  1. That's just not true. They played well offensively in the 3 previous games. They played 3 quarters of good-to-great defense in the TB and Detroit games. The only real bad game the Bears played on defense was probably the Rams game. Last night, they gave up yards, but only really gave up the opening drive TD. You want reasons the Bears will win their first playoff game? Vs. Giants- Bears are a better team, worse QB situation than the Bears, tons of injuries, mediocre defense vs. Seattle- Bears are a better team, injuries on defense, offense hasn't played together much, and hasn't run the ball that well this year, one of the worst run defenses, pass defense will be missing 3 starting DBs vs. Dallas- Bears are a better team, can't run the ball in recent weeks, Romo can't perform under pressure, defense has given up 39, 23, 28, and 42 in their last 4 games. But for every reason listed, you can make a counter argument of why the Bears could lose the game. That's the point. No one is saying the Bears are certain to win, but some are saying it's a near certainty that they will lose.
  2. and? Thereare many players now who juice or have juiced. Seems like that would make the game pretty different as well. That's nowhere near the impact of having the mound ten feet closer. Ten feet is an enormous difference, it just kills reaction time.
  3. Pat Summerall sounds like he had a stroke since he's been away.
  4. That's not true at all. There's debate on how ready he is for this year, but after a second year at AAA there's an extremely high likelihood of him being ready to contribute for the big club. I admit the bolt of lightning miracle line is a bit of hyperbole on my part, but essentially it looks like we agree. You're saying he needs 1 more year at AAA and I'm saying not ready before 2008....they're the same thing..no? I saw him play over a 1/2 dozen games in person in 2006 and it was toward the first part of the season, but he wasn't really close to ready. He played better in the 2nd half, but i think is right at about a .200 BA in winter ball. Not a good sign for a young latin player hitting against less than MLB quality pitching. I don't put much stock in his winter ball numbers. He's been playing with Licey for several years and hasn't done particularly well there, yet he continues to progress well through the farm system. Pie has shown an ability to adjust when he doesn't perform well, and that's what last year was. He dominated AAA in the second half to the tune of an over .900 OPS, he clearly was a different player than the first half. I'd be fine with giving the Pie the CF job this year. It wouldn't be best for the offense considering the other 7 spots, but that's going to be the case just about any year so I'd rather Pie go through any growing pains sooner rather than later.

  6. There's no way an NL team wins the World Series this year....
  7. That's what I thought. It went past the LOS. yeah but it sure didn't look like he ever left the tackle box. I always thought it was an either/or. I've always thought it was both. Nick Barnett looks like Mega Man.
  8. I have a similar dilemma in my keeper league, 3 keepers. QB- McNabb RB- Parker, Jones-Drew, Addai WR- TO, Houshmandzadeh
  9. It'd be really great if Fox would switch me to the Denver-SF game instead of the Philly-Atlanta game which has exactly zero meaning. I'm not exactly local to any of these teams either, please give me reason to watch.
  10. Is the tiebreaker process for draft placement the same as it is for playoff position? I'm wondering if Tampa has the 3rd or 4th pick.
  11. Vince Young has 2 minutes to get 10 points with no timeouts starting at his own 36. Godspeed. EDIT: nevermind, gamechannel didn't update for the penalty, game over EDIT2: Now it's 17 points in 1:45
  12. So it's Denver, Tennessee, and KC still alive for the last spot, in that order. If Denver wins they're in, Tennessee needs to come back and a Denver loss, and KC needs them both to lose.
  13. Who were you starting over Roy Williams?
  14. Is Northwestern State one of those on line schools? They're the team that beat Iowa in the tourney last year with the miracle 3.
  15. Seriously Gus Johnson, please shut up about Quinn Gray already. He's led a couple TD drives, super. His team's still down 2 scores.
  16. If I were a Chiefs fan I'd be ready to rip out Gus Johnson's vocal chords. Jacksonville brings in their 3rd string QB and leads them to a TD and he is slobbering over him every step of the way.
  17. Holy crap what a punt block by that chiefs player. He blocked it with the back of his hand then ran it down 20 yards back at the goal line for the TD. Wow.
  18. I had upper 20s on them too. At least it seems a lot of people put at least 20 on VT. My entry is pretty shot to pieces though. I have almost the fewest possible points left.
  19. No, the Bulls would draw the Raptors, who are currently the 4 seed. The Bulls and Cavs are essentially tied at the moment, too. Both 2 games back of the Pistons. I knew I should've trusted ESPN's page completely.
  20. Actually, the Bulls are the 5 seed right now, despite having the 3rd best winning percentage. If the playoffs started today they'd be playing the Cavaliers, and the Cavs would have HCA. It's such a stupid rule that the division winners get the top 3 seeds.
  21. I hadn't seen it either but that's a pretty deliberate slam to the ground while Deng was up in the air completely exposed. I have no problem with a hard foul going for the ball, but he didn't even attempt to get the ball. went for the neck, then grabbed the shoulder and threw him down. short of a football tackle, I'm not sure how it gets much worse. I'm not trying to say it was clean, it was dirty and I understand the feelings considering Posey's past and who got fouled. That said, I don't see any throw down on Posey's part. are you looking at the same video as I am? Deng is coming straight down after the initial foul then his legs suddenly come out from under him. look at the video at about 1:08. whys does Posey's left leg kick out, other than to gain leverage to slam Deng down? why does he follow through with the right arm to the point where it almost hits the hardwood? it's a blatant slam to the ground. Yes, I'm watching the same video. Posey nearly clotheslines him, but I don't see the malicious follow through. You're convinced otherwise. I won't try to sway you though, it's a trivial detail since we both agree it was an unnecessary and dirty foul.
  22. He'd be worth an NRI. He's a bit redundant with DeRosa, Theriot, and to a lesser extent Cedeno, Fontenot, and Moore. In fact, my personal preference would be to give Fontenot a legitimate chance to win a bench job.

  24. Rutgers picks up two touchdowns in the first 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter. 30-10 now. And a horrible fumble call in aTm's favor. Lynch clearly crossed the plane before he fumbled, at least it's getting reviewed.
  25. Reading the responses before I saw the video, I thought it would be worse than it actually was.
