  1. Yeah, including tonight the last turn through the rotation has gotten a combined 21.2 IP, that is, uh, going to lead to some runs given up from the bullpen when you make relievers throw more than half the innings.
  2. lol this offense is facing a superstuff buzzsaw and spitting in their faces
  3. Christopher Morel go one (1) game without missing the 1B challenge
  4. Finally, we get to see how good a Calipari team can be if he could win some recruiting battles.
  5. I think that's mostly based on the pitching matchups, which are about as tilted to the extreme as is possible considering it's the Padres best 3 starters against the Cubs w/o Steele or Shota:
  6. A little surprised they didn't bring in Cooper for either of these ABs against LHP given the long stretch without facing one.
  7. They could, but the only fresh arm that doesn't require a 40 man move is Keegan, so don't think they'll be doing that.
  8. Almonte threw 20 pitches yesterday, my guess is he gets to go until he gets 1 inning or maybe until the LHH at the top come around, then they'll try to get 3 innings combined from Smyly/Palencia with Neris to close it out?
  9. I guess I've never seen Ryan Yarbrough pitch because I would've confidently said he was a RHP
  10. I can't recall the specific games but to my memory this type of thing happens around once a season given the number of day games the Cubs play.
  11. 1) the rain doesn't have to completely stop for the day for the game to resume 2) there's no reason to think they wouldn't wait that long. The Dodgers have a night game in Minnesota tomorrow and the Cubs have a night game in San Diego, if this was Sunday Night baseball we wouldn't think anything of their travel schedule
  12. I'm concerned about the integrity of moundball, that should not be a winner smh
  13. Right before he flew out to CF, no foul balls or other swings besides the fly out. So if it's an injury it's on that swing or run to 1B, wouldn't normally guess that.
  14. He's not eligible to be president I think you stopped at the right spot
  15. It would be darkly funny if his delayed signing led to him struggling for 3-4 weeks and depressing his EOY numbers enough that teams were afraid of him again in FA
  16. 2 walks for Shaw, if he starts taking those in between hitting laser beams for XBH then look out
  17. He didn't get it wrong, a reliever giving up runs doesn't mean the decision was a bad one. As Bertz said, you pay Counsell for good process, not to be a fortune teller. Pulling Wicks was good process.
  18. good stuff Dansby, that's not routine considering you don't really practice that footwork
  19. Cuas hadn't walked a hitter in 6 outings/6 IP going back to last September.
  20. Betts was the 2nd hitter of the inning and Wicks threw 16 pitches between Betts stepping to the plate and Wicks being pulled. Freeman is a left on left matchup who was 0 for 2, and Wicks took 9 pitches to get him. There exists a tipping point in game situation, pitch count, and opposing hitter where Wicks is no longer the best option, that tipping point was Hernandez.
  21. He was at a career high pitch count early in the season in cool weather, on top of Hernandez being a very bad matchup. Cuas going BB, WP, 1B off the wall doesn't change the probabilities of the decision Counsell had to make.
