If he doesn’t get credit for the HR he clobbered on Sunday or for his success against lefties throughout the season and if we’re classifying singles with 100 MPH exit velocity as slappy, yeah I agree he’s been terrible.
Getting rest for a starting group that’s played damn near every day this season is important. Being able to do that without putting Vidal Brujan into the starting lineup is a very good thing.
I was at the game yesterday and it was miserable. Then I had a dream they gave Jed Hoyer the $500 million extension that was earmarked for Tucker. Either the Cubs need to turn it around or I need a horsefeathers break.
Justin Turner against lefties this year after that HR: .292 / .337 / .472. Shaw being competent and Castro being here really lets them optimize JT’s usage.
Someone the other day said they hate his approach and I couldn’t disagree more. He’s worked three 8+ pitch PAs (one that got up to 14) in the last week alone. I love watching him hit. Of course I wish he had more power, but I really like what he brings to the lineup.
Eh, Castro and Happ were each denied an extra base, but both came around to score anyway. If that’s the bad luck you’re referring to, it didn’t really come back to bite them at all.
