2017), a 6th (2017), and a 4th (2018). While these two moves should probably be evaluated independently, it seems to me the dropped when they felt like they could still get their guy and jumped up when they weren't sure if they could get their guy. It's not completely a wash, but it softens the blow for sure. "The Bears have potentially drafted something they never had before - a franchise quarterback!" "Yeah, but couldn't they have drafted him more economically?" I'm less annoyed by what they gave up to move up, and more concerned about if Trubisky is a "franchise" QB to begin with. Any QB is a gamble, but Trubisky wasn't even a consensus first QB off the board, much less an Andrew Luck-esque "next big thing". mainly because some people don't know that deshaun watson will never throw accurately enough to be all that good.
