They are pissed off about losing a scheduling advantage, plain and simple. The Brewers have the day before off while the Cubs have a night game in Pittsburgh. Are the Cubs even bending any rules? I wonder what the minimum amount of time allowable is to reschedule.

radio is acting like it's 3pm central like the other deadline, but i don't think that's right trades can still happen even into september. to be eligible for the playoffs, a player needs to be in the organization by september 1. so the deadline would technically be midnight, i believe. pretty sure you're right

99% sure it's Midnights EST, needs to be on the roster before Sept 1 to be postseason eligible radio is acting like it's 3pm central like the other deadline, but i don't think that's right

I don't even consider it extra rest. They are in the middle of their longest stretch of the year without an off day (20). This is just Joe fixing what the schedule makers screwed up. Add that its the time of year where team could very likely be making up postponed games, and its kinda ridiculous. Its just serendipitous that its Lester instead of random AAA call up. How isn't this extra rest? It's the literal definition of extra rest, they are getting an extra 1-2 days off between starts. pretty sure he means it's not "extra" per se because they should've gotten it in the first place if the schedule makers hadn't "screwed up"

Yeah, the dude's not some kind of political savant across the board, but let's face it: the people hating on him probably don't even remember the Castro bit. It's all about how he "hates the trooooooopsflageaglecountryfreedom!!!!" And I agree, there's no formal or even handshake agreement to not sign him; thee wasn't with Bonds, either. But these things happen pretty easily among a small group of rich people who tend to have similar mindsets. Yep. And I think a lot of it, if not most, is just, "This guy is not worth the PR/business headache," rather than actually being upset or disapproving of what he did. They don't want to deal with the Murica crowd just for a guy who's marginally a starter level talent, at best.

question for those of you who watch a good amount of both college and NFL football... how many magnitudes better would you say that talent pool of week 4 preseason NFL (so 3rd/4th stringers) is than the upper echelon of college teams?

I'm heavily biased as a Cuban because I really was not at all pleased with the Fidel Castro thing (well, hell, I deal with sulley so...), but I've never had an issue with the kneeling protest and what he was protesting over is and was absolutely a worthy cause. On the one hand, I wouldn't want him on the Bears and hate how he plays, but he's obviously not worse than the like 90 QBs or whatever that have employment. There's no question he's being blackballed, if only passively so, for lack of a better term.

Well, they literally haven't worn the white on white combo since the disastrous week 1 in 2009, where cutler threw 4 or 5 picks in his debut and urlacher was lost for the season. i actually miss that. and i remember the lovie bears hating the blue/blue combo because they always seemed to get their asses kicked when they wore it. i think that's their color rush combo now, which they appear to be wearing vs green bay this year.

I liked them, but I like the new alternates better. I almost wish they were our primaries, though I still like the regular ones too. I think I'm gonna buy a Trubisky alternate as soon as I see one for sale. I don't remember Urlacher making a fuss about the orange ones, but who knows.
