  1. My roommate says I've perfected the Gus Johnson cackle, it may be the greatest compliment I've ever received.
  2. I've seen this mentioned a few times now. I wonder if it really matters whether they start or not. Z, Harden, and Dempster have been around long enough for the Mets to know what to expect. With Z, probably not. On the other hand, the Mets roster has a combined 32 PA's against him, with only Delgado, Anderson, and Beltran having seen him for more than 3 PA's. Dempster is a very different pitcher this year in terms of stuff and in terms of what the batter sees with the glove flip. He didn't pitch against the Mets when they came to Wrigley.
  3. It's near impossible for me to give any specific ideas at this point. The Cubs aren't going to be able to spend big to acquire players(because they'll be using most of their payroll increase to give raises to current players and retain current free agents). Therefore, an upgrade is most likely to come from somebody who gets it in their head through poor judgment, fan pressure, etc. that a good player needs to be dealt. Beltran would be the prime example here. Unfortunately, many of those guys have bigger contracts(again, Beltran), but the motivation for the team trading them away isn't money(entirely at least), so it might be a way to get rid of the contract of say, Marquis or Lilly(or Fukudome if we make our own set of rash decisions). In conclusion, it appears I like to use parentheses.
  4. The Brewers were off Monday, so I don't think it's short rest. I wonder if it's worth the trouble to find the brewerfan thread where they made fun of me for saying on NSBB that Parra was "Sean Marshall without the MLB success".
  5. Seriously. Tickets are what, $0.75 there? Yeah, that'll get you a pair I think.
  6. For ease of scrolling, can these long sets of pictures have some spoiler tags? At least from this point forward?
  7. Please please please please please send them to KC.
  8. Don't look now, but Oswalt is getting taken behind the woodshed.
  9. Wow is my team just terrible. Every single starter except for Bowe laid an egg two weeks in a row, unreal.
  10. Good chance for Mizzou to move up again, the two teams in front of them have road games against good programs.
  11. If there's a need for a "Tyler Colvin Reassurance Thread", I think everyone recognizes Colvin's many faults.
  12. Johnson is not a Free Agent, he's arbitration eligible.
  13. Most draft-time publications liked Jackson because he was a 4 pitch pitcher, and to my memory didn't really single out any of them as a wipeout pitch that would stand out like you describe.
  14. hahahaha, Carl Monday
  15. Mizzou-Nevada gets national TV(FSN and Comcast regional affiliates) thanks to Texas postponing and Baylor moving their game. Great news since I'll be out of town.
  16. That is a good point. He made that comment ealier this year when he was still humping up that fastball to 96 and regularly throwing 93. Now he isn't doing it even when in a jam. I hope that he still can--and does occassionally in the play-offs. I am a big fan of power arms in the play-offs. They usually win. Time will tell. Harden's average velocity as a Cub is under 92. Yesterday it was just under 90. That means this is the only start his "velocity has been down", and it comes in his first outing in 2 weeks, where he still pitched very well, and still hit 94 at the end of his outing. "Harden's velocity is way down, he isn't the same pitcher" is trite, fatalistic, and an overwrought reaction considering the actual details of Harden's time with the Cubs and last night's start.
  17. Amazing. And then this:
  18. I started him last week, but as a longtime TJH owner I know that Johnson isn't really a TD machine. KC gets Oakland while Cincy gets Tennessee. At the flex, James gets Miami. Chad was the lowest producer of them last week, the least healthy, and he's playing the best opponent(all the games are home games FWIW). That's my thought process, I'm willing to be convinced otherwise.
  19. Keepers + Trades
  20. Peterson and Johnson, don't outthink yourself. I have no idea which WR you should bench. I start 2 RB, 2 WR, and a flex RB- LDT, Addai, James WR- Edwards, ocho cinco, Bowe, Santana Moss I'm pretty sure I want to start all 3 RB and go with Edwards and Bowe.
  21. Sure, I'll take the 9-11 AM shift on Fridays this semester, what's the harm in that? Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb
  22. Oklahoma and USC are in the same situation. They're both clearly better than anyone on their schedule(including OSU and anyone from the North OU would play in the B12 title game). The problem is they run into an injury that derails them(USC) or a hostile environment where they play stupid until halftime and can't come back(OU). If you're playing either that's all you can hope for, because if they decide to play well then you're going to lose handily. No one else is in that situation. Georgia's not that much better than the rest of the SEC, LSU and Florida aren't as good as them, Mizzou's not at that tier, and OSU isn't up with any of those teams.
