  1. Ditka's Army is Tobias/Rickrolled and 4th and Goal is ChiCubsFan
  2. Flaherty hasn't played in 5 days, I really wish we could find out what's going on with him. Matt Craig is 1 for 3 with his 2nd AAA home run. This barely improves his current 1.517 OPS with the I-Cubs.
  3. Someone explain to me why Ward is pinch hitting and not Edmonds.
  4. wait, they aren't going to use the other out of the bullpen? hahahahaha On one hand, Yost's creativity is something that baseball decision makers could use more of. On the other hand, that creativity should be used to do smart, efficient things, not change your 5 starter depending on the ballpark.
  5. This thread raises a legitimate point, please don't clutter it with tangentially pointless posts. Personally, I don't think the technology is in place to be able to replace umpires yet. Even stuff like pitch f/x misses pitches with some frequency, and without any human presence the slightest malfunction could be disastrous. Plus there's plenty of judgment calls to be made still, like check swings, balks, and safe/out(again, technology isn't there yet, or technically it is but would slow the game to an insane degree), interference, etc. I'm all for raising the amount of correct calls though, I have no attachment to the "human element" as you call it. It's just not very feasible yet.
  6. Sheets got tagged in the 4th. 4-1 Giants.
  7. I wonder how long they're going to let Jericho Jones annihilate AZL pitching.
  8. Howry has been fine this year. His walks and strikeouts are down a little bit, and with more batted balls some bad luck has hurt him more than it might've in the past. I mean, he's got a 35/6 K/BB, he's far, far, far from deserving to be DFA'd.
  9. I didn't see this game, but after I got out of the theater and found out we lost on a run in the bottom of the 9th, my first thought was "I bet Lou was using an inferior reliever", and sure enough Howry was in the game. When you're tied on the road in the 9th, every inning becomes a save situation, you need to start with your best remaining reliever and work backwords, not hold on to your closer hoping you get a save situation.
  10. It's easier to improve when you're changing the past.
  11. He's gotten better as the season's progressed as well. .388/.448/.673/1.122 with a 7/7 K/BB this month and .459/.535/.784/1.319 the last 10 games. Wonder how he profiles defensively?
  12. Blah Blah Blah. Please learn to write in paragraphs and complete sentences. It might make me want to read what your post. By the way simple math tells me that '82 is actually 24 years EARLIER than '06 not 74 years later. There's no need for that type of condescension. Also, he's comparing to the Cubs. 82 - 08 = 74
  13. So your logic is that mystique is going to make the difference? Or a devil's advocate "yaneverknow"? Please do better, say something about Ankiel and Pujols, or Duncan or something.
  14. This part confuses the hell out of me. This is his 21st season managing in major league baseball. We know what kind of manager he is. And he didn't do well with what last year? The only thing close to a "collapse" was the hole the team dug itself into at the beginning of the season, and they climbed out of that, obviously. That's not even the most confusing part. He calls him "an awesome manager" earlier in the paragraph.
  15. Welcome to NSBB. This is the part of your post I think is correct.
  16. You guys just didn't go far enough North. Summers by Lake Erie are awesome weather-wise.
  17. If the prospect of having 5 or 6 potential world series at bats being Fontenot/Ward/Edmonds against a LHP is too terrifying, then work Jake Fox or Jason Dubois onto the playoff roster.
  18. Seriously, after Headley I have no idea who any of these hitters are.
  19. "The patented 'Cardinal Pixie Dust'... get some!" Oh come on. He has a career .860 OPS, its not like this is really far from the norm. Since 2004: .930, .885, .868, .839, and now .888 with the Cards.
  20. Unbelievable, now God doesn't want Rich Hill to come back either.
  21. That was my first reaction. Blanton in Citizens Bank is not a good match. Away from home this year he's giving up a home run every 6 innings, to go with a 1.50 WHIP, an ERA pushing 6, and a K/BB pushing 1. Brutal.
  22. Perkins in his last 7 starts has a 3.86 ERA, 2.5 K/BB, and only 11 BB in 44.1 IP. He's hot right now, so there's logic to keeping him in there.
