Yeah, I think this is a good deal for both teams. I'm sad to see Gallagher go, but there's a numbers game at play with Zambrano, Lilly, Dempster, Marquis, Marshall, and Hill. Swapping him for a shot that someone like Harden is healthy is a good gamble.
I'm surprised at how much love The Incredibles is getting. I haven't seen Cars or Ratatouille, but it's the only one I can definitely say would NOT be at the top of my list. I really don't know where to start though, they're all pretty great. I agree about A Bug's Life being underrated too, I watched it a couple months back and was amazed at the voice talent that was in that movie.
You wouldn't be able to keep both Edmonds and Johnson. You'd have to either trade or release one of them. Why? Soriano, Fukudome, and Bradley would all need some time off,and Johnson could play the corners while Edmonds backs up in center. You only have 5 bench spots. 1 of those go to the backup catcher. 2 more go to middle infielders. So that only leaves 2 spots left for any corner infielders/outfielders. Ward takes one of those spots, so the other spot can only go to 1 of Edmonds/Johnson. With Edmonds being a bench player, you could dump Fontenot instead of Johnson if that's what you wanted.
interesting. i wonder why this isnt done more often? they usually have a side session between starts anyway. Those sessions are typically before the game.
This is the problem, you seem to interpret any type of happiness at the success of a prospect as some sort of wholesale endorsement of that player as a future superstar and proof that our scouting department is the best of the best, or you take one person jumping to that conclusion and apply it to everyone here.
Jericho Jones is 12 for his last 20 with 2 walks, 2 doubles, 2 triples, and a home run, a mere 1.686 OPS. Really like what Cerda's done thus far as well. Hopefully he starts seeing more game action at catcher.
Colvin hit .306 at Daytona and .291 at Tennessee last year, and his AVG this year is 30 points lower than he's hit at any professional level. Yeah, don't count me as somebody who cares much about batting average. We're talking about BABIP, it's the whole point.
Do you think his injury history, lessens his value to Beane? I don't see why it wouldn't. This year is the first year he's had value to the organization(as a player or as an asset) since 2004.
I think Pie, Ceda, and someone from the Veal/Atkins/Hart family of arms is a fair deal. Harden's an elite talent, but he also threw fewer innings than Mark Prior from 2005-2007. That can't be understated.
Reading an Athletics Nation post about the rumors makes me glad that the Cubs don't trade away good players very often, because boy do fans overvalue their own players. The prevailing wisdom was something along the lines of "Pie, Vitters, and Hill to start with".
Huh? Yeah, Im confused as to how paying a guy who clearly doesnt want to be there 10 mil for each of the next 2 years is going to help him keep his job. With the emerging Rays, they better get used to fighting Baltimore for 4th place for at least the next 5 years. Think of it this way: With Burnett they might win 70 some odd games and Riccardi keeps his job. Without Burnett they might win 65 games and Riccardi has the free time to pursue his lifelong dream: travelling America's ballparks and heckling Adam Dunn at each of them.
