  1. http://wgnradio.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=120&Itemid=236 Back to this again. Wouldn't mind either, but would prefer Blanton. Blanton would look nice in the rotation. I guess we'd be giving up Pie for Blanton... Who the heck plays CF then? Looks like Figgins. Failing him, I would make it a platoon, getting a FA like Brady Clark to platoon with Fuld.
  2. I haven't really watched Bedard, but I think Hill's deceptive, repeatable delivery really helps him get K's. He's able to hide the ball long enough and have it come from the same slot that his fastball sneaks up on hitters who know the curve has great break.
  3. Yes, I also watched the regular season. "Leadoff hitter" is not a position, Soriano is fine there(others would be better, but it's not a "problem" that needs fixing). Dempster was fine as a closer last year and we have no less than 3 guys easily capable of replacing him in house if he gets hurt/implodes. And lastly, I don't care how many times the Cubs strike out if the production is there, and even then, they were 11th of 16 NL teams in K's. It's a matter of perception not being reality.
  4. I like the Crawford comparison. Not as good on the basepaths, but a much better defender.
  5. None of those things are actually problems, or true for that matter.
  6. Best athlete & best defensive player in the organization. Gap power & quick bat. .362/.410/.563/.973 in AAA at age 22. Improving walk rate and declining K rate as he ascends the upper levels.
  7. Floyd put up a .281/.370/.422 line v. RHP last year, it's not like he wasn't useful.
  8. Actually this would be a gain of 3 as Gallagher, Pie and Cedeno are on the 40 man Net gain of 1, they lose Bedard and Roberts.
  9. Looking at FA CF possibilities, there's Lofton, you could get a RH platoon partner for Pagan/Fuld in somebody like Brady Clark or Nook Logan or Luis Terrero or Alex Escobar. Wilkerson's a FA too.
  10. I'm pretty sure that you can file all 3 of them under "abused". And Hendry's lack of contingencies for probable injuries is one of his greatest shortcomings(see the 2006 rotation). Fortunately, he seems to have learned a little from it.
  11. A thousand thank yous for bringing the Cleveland weather to my attention.
  12. My excel calculations have given me good news. Thanks to Romo's sub-zero day and Detroit's defense going for -4, I think I'm up by about 17. I have Longwell tomorrow night and Wolf has AD. So go Bears defense and Chester Taylor.
  13. argh, I knew I should've started Graham over MoJo Drew. Thankfully Romo's been an INT-fest so far, now I need some points from Addai and Wayne.
  14. Nebraska knocked off #16 Oregon in OT. haha Oregon Nebraska's students stormed the court in celebration. haha Nebraska
  15. We probably look back on the season and say we have 2 or 3.
  16. Yeah, with the news that Fukudome is very likely to play RF, Teahen is positionless on our team. I simultaneously love the idea of buying low on Greinke and fear him going Ankiel on us if we were to acquire him.
  17. Taguchi has nothing left. Pagan is a better option.
  18. Pagan is still around, and while he's not as good as Mench offensively, his presence means Fukudome doesn't HAVE to move to CF if Pie isn't playing.
  19. I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about someone getting bigger during a season. It's always the work they put in during the offseason.
  20. Of course there's a mental aspect to baseball. This road has been traveled before. You can't try to extract the "other side" or whatever from statistics. The mental aspect is reflected in statistics because they are simply what happened. If they didn't then the "intangible" isn't worth paying attention to.
