  1. Serena lies! Sunglasses man strikes again!
  2. The thing about Mutron that I like is his bat speed. IMO, he'll always hit for a decent to high average, and with his plate discipline he will be a valuable player. The main problem, IMO is the outdated idea that a corner outfielder must hit a high number of HRs. His swing is not likely to do that. He's a line drive hitter who will hit lots of doubles but not a lot of HRs. With a guy like Murton in LF a team will have to look for power somewhere else. For that reason, I think he'll have a long career with a lot of teams. I don't think many Baseball Men who played The Game will have the foresight to build a team without a power hitter in a traditional power hitting position. I don't think that idea is outdated at all. You need to get power in your lineup, and LF is at the bottom of the defensive spectrum, making it easier to stash a big bat there. Obviously it's not an absolute, but if you have a player that struggles to get to an .800 OPS like Murton, it puts a lot of stress on positions that it's much more difficult to get offense from.
  3. ManCrushonNomar is burning you in effigy as we speak.
  4. DeJesus sounds interesting. The only problem with that is that I fear KC will want everything and the kitchen sink for DeJesus. Other than that, I'd like to at least inquire about him. How about someone like Reed Johnson? He's batting .352 with a .431 OBP. He doesn't take many walks, but he's been hit 16 times. Has some decent pop in his bat, and seems to play some solid D. Not sure what his availibility would be, but he'd be someone I'd like. Johnson's having a great year, but he's not doing anything different than previous years where he's a .283/.353/.355/.708 career hitter. His IsoD is a little higher, but that's due to HBP like you noted. He isn't hitting for more power, or hitting more line drives. He has put up a few more fly balls, but nothing nearly enough to make the 65 point difference in BABIP. Johnson would be a decent backup OF, or maybe a stopgap if he could play CF. After his great year this year though, it will take much more than his value to get him.
  5. Catalanotto plays 2b? Man, his bat would be awesome for secondbaseman. Cobs should definitely do that. Hm, looking at his career he played it a lot less than I thought(100 career games). Still like the idea of getting him, except take more action to avoid him being the 2B. His BABIP worries me a little bit though.
  6. hahaha Ray Durham is another option not mentioned in this thread(at least I think).
  7. DeJesus sounds interesting. The only problem with that is that I fear KC will want everything and the kitchen sink for DeJesus. Other than that, I'd like to at least inquire about him. Yeah, it's pretty much banking on Moore not liking him for some reason, and/or DeJesus publicly falling out of favor/wanting out of KC.
  8. Loretta away from Fenway this year: .268/.321/.323/.644 I still like the idea of seeing what Moore would like for DeJesus. Or getting Catalanotto to play LF or 2B(get him first then you get whichever position you can fill the best). Maybe even seeing how Murton would be defensively in CF.
  9. Wuertz threw 22 pitches earlier in the day during game 1. I don't have a problem with him only going 1 inning. Dusty's obsession with double switches is hilarious/frightening.
  10. I don't know, but that's what trades are for. It shouldn't be hard to find a lead-off guy with a .330 OBP who is cheaper than Pierre. If Pierre had more of a recent history of a .350+ OBP, I'd be on board with re-signing him. Leadoff hitters are hard to find. You cant just go out and make a trade for one. Not many teams will deal their leadoff hitter. People who would be good leadoff hitters are not as scarce as you are making it out to be.
  11. Pierre's P/PA is 75th of 90 qualified NL'ers, 141 of 178 MLB'ers. There's nothing Pierre can do that will make it worth it to bring him back. He's proven his entire career that he's not that great, and has been quite bad with some regulatity.
  12. More than make up for his glove? He'd be a middle of the road offensive CF, and that's if he keeps his power surge from this year.
  13. [half argumentative statement]Davenport translations are useless[/half argumentative statement]
  14. Pie is 2 for 3 with a double, his AVG is up to .275
  15. Wolf is an intriguing option, but I wouldn't consider him on the same par as some of the others mentioned, even if he had never had TJS. I could see Hendry going the Dempster/Williamson/Miller route with him.
  16. Also in there: Any confirmation on who the prospects could have been? Kemp or Guzman like Carroll reported? Will Carroll appears to be right on.
  17. That's weird, since he said essentially the exact opposite on here the other day.
  18. He's been back since at least Sunday I believe. Baker made a comment about Speier doing baserunning stuff with players after Saturday's hilarity.
  19. This still doesn't make any sense, why not just make the point you're trying to make?
  20. You're gonna need to elaborate, because there's still no connection between the two. I believe you stated that the Cubs will not need Lee, but rather an OBP stud. Like UK pointed out, that's not what I said, and how does that relate to Choi?
