  1. Isn't the greater point that those hustling plays that performed well should be judged on their performance and not their hustle? The entire point is that productive players are better than hustlers. If a player hustles and makes himself productive that great and he should be applauded for it. If a player doesn't hustle as much and is still productive, he should also be applauded. If a player has great talent and crazy desire and hustle, he's michael jordan. oh wait, baseball. trying harder doesn't necessarily work. I don't know if you meant to convey this, but to add on, hustle is usually reflected in performance. The guy who runs out every groundball and gets on base an extra time or two, that shows up in measures of production.
  2. Much appreciated Vance. Time to root for the Denver defense.
  3. That begs the question then, why does this keep coming up when (and only when) we're talking about Aramis?
  4. Aside from a couple SEC teams, there's no team in the country that has really played anyone if you take away their 2 toughest games, especially with nearly half the season to go.
  5. I have Delgado getting the safety. Beltran is tough, but he'll stall in the red zone. Heilman's FG's lead the way.
  6. You started Galloway? Yikes. Vance, do you mind giving a quick score report for the remainder of us since you have stat tracker? By my count I should be up ~28 points with Uber having Moss, Jordan, and Gould left.
  7. Wow, great goal for Gomez.
  8. They're both the same. :D Well then I have no idea. And what in the wide world of sports is Tulsa doing at number 25? And ranked in the top 20 in over half the computer polls?
  9. Whichever one has my team ranked better.
  10. Come on United, you've really sucked it up down the stretch. EDIT: Oh for the love of...
  11. Thank you. By my count, I'm up by 32 with Parker currently playing, and Uber has Pitt DEF still playing with Moss + Jordan tonight and Gould tomorrow.
  12. Most likely. I don't believe he even issued an apology for that, either. In searching for exactly what he said, I found something that said he privately apologized to Green. What did he say about Shawn? (If it's inappropriate for the board, never mind.) From wikipedia... Lyons' maligned outfielder Shawn Green, who is Jewish, for sitting out a game on Yom Kippur in 2004. Lyons ripped Green, saying: "He’s not even a practicing Jew. He didn’t marry a Jewish girl. And from what I understand, he never had a bar mitzvah, which is unfortunate because he doesn’t get the money."
  13. Most likely. I don't believe he even issued an apology for that, either. In searching for exactly what he said, I found something that said he privately apologized to Green.
  14. I'm hoping for a big time smackdown of K-State this weekend, and all the pieces are there for it. Angry coming off a close loss, home game, homecoming at that, playing against a subpar KSU team that Mizzou hasn't beaten in 13 years.
  15. New polls are out. Mizzou sticks around in the AP at 24, but falls to 27 in the Coaches.
  16. wow, the Bucs didn't suck, who knew
  17. Scott Linehan is fun to watch.
  18. See, I don't understand this line of thinking. WHO CARES if a WC makes/wins the World Series? They were obviously a good team to begin with, and if the other teams were truly better, they'd prove it. Second place teams win championships in the NFL, NBA, and NHL. Why is it such a travesty when it happens in baseball? I think the problem is that it happens so often in baseball. A WC team in the NFL who had to go on the road for all 3 games has only ever won the SB once in the NFL (last year's Steelers). In basketball, a team ranked 5-8 has only won 1 title (I'm pretty sure about this stat-I know the #6 ranked Rockets in the mid 90's were the lowest seed to ever win the title). Baseball has had a few wildcards win the WS in just over 10 years. WC's are just as likely as the 1, 2, or 3 seed to win in MLB, while that hasn't been true in either the NFL or the NBA. Exactly. With baseball, a short series strongly favors the team with the best starter (should said starter be able to pitch either game 1 or 2). All you need is 2 dominating performances by your starter and one win in the other 3 games and you win. Football and basketball don't have one player that can completely change the outcome of a given game. In the current scenario, I have no doubt that the current Cubs with Zambrano and Rich Hill going would have a better chance then most would think of advancing to the NLCS. How does taking away a home game change any of that?
  19. Randy Cross just made an analogy to magnets, awesome.
  20. I'm going for my first ever win over Uber. We're going to find out pretty quick, since everyone on my team except Parker is in action now. On that note, Drew Bledsoe needs to be put out of his misery. Throw the ball to TO.
  21. Like Raw pointed out, Hudson's peripherals were as good if not better than they were in previous years. It seems to be a batted balls thing, which should return to previous norms, and not a case of declining stuff.
  22. The thing that really kills us is now we HAVE to beat Nebraska to have a shot at the North, because even after Nebraska loses to Texas, I really doubt they lose 2 more of @ OSU, @ aTM, and v. Colorado. And Peterson getting hurt plus this loss likely means no Gameday for OU. Crap.
  23. Why would Girardi sign on to be an understudy when he's already been a manager and would in all likelihood get a head job somewhere else? I can't imagine he would view the Cubs job that much higher that he would do something like that.
