  1. Alright, I give up. Is this supposed to mean Jerome James and John Salmons or do you think his name is James Salmons?
  2. Let's hope the Hall agrees to his wishes to wear a Cubs hat. That would be absolutely hilarious. Too bad there's zero chance of it happening.
  3. I'd be pretty pleased if the Cubs were able to get two prospects like Burke and Carpenter for Theriot, but I cannot see that happening. Burke and Carpenter would be top 10-15 prospects in at least half of baseball's minor league systems, wouldn't they? I'm not a Theriot fan by any means, but I'm with those who don't think a mediocre 30-year old SS making ~$3 million is going to bring back much in a trade.
  4. Have you ever been to NYC? No, and I don't ever plan too. How ignorant then. Ignorant? No. Misguided? Maybe. People severely overrate New York and it'a atmosphere. Besides, I didn't based NY, that would be ignorant, all I said was I didn't see the appeal. I don't understand. How do you know this?
  5. me neither. i've been trying to find the story, but haven't had any luck yet.
  6. That still doesn't make it something that they have to do. How would this "PR nightmare" effect the team? The Cubs stunk last year because 2B turned into a black hole offensively for much of the season, Soto was fat, hurt and awful/had a ton of bad luck and Soriano was bad and playing hurt. Bradley definitely got off to an ice cold start offensively but ended up being a productive player. People aren't going to stop buying tickets and merchandise because of Milton Bradley. Milton Bradley can't make his teammates play worse. Never at any point has moving him beein something they had to do. Who gives a [expletive] if he doesn't like the fans? BECAUSE HE WAS A DISTRACTION IN THE MEDIA, TO HIS MANAGER AND HIS TEAMMATES. NOBODY LIKED HIM AND NOBODY WANTED HIM AROUND. IT WAS A BUSINESS DECISION THAT HE HAD TO BE REMOVED FROM THE CUBS PERFECT, HAPPY, FUZZY, STUPID EXISTENCE. That's just how that [expletive] works. My god, you're a [expletive] loon. You don't get it. It's not my reasoning. I'm explaining why the Cubs did it. Does anyone else not see this when reading my posts???????????? I'm not saying what they should or should not have done. I'm saying it's the Cubs Way. This is how they do things. Public Relations first, Winning second. Again - NOT MY PHILOSOPHY - talking about the Cubs here. I know words are hard, but let's try to read this in context. I just don't understand how this is supposed to make things more acceptable.
  7. I suppose if we miraculously were to get Morror in the deal, it wouldnt help as much. After all, Bradley has his problems, but is still a good player, and Silva, well, isnt. Nah if we got Morrow in this deal it would be a good trade. Milton might be a good player, but you also gotta consider he has very little value at this point. Morrow would then be the main piece in the deal, and Silva you can let battle for the 5th spot or long reliever spot and if he sucks well then release him or hide him on the DL. That said it's probably unlikely we get him as a throw in this deal. I think more realisticly we would probably get some money in return so we can use on other players. THEN DON'T [expletive] TRADE HIM!!!!
  8. no one needs a captain. i don't think i get the joke.
  9. Don't think for a second that there wasn't a large portion of Cubs fans readily buying what Lou was selling with regards to the team being to right-handed. The consensus opinion of NSBB posters is generally not a reflection of what the general population of Cubs fans believes.
  10. Seriously? You have got to be kidding. You propose trading Ramirez, Bradley, Cashner, and Jackson for Miguel Cabrera and you don't understand why that's a horrible deal?
  11. yeah, i searched around for a few minutes and couldn't find anything to confirm that, so i'm probably not remembering correctly.
  12. i thought he became team captain when he signed his last contract, no?
  13. Brad Beal has chosen Florida. What's Plan B for Illinois? Kick it up a notch in their pursuit of Randle? Offer Devin Langford from Alabama? Hang on to the scholarship for 2012? Honestly, I really really wanted Beal, but I'm not too disappointed. Paul, Richardson, Bertrand, Head, Richmond, and Abrams, assuming they're all still around, give UI plenty of talent at the 1-3 spots come 2011-12.
  14. It's a good thing Phil Rogers never ever knows what the hell he's talking about.
  15. Yeah, I know, but after losing Frazier, Meachem, and Brock, other guys are going to have to step it up. I'm confident that Richardson and Jordan will, at least, when they're on the floor. By the way, unless I'm mistaken, this is the most points the Illini have put up since they score 105 on Longwood on December 27, 2004.
  16. Hmm. The announcer said he just scored his 22nd, so if that's the case, I guess that bucket was the one that broke it.
  17. He's tied the with a pair of free throws. I know this is the first game of the season and the competition isn't good, but I think this Illinois offense is going to be fun to watch. McCamey, Paul, and Richardson all seem to have good shots as well as be able to finish strong on drives, which is a nice change from the Meachem-Frazier-McCamey back court of last year. Tisdale and Davis will provide an interior offensive presence. The defense, on the other hand, has not impressed me tonight.
  18. From Mark Tupper's twitter: weber said he hoped to get another ultra-early recruiting commitment soon. could it be thomas hamilton jr.? Hamilton's a 6-9 freshman from Whitney Young.
  19. Can someone tell me at what point possession actually begins as pertaining to the Noah rebound? I'm having a discussion with a friend about this, and as far as I knew, possession, along with the ability to call time out, begins as soon as Noah secures that rebound, regardless of if he is in the air or on the ground. He is under the impression that the player must be on the ground before he is ruled to have possession and able to call time out. Does anyone know which of these is correct, and where I can find an actual NBA rule that explains this?
  20. Regardless of the talent that the Sox gave up in the deal, if Teahen is their replacement for Dye, that's going to be a very light-hitting outfield, especially if (when) Quentin goes down.
  21. oh definitely. there's more than enough talent already in the '09, '10, and '11 classes that just one of those two would make illinois one of the teams to beat in a few years.
  22. oh my god. i'm not going to get my hopes up, but either beal or miller would make for an outstanding class. both would be mind blowing.
  23. Charles Gipson, who had come in to pinch run for Posada.
  24. Was that the game against the Brewers? I'm almost positive he had something like 16 or 17 K's in a game against the Brewers but ended up with the lost. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200306260.shtml You're thinking of this one. 8 IP, 16 K, left with a 3-run lead. Borowski came in to finish it off and gave up a 3-run home run to Geoff Jenkins.
