  1. shut your mouth Troy, that slider was good enough earlier and it was called a ball
  2. What stat is that? The Cubs have scored 18 times in the 9th inning, and been scored upon 28 times. Well maybe that's because opponents have had about 20 more 9th innings to work with. He did mention that the Cubs are 43-1 when leading after 8 innings though, and the Cards are about 0-30 when trailing after 8.
  3. haha, Hrabosky pulling out the most worthless statistic in the world to give the Cards hope edit: okay, he mentioned something better with the follow up
  4. For some reason, everytime I think about the Brewers getting Sabathia, I get the feeling that once they do that, Sheets will go down with an injury, neutralizing any gains from the deal.
  5. I'd say in terms of upside, it'd go Carpenter, Bristow, Shafer. In terms of reaching their potential, I'd say Shafer, Carpenter, Bristow. JMO though. I don't know about Shafer reaching his potential. His junior season leads to some question marks, given the decline in his stuff. Yeah, it's a hard comparison to make. I think Shafer being first is a function of Carpenter and Bristow having even further to go to reach their even higher ceilings more than Shafer being a polished pitcher.

  7. Early June. FWIW, Butler is back with the Royals, he's 6 for 14 with a double and HR since being recalled.

  9. You're becoming a caricature when you do stuff like this. Saying that Vitters is not a wasted pick does not mean that they are defending Wilken at all costs. We get it though, you're still really pissed that they took Colvin over Snider.
  10. I can't wait until next year when we have the most dominating pen in the league between Gallagher, Marmol, and Wood. We'll be paying through the nose for starting pitching(in cash, players, or both) even though we have a pair of 2/3 starters in the bullpen.
  11. Alexi Rameriz is quite impressive. He's going to be a great player. The .309 OBP with a .021 IsoP isn't too impressive to me. He turns 27 in September too.
  12. Lillibridge has a .546 OPS in AAA, there's no way he's headlining a deal for Burnett. Escobar is all singles too, no walks or XBH. Errors are a crappy evaluator, but again, 16 errors in 82 games this year, 99 in 405 games career. Cedeno has more success at a higher level at a similar age with better peripherals.
  13. He is hitting .296 .393 .630 good for a 1.023 OBP. I think he is still doing ok. Bruce is hitting .292/.361/.477/.837. He hit .223/.274/.340/.614 in June. why is minor league baseball.com so wrong??? still .837 ops is pretty great for a 20 year old centerfielder. That's right for his AAA numbers, I posted his MLB performance.
  14. Taylor Green? The third baseman with a sub-.150 IsoP? The same one with 36 errors in 170 games at 3B? That's the guy they're after?
  15. The Wii cover was an online vote for the best mascot. Not surprising that a school of MSU's size won.

  17. Rain delay, and there's supposed to be rain throughout the area tonight.
  18. No, Volquez had thrown 80 innings over 3 seasons prior to this year.
  19. Whoever does the graphics for CSN San Fran needs to be fired. There's red accents everywhere you need to look at something. When the bases are empty you can't tell if it's telling you if there's 1st and 3rd, and you can't read the radar gun readings without doing a double take.
  20. Yeah, when I drove through Oklahoma the only thing I saw were Valero stations and Noel Devine running all over the place.
  21. Yeah, I'm not sure how that keeps happening either. The only thing I can figure is that he has a very good eye and lets a lot of pitches go that are inside off the edge, so that leaves a smaller margin for error between pitching inside and leaving the ball right over the plate. If he keeps lofting opposite field home runs they're going to have to do something different.
  22. It's not really a day after a night game in the true sense, since it's a 4 PM local start. I bet we see Soto, since he's DHed a bit recently to stay fresh, we're facing a good pitcher that necessitates his bat in the lineup, and he's been red hot lately.
  23. Okay, so one person came up with a package for Lincecum that had Marquis in it, and even then it had multiple qualifiers and also thought to swap Hill in for Marshall. That's far from the "Marquis + minor leaguers = Lincecum" line you were purporting that was apparently mentioned on several occasions.
  24. I've been pushing Fontenot since 2005, I ain't stopping now.
