  1. I’d be fairly surprised if Velus didn’t make the team. It feels like they’re going out of their way to justify keeping him in the name of flexibility. I don’t agree with it, but I think they still want to find a way to unlock the potential they see in him.
  2. hard knocks is 30+ minutes late to drop on max. r/chibears rightfully losing its horsefeathers
  3. That would make sense. I thought about Rahimi and Herron too but each have other commitments.
  4. I like Parkins and Spiegel well enough. I’ll be interested to see who they replace him with. Maybe someone like Ramie Makhlouf or Gabe Ramirez?
  5. Excellent, thank you. One extra step: unless you go in and select what type of content you wish to ignore (posts, messages, mentions), you’ll still see an ignored user’s posts.
  6. I honestly don’t know how. I just poked around and couldn’t figure it out. Care to help?
  7. Honestly, the unhinged takes are bleeding into every single thread lately. It’s obnoxious.
  8. I don’t think SD is quite in our sights yet, but if we’re feeling ambitious, might as well point out that the Brewers lost too. This was about as perfect of an off day as possible.
  9. Decent day for scoreboard watching so far. Braves lost, Giants and Pirates are losing. Reds won.
  10. First time since 1932 that the Cubs have had a scheduled off day on a Sunday, apparently.
  11. Yeah I can go either way on this. The difference between the best punter and worst punter last year was around 7 net y/a. A good offense is punting 2.5-4 times a game. So we’re talking like 17-28 yards of field position in a game. Not nothing, sure, but a bit of a flex of a pick when you still have needs on both sides of the line. But, 4th round picks are lottery tickets and Taylor should appease the meatball side of me that screamed at the tv every time Gill saw the field. So, flex away, I guess.
  12. It would be so nice if he and/or Dexter could establish themselves as key contributors on the DL this year.
  13. Not disagreeing with the questionable use of draft capital (without looking back out who was available, IOL or anywhere on the DL would’ve been my extreme preference), but going from a profoundly bad punter to potentially the best in the league is going to be a very refreshing flip of the script. I had no idea punters could be so bad until Gill came along.
  14. 1 year, $6 million for Connor Williams feels like something the Bears should’ve been in on, even given the uncertainty after his injury.
  15. Oh yeah, 100% in agreement. This team has had adequate or better OLines like three times in 20 years and it drives me nuts. Somewhere along the line this off-season it feels like there was a narrative switch taking hold that the OLine would not be a big issue. Then training camp arrived and, lo and behold, the line looks weak. Again. I wouldn't change anything the bears did with their first round picks the past few years. That said, if you’re not going to invest in OLine in the top few rounds of the draft, you need to be more aggressive in the trade and FA markets.
  16. The names Poles has brought in to improve OL via trade and FA since taking the Bears job: Lucas Patrick, Nate Davis, Ryan Bates, Coleman Shelton, Alex Leatherwood, Michael Schofield, Dan Feeney, and 34-y.o. Riley Reiff. We shouldn’t be surprised that the OLine continues to be bad year after year.
  17. New streak starts tomorrow!
  18. I’m not the world’s biggest Paredes fan, but do you think 5 games is a meaningful sample size to throw away 9 WAR in 2.5 seasons from a 25 year old? Or are you just being willfully obtuse?
  19. Probably would be fair to give him more than five games.
  20. Wait is this a serious argument? That was a boneheaded play but PCA having better range than Belli is not really an open debate.
  21. Yeah, that tweet is from a terribly unfunny parody account that for some reason seemed to gain a lot of visibility last season.
  22. Someone on Reddit pointed out that next Friday is fireworks night at the Cell. I think I’m going to the game with my nephew. Now all I want in life is to witness White Sox break the modern losing streak record by falling to their hated crosstown rival and celebrating the milestone with a fireworks show.
