  1. Sign me up for bringing Burrell over here.
  2. Yeah, it just says that he got a second opinion other than O'Neal. It's a good thing. Unless you know O'neal's medical abckground then you are pretty unqualified to make that statement. I know Mark, Mark did some work on me a while back. He is a ifne trainer. O'Neal has constantly misdiagnosed our pitchers the past couple years. And even if that is ignored, he went to see Andrews, who's widely regarded as the best around.
  3. I'd also like to know this. Do they count the people that tune in for only a part of the game? For example, I know I usually couldn't make it past the 3rd inning this year. Nielsen measures ratings by having people fill out diaries of what they watched, and also by installing meters in some houses that gather the info, with the person's permission of course. They take this sample and extrapolate it out to get their data. Many TV people really, really hate the Nielsen ratings.
  4. I wonder what constitutes a Piniella guy. Lugo? Eduardo Perez? Geoff Blum? Cameron? Cirillo? Rich Amaral

  6. Eyre was mediocre last year. Keeping him for insurance purposes when you can call up Novoa to strike out a bunch of guys and put up a 1.5 WHIP doesn't make sense. Eyre was out of shape this year. He still brings alot of value to the Cubs. Well if you're counting on him to rebound then, that's something else entirely. If he gets in shape and pitches real well then it doesn't really matter if Wood is healthy or not in deciding whether we should keep Eyre.

  8. Why would the Yankees trade a 23yr old 2b that hit .342? Cano wont be traded. I think he was saying that if A-Rod gets traded, Cano might move to 3B, giving the Yankees a need for a 2B(hence Theriot being mentioned).
  9. Well, he claims he never said that. Well, he was also completely shocked by speculation he'd be a manager during the ALCS. Really? It seemed pretty clear everybody in the booth knew he had a job waiting for him. Maybe I have it confused with the report that he was going to be the new Yankee manager, but my point was that he dismissed comments about him managing while he was broadcasting when it was well known he was in the hunt for a job. This could very likely be the same situation given his history with A-Rod and A-Rod's perception in NY.
  10. Do you really believe this to be true? I can see micromanaging because that's what they believe in but to justify their salaries....I really don't think so. Okay, replace "justify their salaries" to "feel like they're doing work/doing their job".
  11. What are you basing this on? Lee got a fantatsic deal. Ramirez is well paid. The offer to Furcal was market value (nobody expected the Dodgers to crazy with their offer). Isn't that the point? That Hendry offers fair deals but doesn't go above and beyond with the big contracts he offers(Beltran and Furcal for example)? Sometimes that's good, sometimes it's not so good.

  13. Word. I think he burned bridges on his way out though, hard to see him coming back.
  14. Teahen from KC. They need pitching that doesn't cost anything, and Teahen is expendable with Gordon's arrival.
  15. Go get Durham, Jim. He's just like Curtis Granderson, only more veterany and stuff.
  16. That would depend on the nature of the re-signing. If it happens, say, tomorrow, then we could trade him with impunity(excepting any NTCs of course). If he opts out and files for Free Agency, then I assume he's no different than a Soriano or a Zito at that point.
  17. 3 way deal with the Royals. ARod to the Cubs, young pitching to the Royals, Teahen + something from the Cubs(Jones/Eyre/more young pitching) to the Yankees
  18. What about Zambrano's antics? With respect to umpires, Z and Pujols are moving in opposite directions with their reactions to them.
  19. Anyone think the Bears should forfeit because James was stopped when he was stripped? No then? Okay. ps I'm not coming back to this thread ever again
  20. Boldin is a hoss. He's like Keyshawn when he was with the Jets.
  21. too bad you can't challenge roughing the passer penalties  Is that a reference to yesterday? I didn't see the game.
