  1. It was a tough balance between giving points to games that I felt confidently about v. games that I felt my pick would be different than most people.
  2. Hooray! Myself and Roast in the final, appropriate, since we were 1-2 in points by a significant margin.
  3. How are you allowed to challenge a play that was ruled incomplete?
  4. I think it would be a good win and a bit of validation for their hot start for Mizzou, but embarrassing for U of I? It's a rivalry game, and Mizzou has only one loss and already dusted a decent-at-least Arkansas team. And like I said earlier in this thread, Snyder always was a decent recruiter, Mizzou's roster consists of several recruits who were well regarded nationally. Is it to the level of Illinois, who has been at the top of the B10 for a while? No, but it's a rivalry game on a neutral floor, and as such I don't think it's a disgrace to lose the game.
  5. This is crazy. Sosa put up an OPS+ over 120(123 if you want to be precise) in 9 of his 13 seasons as a Cub. To claim he was mediocre for 7 seasons is fiction. EDIT: To compare... Ernie Banks had a 120+ OPS+ in 7 of his 17 seasons as a Cub. Ron Santo had a 120+ OPS+ in 9 of his 14 seasons as a Cub.
  6. Negative points are possible because there are deductions for things like giving up points. I got negative points from Grossman in one of my leagues a few weeks ago. Yes, everyone knows negative points are possible, but the odds of the Cincy defense giving up the 40 or so points necessary to get negative points without getting any sacks, fumble recoveries, or picks are quite small.
  7. This post captures every single reason why i hate the Big Least and their fans. MSU won it in 2000, which is this century. From 2000-2006, the Big 10 put 6 entries into the Final Four. The only conference that had more was the ACC at 7. The Big Least had a total of 2 (Marq/Louis dont count b/c they were in the CUSA at the time). And just because somehow someway those teams did win championships, they think they are the best conference in all of collegiate basketball- not minding the fact they didnt win a single championship from 1985 to 1999. The Big Least has no balance and no depth. They are more of a mercurial phenomenon than a power conference and i wish their fans would start to understand this. Just by calling it the "Big Least" proves you have an inferiority complex. Maybe someday you can play with the big boys again, someday. It is so hard to compare conferences now that you guys have become the AFC. Seriously 18 teams? The Big Ten has been is a ton of final fours, so it isn't like we aren't in the running. Kind of like how the Big 10 has 3 more teams in football? What's the anomoly, having 8 teams in a football conference, 16 in a basketball conference, or BOTH?
  8. Meh. 6 of their 9 losses are in back-to-backs, and they only have 5 more(from my quick count) over the remaining 59 games. I think last year showed how different a team they are when Hughes is healthy as well, this year too actually(9-3 with Hughes, 5-6 without him).
  9. It's pretty much market value. The 12.5M he'll get in his would-have-been FA years is pretty fair, and the buyout of his arbitration years is no more or less than he would've got.
  10. Actually, the theory is lineup protection, when the facts have indicated that it really makes no difference. Where are these facts? The best way to protect a hitter is to have a runner on in front of him. Isn't that a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy though? A guy gets a hit and then the guy after them gets a hit(to simplify it into a hypothetical), is it the runner on base/the stretch or just the fact that the pitcher isn't good?
  11. Augustine hasn't played a minute in the NBA while May is averaging 12 and 6. He's clearly the better player, and it's no surprise that in a one-on-one situation May would give Augustine trouble. Whether Augustine is any good or not I won't go comment on, because I don't really feel like arguing with illiniguy and the rest of the U of I fans, especially on the eve of Mizzou-Illinois.
  12. Yes, Gates gets shut out! I'll be up 8 with TJH v. Graham tomorrow, I'll take it.
  13. Things are getting dicey. By my count it comes down to Houshmandzadeh + 8 points for me against Gates + Graham for Vance.
  14. They're similar prospects, with Rios being older and further along, and therefore closer to fulfilling that potential. Problem is that there would need to be another significant player(at least) in addition to Pie to get Rios, which is why he won't be worth his cost.
  15. On the game break, I looked up after the Davis play was over, but they were saying that "it wasn't reviewed by the booth", which implied that there was at least some doubt that it was a catch.
  16. Best case scenario. Bucs play kinda well, don't humiliate themselves, and continue to keep themselves high in the draft. Yay.
  17. They just sent us to the start of the Rams game. My dad, a Bears fan, is less than amused.
  18. One lousy point from Young. Thank goodness Jones-Drew, Coles, and Parker all had outstanding days. By my count I'm up 59-47, I have Houshmandzadeh and Wilkins left against Barber, Gates, Fitzgerald, and Graham. Let's go Denver, KC, and Philly defenses.
  19. Jacksonville has a minute to go 90 yards with no timeouts.
  20. way to get my hopes up Bucs, now you're just going to let Hester get a million yard return and put it away.
  21. Already giving up on Caddy? Enjoy Calvin Johnson. I was never a huge fan because of his platoon situation at Auburn. Johnson would be nice if there was someone to throw him the ball.
  22. I can't wait to see Adrian Peterson in Garnet and Gold. The only thing I have left to hope for is that Hester lines up on Barber's side of the field again and he finishes the job with a pick.
