  1. To play devil's avocado(since I don't feel particular conviction about him), Keegan has been fine or even good since a poor opening outing: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 6/2 K/BB. His velo is down and that is not a good harbinger, but if he's effective at 90-91 instead of 93-94 then as a short term fill in I don't see a huge issue this soon after everyone got a very good look in ST at all the options. Plus we might see something tick up in an MLB environment, different weather, etc. Not gonna bat an eye if he's here to pitch in one blowout and then get DFA'd for someone else though.
  2. There's a lot of teams potentially looking for WR in that range though, so you risk a higher than expected cost or not getting your guy. As one example, the Tankathon mock has 4 WR going between 28-34, and the true first rounders in that range(Buffalo and KC) are pretty likely to take one.
  3. how in the world did they let that get made with a huge BYU Basketball banner behind him
  4. T-Mobile also offers either a free 6 months or comped Apple TV+ depending on your plan level: https://www.t-mobile.com/benefits/customer-hub
  5. Doesn't sound like it's that stark, more of a 'let the catchers shake off Kyle if they see something in particular'
  6. Wesneski's also very well rested, having not pitched since the 6th.
  7. (McWilliams has given up 4 HR in 11 IP)
  8. That guy is making a joke that he would be put on the IL given his performance, not sharing a thing that happened. It's timestamped to the middle of the game yesterday.
  9. Funny enough, I had already started pondering the prospect cost to get the Astros to give up Pressly + cash at the deadline if they're out of it.
  10. They haven't had to compromise between domestic and continental so far, and an invincible season is pretty special, so I think they'd probably go for it. Assuming they clinch this weekend, they'd have Dortmund on the road after the 2nd leg. But there wouldn't be another Europa league game for 2 weeks so you could push it that week and then rest more leading up to the next league game(Stuttgart at home). The trickiest would be the league game in between the Europa semis, at Bochum. The Pokal and Europa finals are both after the Bundesliga season ends so they wouldn't be in conflict unless you wanted to give more than normal rest for them.
  11. If the rumored way Boras approached this has any basis in reality, I kinda wonder if Montgomery would pursue some recourse against him. It's one thing to overplay your hand with the contract asks, it's another(and probably an ethical/contractual breach?) to steer teams to Snell first when they're expressing an interest in Montgomery.
  12. Two more walks for Shaw tonight. The Ks are elevated too, but I’ll take that as a side effect of more patience and better swing decisions.
  13. Right, I’m not saying Hendricks deserves 0 ER, though you could argue the only 3 well struck balls being in consecutive PA is at least a little unfortunate. It’s that the perception that Hendricks is pitching badly(his 9.00 ERA today) is a function of misfortune rather than him actually getting battered around for 4 innings.
  14. Hendricks has given up 2 hard hit balls in 4 innings, his runs allowed for today falls squarely in the unlucky bin.
  15. But there's no way they'll stay in a 10k capacity stadium, which surely means they don't have a huge head start on any other city that promises them a ballpark, right?
  16. Mule hasn't gotten to affiliated ball either. Basically this is the consequence of having consecutive first round picks fly through the system. If they had drafted Bryce Eldridge we'd get to follow along with Myrtle Beach breathlessly for his PA, but instead they drafted Shaw who forced his way to Tennessee in about 6 weeks.
  17. that’s three good outings in a row for Almonte, 6/0 K/BB in 3 IP
  18. another obvious swing from Machado, what are we doing here
  19. uhhhhh that was an obvious swing by Bogaerts?
  20. Obviously blowing an 8 run lead isn't going to ease any pre-existing concerns about the bullpen, but before yesterday the Cubs had a middle of the pack bullpen ERA despite being top 5 in bullpen innings. Are they 1.5 arms short right now? Probably, and those guys are either on the roster(Merryweather, Assad) or will be a very real option sooner than if this wasn't the 2nd week of April(Brown, Horton). It's a reasonable opinion to want them to have invested more in the pen, but let's also not oversell the difference in certainty. There's a number of "real" arms from the market struggling so far too(Hader, Johnson, Alvarado from a quick search of those who are pitching and healthy).
  21. In that vein I suspect if there is an issue, it's that he needs to miss the plate more, which given his control is a gameplanning tweak more than an issue with hitters figuring him out or anything long-term worrisome. His O-Swing isn't particularly elite for a reliever, doubly so when you consider he has a fairly high Zone% for a reliever, so there's probably room to take a few more risks, like 1-0 to a very dangerous hitter.
  22. Yeah my order of takeaways would basically be: Even the best teams lose 2+ months worth of games, and among them are going to be many painful, frustrating losses. When you use 4 relievers(including 2 late inning stalwarts and your stuff-monster LHRP) and they all give up runs, sometimes it's just not your day. This is the price you pay for rotation injuries. I mentioned earlier in the thread but the last turn through the rotation got 21.2 IP from the starters, 49% of innings. If you're counting on the bullpen to throw more than half of your innings, then you're giving more innings to the worst of your pen and tempting fate. This is compounded by both Merryweather's injury and the fact that Cuas and Almonte would be less relied upon if Assad and possibly Brown were bullpen options. Cuas probably needs some time in Iowa to find his command/release point. I'd expect that to happen whichever happens sooner between Edwards getting ramped or Taillon being ready to rejoin the rotation, possibly sooner if they want to throw Keegan out there(hey after a bad first outing the last 2 have been solid) There's nothing else peripherally standing out, but 2 HR in 5 outings for Adbert has me side-eyeing his progress over the coming weeks, especially with Merryweather out.
