I'm leaving for Columbia in about an hour. Hopefully there's a strong crowd with conference play starting and on the weekend. There were 10k for Southern last weekend with no student presence, I'm hoping for better than that.

woohoo, free preview of ESPN Full Court for those with proper cable/satellite systems. Georgetown is laying the lumber to Notre Dame in DC, it's 23-9 with 6 mins left in the half. Georgia is hanging with Florida in Gainesville midway through the first half. Purdue with a slim lead on Penn St. in West Lafayette midway through the first half. EDIT: 29-9 now after an oop, Notre Dame is shooting 16% from the floor

Obviously, because a lot will happen between now and then. Lunardi is pretty good at picking the tourney, so it's fun and useful to see where different teams are at different points in the season. For example, I can see that Mizzou is a bubble team right now.

I've been thinking about this for a while, so I'll put it here since there's several days before the NCG. Who has a shot to make the Championship next year? I'd say that two things are almost a given. One, it's going to be someone from a major conference(I know, I'm a madman), and the other is that it will be someone who has a QB that isn't in his first year. With the exception of Leinart in the midst of the USC dynasty, I can't come up with any QB in the title game who was in their first year as a starter. So with that criteria in mind, who's left that could make it? ACC- Wake Forest, Florida State, NC State, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Miami, Duke Big 12- Mizzou, Kansas State, Kansas, Iowa State, Colorado, Texas, aTm, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State Big East- Louisville*, Rutgers, West Virginia, South Florida, Cincy, UConn Big 10- Michigan, Penn State, Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois Pac 10- USC, Cal, UCLA, Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State SEC- Tennessee*, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vandy, Auburn, LSU*, Alabama, Mississippi State * indicates a Junior QB who has a chance to enter the draft So there's 43 teams. It's not difficult to trim 10-15 teams off that list to get a core of about 30 either.

Michigan State is going to lose at Iowa. Welmer and Hightower both reffing this game, I've had friendlier nightmares(not that I think MSU is getting shafted, those refs are just awful).

Truth. Still were the only option, though, unless we think that a WV team that gave up 35 points to Georgia Tech deserved it over them. They also scored 38, and they beat Rutgers during the season.
