  1. There's nothing quite like watching an offensive lineman catch and run with the ball.
  2. Especially since you put at least 20 points on two underdogs from the Big 12. The K-State one is the big one. I don't think OSU-Bama or aTm-Cal are on different levels. Maybe not, but that's different than putting 3 of your top 13 confidence rankings on OSU and aTm. You're looking pretty good with the OSU pick though. I just thought that was a terrible game (two .500 teams) and didn't feel good putting much faith in either team. Like I said earlier, I put a lot of higher confidence points on games I thought I'd be going against the grain with. Shoot for the moon, no one remembers the difference between 5th and 10th place in these leagues.
  3. Especially since you put at least 20 points on two underdogs from the Big 12. The K-State one is the big one. I don't think OSU-Bama or aTm-Cal are on different levels. The big thing about all 3 of those teams is they've improved as the season went on. KSU almost lost to Illinois State at home in the opening week, and a couple weeks ago they beat Texas. OSU got smacked by Baylor, then they spanked Nebraska and took OU to the wire. aTm ended strong by beating Texas, especially compared to Cal who lost 2 of their last 3(and the win was a close game against awful Stanford).
  4. Big day for me in the confidence pool tomorrow. I've got 25 on Oklahoma State, 21 on aTm, and 20 on Kansas State. I can't believe I picked all 3 Big 12 schools, I look like an uber-homer. In fact, it looks like I picked every B12 team except Nebraska, jeez.
  5. Just looks unlucky to me. 1.08 WHIP, 3 K/BB and nearly a K per inning
  6. Murton obviously should be hitting in the top 2, but who else would we rather have at the top of the order? Theriot? He's hardly a sure thing and isn't going to start anyway. Jones? Izturis? Pie? DeRosa? None of those guys are going to vary significantly in OBP from Soriano, and if anything Soriano has a chance to be much better than them. Plus, Soriano is a significantly better hitter in the leadoff spot, I think that's where he should go.
  7. It's crystal clear to me that Soriano was pitched around in 2006. Aside from Fons the Nats lineup sucked big time. Soriano 2006 splits: Runners on: 212 AB, 42 BB, .274/.396/.566 Bases Empty: 435 AB, 25 BB, .278./.326/.556 Fons' walk rate was enormously higher with runners on. Coincidence? I think not. That's hardly exclusive to Soriano. Murton had a near .060 difference last year, Pujols had a .063 difference last year , those guys are regarded as patient hitters.
  8. I don't care who took steroids three years ago.
  9. Do they hate Betancourt? That's 3 RH relievers they've added.
  10. They were also quite a bit better defensively in '05.
  11. CMU is driving up a score already, I think they're gonna roll(I hope so too, I have 26 confidence points on them). As I type it CMU gets in. 14-0 less than 10 minutes into the game.
  12. Mizzou is probably gonna suck, the draft ravaged their pitching staff.
  13. I like 3 keepers again. I think it's the best balance between rewarding people who draft well and not punishing people for having bad years. There's about 5 guys I'd like to keep though, unlike last year when there were two.
  14. I'm not into playing for money either. On the suggestions idea, I think we should allow partial points next year. There's enough ground between 20 yard increments that it would be worthwhile, IMO.
  15. Hooray for Jones-Drew and Young, who I took with my last pick and picked up as a FA two weeks ago. Champs!
  16. In production, really? Reyes and Wainwright definitely have talent, but Reyes wasn't as good as Hill last year, and Wainwright hasn't started in a year(and when he did he wasn't all that great at AAA).
  17. Both are great, but I laugh more and harder at the Colbert Report.
  18. I admit, I laughed at this: http://www.becking.com/basketball/2006-07/12-19%20vs%20Illinois/images/smb_5474.jpg
  19. How is splitting your age 21 season between Low and High A a year or two older than you want?
  20. I've said it a couple times, but I don't understand why we're gambling on Floyd, who is 34 and has had past injury problems, returning to form and being better than Murton against RHP instead of Murton, who is pre-prime, cheap, injury free, and absolutely mashed RHP in the second half.
  21. Which is all I hear from Illinois football fans, some hope that they could once again become a legitimate team. Nobody's saying look out Ohio St. and Michigan, people are saying, hey if things work out we can beat a 4-4 Big 12 team. Well yeah, but obviously da bears is pissed off about the loss, and probably has to deal with a lot of crap living in Illinois, that's why he's crazy today. I certainly don't think it's inconceivable for Illinois to beat Mizzou in football.
  22. Didn't we go over that when it happened? HOPE, not expect, or even think a very high probability of happening.
  23. Don't count on either. Pruitt, Randle, Frazier, etc. Basically all but Carter and McBride are back. Illinois Football is on the way up too. To counter, Mizzou graduates no one(well, Watkins, but he was part of the mascot team that came on in blowouts before tonight) and adds DeMarre Carroll, who put up 10 and 6 in the SEC as a soph last year for Vandy.
  24. Stop copying me.
  25. Honestly, I had no expectations of winning the game beforehand, and even in the early going I genuinely felt that I would be happy if the game was close. But that just crushed me, especially seeing Hannah's reaction right after he lost the ball.
